Known suspect jumped into an occupied vehicle at the listed location, produced a firearm and ordered the victim to drive. The suspect fled from the vehicle and was apprehended at a nearby location. No shots fired. No injuries reported.

Towanda woman faces theft, drug charges

Heather Lee Raezer, 25, of Towanda is accused of stealing narcotics at Memorial Hospital's Personal Care Home and ingesting the drugs, police said.

These crimes occurred between April 2012 and June 2012, police said.

At the time, Raezer was a Memorial Hospital employee assigned to work at the Personal Care Home, according to the state police at Towanda.

Raezer has been charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition, receiving stolen property, forgery, and offenses prohibited by the Controlled Substance Drug Device & Cosmetic Act, police said.

A summons will be sent to Raezer ordering her to answer to these charges at a later date in the Towanda District Court, police said.

Raezer is no longer employed by the Memorial Hospital system, Jeff Russell, a spokesman for Memorial Hospital, said on Tuesday.

Towanda area man charged with receiving stolen property

Larry Richard Nichols Jr. of Towanda RR3 has been charged with persons not to possess or control a firearm, receiving stolen property, and criminal conspiracy, police said.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in February and March of 2011 in which Nichols and another individual took a rifle from a mobile home where they were replacing the floor, which is located on state Route 414, police said. Nichols, 39, and his co-worker refused to return the rifle until they were paid for the job, police said.

Nichols and his co-worker did return the rifle after they were paid the $230 that they charged for the work, police said.

Nichols was not allowed to possess or control the rifle because he had previously been convicted of the felony of manufacture of a controlled substance, police said.

Nichols has been sent a summons ordering him to appear before Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Feb. 6.

DUI charges

The following person was recently charged with driving under the influence in Bradford County:

Kenneth Charles Ball, 31, of Athens, by the state police, on Nov. 25, on U.S. Route 220 in Ulster Township. A blood test performed on the day of Ball's arrest revealed that the amount of alcohol in his blood was .132 percent. Ball has been sent a summons to appear before Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Feb. 1.

Man charged with theft of leased property

A Sayre man was recently charged with theft of leased property by borough police.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Richard L. Naylor, 54, rented a television, bed, mattress and box springs from the Home Necessities store on Desmond Street without having made weekly payments. The bed was valued at $1,248 and the television at $699.99, police said.

Disorderly conduct charge

A Sayre man was recently arrested by borough police on a charge of disorderly conduct.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Christopher Eric Hammond, 46, yelled and caused a disturbance at a Tioga Street apartment at about 11:50 p.m. Jan. 9. Police said Hammond pounded on walls, yelled and threw objects during a verbal argument.

Hammond's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 12.

Athens man charged with theft

An Athens man was recently charged with theft by unlawful taking by Athens Township police.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Andrew J. Kizale, 22, was also charged with receiving stolen property.

Police said Kizale removed $120 in cash Jan. 13 from the purse of an employee at the Burger King restaurant on Elmira Street.

Kizale's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 12.

Conspiracy charge

A Sayre man was recently charged with conspiracy to commit possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver by state police.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Joshua Robert Uhl, 21, is accused of selling oxycodone to a confidential informant along with a female co-defendant in June 2012.

Uhl was arraigned Jan. 16 by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $45,000 bail. Uhl's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 22.

Once there, police arrested one individual on an outstanding warrant.

On Jan. 7, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Spring Street to investigate a criminal mischief complaint. An open burning complaint sent officers to the 100 block of Milwaukee Avenue. Officers responded to a criminal mischief complaint in the 400 block of Main Street.

More charges

KELLY TOWNSHIP - Additional charges have been filed against a Watsontown woman accused of stealing customers' banking information to pay her own debts.

State police at Milton said three additional people discovered their checking accounts had been compromised by Peggy Sue Netzband, 48, while she was employed by a pet grooming and kennel business in this Union County township.

Police said Netzband allegedly took $1,658 from a Lewisburg man's account, $1,000 from a Mifflinburg woman's account and $1,600 from a Berwick woman's account.

Netzband was charged for a Dec. 13 incident during which she allegedly used banking information from Cammy Sue Guffey, of New Columbia, to make a $1,684.83 payment to Ford Motor Credit.

The total amount stolen from the four victims is $5,943.

Police said Netzband will be charged with three felony counts of identity theft and a misdemeanor theft charge.

Curfew violation

SHAMOKIN - A 17-year-old Shamokin male was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for a curfew violation relating to an incident at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sunbury and Shamokin streets.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Shannon Marie Shaw, 25, of 447 S. Harrison St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Shane Mowery for harassment for allegedly grabbing Jewelyssa Johnson by the arm and neck, causing scratches.

Police said the disturbance occurred at 5:16 p.m. Friday at Shaw's residence.

Scattering rubbish

COAL TOWNSHIP - Robert Kramer III, 25, of Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Joshua Wynn for allegedly depositing numerous bags of household trash along Bear Valley Road in the third patch of Bear Valley between Saturday and Tuesday.

Driver escapes injury

LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - George W. Sweitzer IV, 33, of 101 Elm St., Selinsgrove, escaped injury in a weather-related accident Wednesday morning at the intersection of Route 225 and Hepner Road.

State police at Stonington reported Sweitzer was driving a 2008 Honda Civic south on Route 225 at 5:30 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle, which traveled off the southbound shoulder, went into a ditch and continued to travel south before coming to rest against a shed.

The car sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Keller's Towing.

Sweitzer, who was wearing a seat belt, will be cited, police said.

No injuries

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported no injuries occurred as a result of a weather-related crash Wednesday morning on Route 61 near Ghezzi's Restaurant.

Police said David R. High, 55, of 20 N. Sheridan St., Apt. 110, Coal Township, was driving a blue 2006 Mercury Montego north at 5:27 a.m. when he lost control of the car, which traveled off the southbound shoulder and struck a tree.

Police said High, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured, but will be cited.

His car was towed by Paul's Auto Body.

Aggravated assault

ATLAS - Kyle J. Knopp, 20, of 331 W. Seventh St., Mount Carmel, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and stalking following an incident at 1:22 a.m. Dec. 2 on West Girard Street.

According to court documents filed by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Kelly Campbell, Knopp allegedly arrived at a residence and asked to speak outside with a minor male living there. While the two were outside, Knopp allegedly struck the juvenile several times with his fists and kicked him in the head. Witnesses said the minor was unconscious for approximately three minutes as a result, according to police.

The suspect was arraigned Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $20,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.

DUI

ATLAS - Timothy J. Ramph, 37, of 1343 Poplar St., Kulpmont, was charged with driving under the influence of a drug or combination of drugs, reckless driving and careless driving following an accident at the community park at 11:45 a.m. Dec. 16.

Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Kelly Campbell filed the charges with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel after Ramph allegedly refused to submit to a chemical blood test. A preliminary hearing before Jones is scheduled for Feb. 13.

Charges waived

KULPMONT - Adam Gondol, 39, of 128 N. Chestnut St., Mount Carmel, waived charges of endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a controlled substance, misbranding of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia during his preliminary hearing Dec. 19 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel.

Gondol was arrested in a Dec. 14 drug bust by members of the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force on charges filed by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman David Stamets Jr. following a Sept. 12 incident.

He was ordered to appear in Northumberland County Court, Sunbury, on Feb. 25, for plea court, where he can either plead guilty or no contest, or plead not guilty and request a trial.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police charged Jeremy S. Sala, 21, of 312 W. Fourth St., with driving under the influence, driving under the combined influence of alcohol and a drug or a combination of drugs and driving an unregistered vehicle.

Patrolman Shane Reamer filed the charges with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel following an investigation into a Nov. 11 traffic stop at Fourth and Hickory streets.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 13 before Jones.

Accident occurs in N. Towanda

James E. Cahoon Jr. of Ulster was involved in a recent motor vehicle accident in North Towanda Township in which no one was injured, police said.

At 2:20 p.m. on Jan. 11, the 56-year-old Cahoon was backing out of the gas pumps at the Dandy Mini Mart on U.S. Route 6 when his rear trailer struck a storage shed, police said.

Albany Township man charged with assaulting nephew

Jacob Lee Robinson, 29, of Albany Township is accused of punching his nephew recently in the face, which broke his jaw and caused a tooth to fall out, police said.

Robinson assaulted his nephew, Michael Joel Compton of Albany Township, after he began arguing with Compton, police said.

The incident took place at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 15 at Robinson's residence, police said.

Robinson has been charged with simple assault and harassment, police said.

Robinson has been sent a summons to appear on Feb. 6 before Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark.

Brandon Lawrence Reeves, 30, of Towanda RR2 has been charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition, receiving stolen property, and criminal conspiracy, police said.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in February and March of 2011 in which Reeves and Larry Richard Nichols of Towanda RR3 took a rifle from a mobile home where they were replacing the floor, which is located on state Route 414, police said. Reeves and the 39-year-old Nichols refused to return the rifle until they were paid for the job, police said.

Nichols and Reeves did return the gun after they were paid the $230 that they charged for the work, police said.

Reeves has been sent a summons to appear before Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Feb. 6.

Charges have also been filed against Nichols in connection with this incident, police said.

Monroeton women charged with possession of drug paraphernalia

Elyssa Ann Myers, 27, and Julie Lynn Falsey, 35, both of Monroeton, have both charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

The charges stem from an incident in Monroe Township in which Myers and Falsey were in possession of needles that they used to inject bath salts, police said.

Myers was also in possession of eight plastic/metal pipes, according to the state police at Towanda.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:28 p.m. on Dec. 14 along state Route 414, police said.

DUI charges

The following person was recently charged with driving under the influence in Bradford County:

Michael Dane Reid, 26, of Kingfisher, Okla., by the state police, on Dec. 27, on U.S. Route 220 in Monroe Township. Reid was also cited for driving an at unsafe speed and careless driving. A blood test on the day of Reid's arrest revealed that Reid's blood alcohol content was .210 percent.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Jason Drumheller has cited Peter Michael Kulik, 28, of 704 Spruce St., Kulpmont, for harassment involving a disturbance at 3:20 a.m. Jan. 5 at 129 S. Market St.

Police reported Kulik grabbed a woman by her face and threw her against a wall at her residence. Police did not identify the victim.

Drug offense

MOUNT CARMEL - A 16-year-old male from Aristes has been charged by Police Chief Todd Owens with possession of a controlled substance relating to a Dec. 19 incident at Compass Academy School, 30 W. Third St.

Staff at the school found the controlled substance and reported the incident to police.

Theft-related charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Chief of Police Todd Owens has charged a 16-year-old male of Mount Carmel with theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing a set of earrings owned by his stepmother during the last week of December.

Police said the earrings were stolen from 228 S. Apple St.

Victim bit on arm

MOUNT CARMEL - Crystal Brandon, 31, of 338 S. Chestnut St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Cpl. Chris Buhay for harassment for allegedly biting Shane Geary on the arm at 6:25 a.m. Dec. 28 during a domestic dispute.

Geary suffered an injury in the biting incident.

Man injured

State police at Towanda said that Gregory Maynard, 58, of Canton, had a minor injury in a one-vehicle accident at 10:55 p.m. Dec. 27 on Route 414 in Leroy Township.

Trooper Brandon Allis said Maynard was traveling east and his Kia Sportage began sliding on a patch of ice and snow, and he lost control of the vehicle, which traveled onto the northern roadside of Route 414, struck an embankment and overturned onto its roof. As it rolled over, the vehicle struck an electric fence at 6197 Route 414, and came to final rest on the northern roadside of Route 414, facing west.

Maynard was taken by Western Alliance to Robert Packer Hospital.

Indecent assault investigated

State police at Towanda said they are investigating an indecent assault that occurred during the Troy Fair demolition derby in 2010.

Trooper Warnick said the victim was a 10-year-old Canton male and the assault took place in July 2010 at Alparon Park in Troy Township.

Police investigate indecent assault

State police at Towanda said they are investigating a report of an indecent assault that took place Dec. 22 at a residence in Columbia Township.

Trooper Warnick said the victim was a 10-year-old Gillett individual. The gender of the person was not specified.

Man charged

State police at Towanda said that Kenneth Raymond, 28, of Towanda was charged with harassment and possession of drug paraphernalia in District Court 42-3-03 for an incident that took place Jan. 4 on the Burlington Turnpike in Burlington Township.

Trooper Youngblood said that Raymond subjected the victim, a 27-year-old woman, to physical contact during an argument, and a piece of drug paraphernalia was taken from the residence during the police investigation.

Deer hides stolen

State police at Towanda said they are continuing to investigate the theft of 75 processed deer hides that took place sometime between 8 p.m. Nov. 29 and 3 p.m. Nov. 30 in South Creek Township.

Trooper Fisher said the victim was a Gillett man, and anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186 or 800-4-PA-TIPS.

Harassment reported

State police at Towanda said that Christopher Lee Heinze, no age given, of New Albany, and Timothy Joseph Hodge, no age given, of Columbia Cross Roads, began to argue and the argument became physical, with both striking each other, at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Bradford County Correctional Facility in West Burlington Township.

Trooper David Kittle said neither wants to pursue charges against the other.

Wood taken

State police at Towanda said that someone stole residual ash wood, stemming from baseball bat manufacturing, from Larimer & Norton sometime between Dec. 6-10 in Troy Township.

Trooper Joshua M. Thompson said that the 40-inch long pieces of wood were stacked outside and are sold for firewood.

Police also reported the same type of incident at the same location between Jan. 11 and Jan. 14.

Man cited

State police at Towanda said that Robert Johnson, Jr., 52, of Granville Summit, has been cited with harassment in Magisterial District Court 42-3-01 after he followed behind a 20-year-old Granville Summit man while the two were driving sometime between approximately 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Jan. 13 on Route 514 in Granville Township, tailgating the victim while repeatedly honking his horn all the way from Granville Summit to Troy Borough.

Trooper Joshua M. Thompson said it happened because of an ongoing property dispute.

Police also said that Robert Johnson, Jr., 52, of Granville Summit was cited with criminal mischief in Magisterial District Court 42-3-01 after he ripped down and destroyed four posted signs belonging to a 43-year-old Granville Summit man sometime between approximately 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Jan. 13 on Route 514 in Granville Township.

Man charged with harassment

State police at Towanda said a charge of harassment was filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy against Anthony Michael Hilton, no age given, of Granville Summit, who is accused in a harassment incident that took place at 1 p.m. Jan. 13 on Route 514 in Granville Township.

Trooper David Kittle said that Hilton and the victim, a 52-year-old Granville Summit man, had a disagreement about property boundaries, and Hilton destroyed and damaged several fruit trees located along the property boundary and placed the wood debris and garbage along the boundary with the intent of harassing the victim.

Purse stolen

A 51-year-old Columbia Cross Roads woman told state police at Towanda that someone entered her house and stole her purse containing $300-$400 and a Kindle Fire electronic notebook sometime between approximately 11 p.m. Jan. 5 and 10:45 a.m. Jan. 6 on Watkins Hill Road in Columbia Township.

Joseph Allen, 40, Athens, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 80 days. The sentence was imposed following conviction for failing to obey court ordered to appear for court and for failure to pay child support. The Domestic Relations Office charged the offences.

Allen will remain incarcerated until the 80 days have been served.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following criminal defendants recently entered guilty pleas in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda. Sentencing in the cases will take place following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. At time of sentencing, defendants will face sanctions that may include imprisonment, fines, and other conditions deemed appropriate by the court; additionally, defendants will be required to pay restitution to victims and court costs, and they may lose their Pennsylvania driving privilege.

Geoffrey R. Buickus, 23, Canton, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Officer Joshua Lake of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Buickus for the offense in September 2012.

Todd Randall, 32, Waverly, N.Y., entered pleas of guilty to the offenses of Disorderly Conduct, a misdemeanor of the third degree, and Harassment, a summary offense. Officer Jeremy Horton of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Randall for the offense in September 2012.

Jason Michaud, 24, Anchorage, Alaska, was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 10 days to six months, and a fine of $1000.00, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Michaud will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. The sentence was imposed following an earlier guilty plea. Trooper David Pelachick of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Michaud for the offense in June 2012 after an incident that occurred in Athens Township.

Deborah McCarty, 49, Waverly, N.Y., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from seven days to six months, and a fine of $500.00, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor; the sentence was imposed following an earlier guilty plea. Cory James Tucker, 28, Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from four and one-half years to 10 and a one-half years, and a fine of $2300.00, for the offense of Aggravated Assault While Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance (Bath Salts).

Tucker was also ordered to pay a fine of $2300.00 and to pay restitution in the amount of $396,097.42. Additionally, Tucker will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 18 months. The sentence was imposed following Tucker's conviction by a jury after criminal trial. Trooper Brandon Allis of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Tucker for the offense in December 2011 following an incident that occurred in Wysox Township.

Melissa Nixon, 43, Endicott, N.Y., was sentenced to probation for a term of 12 months, and a fine of $500.00, for the offense of Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Vicodin), a felony. Nixon was also ordered to reimburse the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the amount of $300.00 for money used to purchase a controlled substance at the time of the incident leading to her arrest, and she will lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for six months. The sentence was imposed following an earlier guilty plea. Agents of the Pennsylvania State Police Vice and Narcotics Unit arrested Nixon for the offense in June 2012 after an incident that occurred in Athens Township.

Joshua Henrie, 23, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., was resentenced, following revocation of his original sentence of probation due to violation of probation conditions, to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 75 days to 12 months, and a fine of $300.00, for the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor. Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following persons were recently placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) Program in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Bradley J. Sampson, 19, Sayre, Pa., charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in July 2012 by Officer Roger Clink of the Athens Township Police Department, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of six months. While on probation, Sampson will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use.

Additionally, Sampson must perform community service.

Tracy Jo Kobaly, 32, Elmira, N.Y., charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking in July 2012 by Sergeant Keith Stackhouse of the Athens Township Police Department, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months.

While on probation, Kobaly will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Kobaly must perform community service.

Michelle N. Calabrese, 40, Waverly, N.Y., charged with Endangering Welfare of Children in August 2012 by Officer Thomas VanFleet of the Athens Township Police Department, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of six months. While on probation Calabrese will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use.

Additionally, Calabrese must perform community service.

Amanda N. Chapman, 27, Athens, Pa., charged with Driving under the Influence of Alcohol in August 2012 by Officer George Nichols of the Sayre Borough Police Department, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation Chapman will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use.

Additionally, Chapman must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel; she also will lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days.

David J. Brown, Jr., 23, Towanda, Pa., charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol in September 2012 by Trooper David Sweeney of the Pennsylvania State Police, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation Brown will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use.

Additionally, Brown must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel; he also will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days.

Criminal mischief

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone shot holes in a metal out building and trailer owned by David I. Shulski, 3303 Irish Valley Road, Paxinos, between Dec. 26 and Jan. 1.

Underage drinking

WEST CHILLISQUAQUE TOWNSHIP - David M. King, 19, of Greenwich, Conn., and a student at Bucknell University, was charged by state police at Milton with underage drinking relating to an incident at 1:49 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Routes 45 and 405 in this Northumberland County township.

Police said King was observed stumbling along Route 45 before stopping along a concrete divider and bracing himself by grabbing a nearby road sign.

Burglary

MILTON - State police at Milton are investigating a burglary at the residence of Kenneth Heimbach, 33, of 62 N. Orbit Drive, Milton.

Police said someone gained access to Heimbach's home through an unsecured ground-level door on the east side of the property and rummaged through the residence. Police said nothing was apparently stolen or damaged in the home.

Police reported the break-in occurred between 8 p.m. Thursday and 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Two-car accident

COAL TOWNSHIP - No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident Friday morning at the intersection of Route 61 and Feeney Street near McDonald's.

Coal Township police said Derek Rowlett, 40, of 1147 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, was driving a 2009 Dodge car when he stopped in the southbound travel lane. Rowlett's auto was then struck in the rear passenger side bumper and quarter panel by a 2008 Chervolet operated by Kendell Griffiths, 30, of 182 Shiloh Court, Whitehall.

Police said both vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene.

Griffiths will be cited for careless driving.

Loud music

COAL TOWNSHIP - Mark A. Carnuccio, 40, of 1214 Chemung St., Coal Township, was cited by Coal Township police for playing music too loud at his residence at 3:30 a.m. Jan. 15. Police said the music could be heard more than half a block away from Carnuccio's residence.

Flown to Geisinger

MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - James A. Antonelli, 46, of Ringtown, was flown by Medevac to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville after suffering a back injury and lacerations in a one-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on Route 339 in this Schuylkill County township.

Antonelli was listed Sunday in serious condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

State police at Frackville reported Antonelli was driving a green, 1997 Ford Explorer north at 3:07 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the road, causing his vehicle to exit the west berm and overturn multiple times while traveling through a wooded area before coming to rest approximately 100 feet into the woods on its roof.

Upon speaking to Antonelli, police said he had a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. Police said charges are pending blood test results.

Rollover crash

FOSTER TOWNSHIP - State police at Frackville reported charges are pending against Hali Lynn Matzura, 25, of Mount Carmel, in connection with a truck accident Saturday night on Interstate 81 in this Schuylkill County township.

According to police, Matzura was driving a green, 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck north at 6:40 p.m. when her vehicle began to weave erratically before swerving off the right lane and across the northbound shoulder into a ditch. The truck then rolled over and came to rest on the road on its roof.

Police said Matzura climbed out of her truck and was observed stumbling near the truck by passing motorists, who also saw her attempt to bury a purse in the snow.

The purse, which was recovered, contained drug paraphernalia and possible drug packets, according to police.

Matzura was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center in Pottsville for blood testing.

Matzura, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor cuts on her hand, police said.

Aggravated assault

MAHONING TOWNSHIP - An aggravated assault charge is pending against a 19-year-old black male who allegedly assaulted two staff members at North Central Secure Treatment Unit on Hospital Drive Friday morning.

State police at Milton reported the suspect, who remains in custody at the secure treatment unit, is accused of assaulting the staff members after they verbally corrected him for a dress code violation at 8:45 a.m. The staff members suffered injuries in the assault that required emergency room treatment at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Police, who did not identify the suspect, said the incident remains under investigation.
