Juvenile petition filed

State police at Towanda said that a juvenile petition has been filed against a 17-year-old Canton Township male for violating a PFA at 7:33 p.m. Jan. 21 at a location on Route 14 in Troy Township.

Trooper Naughton said that the victim, a 16-year-old Troy Township female juvenile, has a "no contact" PFA against the 17-year-old, and he violated it order by calling her house.

Burglary reported

State police at Towanda said that someone broke into the homes of three people at 1:35 a.m. Jan. 21 on Silver Maple Lane, Town and Country Lane, and Sugar Maple Lane at Town and Country Estates in Troy Township.

Trooper Matthew M. Grebeck said the victims were a 75-year-old Troy woman, a 58-year-old Troy man, and a 67-year-old Troy man.

He said a TV and money was stolen from one of the victims, and the other victims had damage to their property, due to the forced entry that was made at the homes.

All residents are reminded to keep all doors and windows locked, and to keep valuables out of their vehicles.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.

Woman faces hearing

Heather Ruth Selfridge, 19, of Granville Summit, faces a preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. today before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy for two violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act for an incident that took place at 11 p.m. Dec. 28 on Route 6 in West Burlington Township, according to court papers.

The papers note that Selfridge possessed a small amount of marijuana for personal use, and a glass smoking pipe containing suspected burnt marijuana was found within a purse in her vehicle, following a traffic stop.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Brandon Allis said that he saw the vehicle travel across the yellow double line multiple times.

Wilcox said Selfridge was sent a summons.

Woman charged with unauthorized use

Suann Nicole Dyar, 31, of Troy, faces a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. today before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on a charge of unauthorized use of automobiles and other vehicles for an incident that took place at 11:13 p.m. Dec. 23 on Canton Street in Troy, according to court papers.

Troy Police Officer Michael Northup said Dyar is accused of operating at 2002 Kia Rio, without the consent of the owner, Bernard Cole, no age or address given.

Crash

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - An 18-year-old Sunbury man escaped injury after the car he was driving crashed Monday along Mile Post Road.

Trooper Barry Wooten of state police at Stonington said Collin N. Smith was driving a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle east at 4 p.m. when the car slid off the road, went down an embankment and struck a ditch.

The vehicle was disabled.

Drug offenses

ATLAS - Joshua M. Barwicki, 22, of 1338 Poplar St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman David Stamets with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and a lighting violation relating to an Oct. 27 incident along Route 61.

David John Slaby, 21, of 1229 Poplar St., Kulpmont, a passenger in Barwicki's vehicle, was charged by Stamets with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Jason Drumheller has charged Rochelle Marie Stief, 48, of 17 W. Seventh St., Mount Carmel, with driving under the influence of alcohol involving a Jan. 9 incident at Avenue and Poplar Street.

Police said Stief refused to submit to chemical testing.

Terroristic threats

COAL TOWNSHIP - A 17-year-old male student at Shamokin Area High School will be charged with terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and harassment following an incident at the school Tuesday.

Police report the male was making threats toward other students and the school. The student was released to his parents and charges will be filed through Northumberland County Juvenile Court Services.

PFA violation

MOUNT CARMEL - Michael J. Katinsky, 60, of 430 W. Fig St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with violating a protection from abuse order involving a Christmas Day incident.

According to a criminal complaint, Katinsky is accused of violating the order by texting his estranged wife, Janet Katinsky, and placing a Christmas card in her doorway. The defendant had been ordered to avoid all contact with his estranged wife.

PFA

KULPMONT - Derek C. Kranzel, 22, of 414 Main St., Aristes, was charged by Patrolman Kelly Campbell with violating a protection from abuse order relating to a Dec. 9 incident at 1201 Wood St.

Police said Kranzel violated the order filed against him by Kelsey Resendes by calling and screaming at her about something he claimed she had posted on Facebook. Kranzel had been ordered to avoid all contact with Resendes.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN - Kristin Blass, 30, of 1103 Cherry Hill Road, Bloomsburg, was cited by Patrolman Jarrod Scandle for retail theft for allegedly stealing a Starbucks Vanilla Frappuccino valued at $2.49 from Turkey Hill Minit Market on North Second Street on Jan. 16.

Fraud investigation

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - State police at Lykens are continuing their investigation into an attempt to obtain approximately $15,000 from a financial account at Upper Dauphin Middle School.

Police said someone pretending to be from the U.S. Department of Transportation faxed the school a form requesting financial account information Jan. 16. The school's business manager sent the unknown actor the school's financial information with her signature. On Jan. 29, the actor used the school's financial information and the business manager's signature to attempt to transfer $15,822.77 from the school's account to the actor's account, but the school's financial institution stopped the transaction from taking place.

Jewelry stolen

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - State police at Milton reported a 21-year-old Danville resident entered the residence of Carol Cashner, 65, of Route 642, and removed several items of gold jewelry before selling the items at area pawn shops.

Police, who are continuing their investigation, did not identify the suspect.

Police said the crimes were committed between Jan. 7 and Tuesday.

Car stolen

VALLEY TOWNSHIP - Jonathan R. Dodds, 25, of Minersville, told state police at Milton that someone stole his 1993 Subaru Legacy from a parking area along Red Roof Road off Route 54 in this Montour County township between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the car is valued at $1,000.

Driver uninjured

COOPER TOWNSHIP - Stephanie G. Solomon, 25, of Catawissa, escaped injury Thursday morning when the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee she was driving struck a guardrail several times along River Drive in this Montour County township after swerving to avoid striking several large rocks along the road.

State police at Milton said Solomon was traveling west at 5:25 a.m. on River Drive west of County Line Drive when she spotted several large rocks on the road that had fallen from an embankment adjacent to the north berm.

Police said Solomon swerved her vehicle to avoid the rocks and lost control, causing her Jeep to travel southwest across the eastbound lane of River Drive and strike guardrail adjacent to the south berm. The Jeep then spun in a counterclockwise direction for approximately 20 feet and struck the guardrail again with its right front, causing it to spin in a counterclockwise direction for 57 feet before its undercarriage hit the guardrail.

Two arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in N. Towanda

Curtis Ayers, 24, of Gillett and Harley Shores, 24, of Burlington were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia following a Dec. 3 motor vehicle accident in North Towanda Township, police said.

The accident occurred when Ayers lost control of his vehicle on U.S. Route 6, police said.

During their investigation of the crash, police found a marijuana pipe in the vehicle, and Ayers and Shores both had constructive possession of the pipe, according to the state police at Towanda.

New Albany man charged with receiving stolen property

Charles Alven May Jr. of New Albany has been charged with receiving stolen property in connection with a burglary that occurred at a residence on Moon Street in Albany Township, police said.

State police said that Amy Lou Koonsman, who lives in the residence, had told them on April 5 that someone had entered her home and stolen various pieces of jewelry and her purse, which contained credit cards.

The 44-year-old May was arraigned by Athens Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Tuesday. May was then released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

May must attend a preliminary hearing before Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Feb. 6.

Man charged with public intoxication

David Charles Kinner, 37, of Gillett has recently been charged with public intoxication relating to a Jan. 30 incident in Orwell Township. According to police, Kinner was found standing outside of a vehicle and was determined to be highly intoxicated. Kinner was taken in front of Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton where, after not being able to pay his fine, Kinner was committed to the Bradford County Correctional Facility.

Sexual assault investigation

State Police in Towanda are investigating a report of sexual assault in which the victim, at the time a 15-year-old female, was sexually assaulted by an adult male in July 2010. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, police said.

Man charged

Robert John Nemeth, 49, of Wyalusing has been charged with illegally operating a vehicle without a required Ignition Interlock System on Dec. 10 on Route 6 in

Wyalusing. According to police, they discovered Nemeth was supposed to have the system on his green 1988 Oldsmobile but it was not present at the time of the arrest.

DUI charges

The following persons have been charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Dale Louis Yates, of New Albany, by state police, on Jan. 30, on Railroad Street in Towanda Township. According to police, Yates drove approximately 250 yards on a stretch of railroad tracks until the truck became inoperable. Yates fled the scene but was taken into custody at Liberty Coroners and South Main Street, police said. Yates was then taken to Memorial Hospital where he refused a blood test. Charges relating to the crash and DUI are being filed with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark, police said.

Alex D. Wilson, 23, of New Lenox, Ill., by the Towanda police, on Jan. 29, on Bridge Street in Towanda Borough. Wilson is accused of being involved in a hit-and-run accident in which a parked vehicle sustained minimal damage. Wilson gave his driver's license to a witness of the accident, but left the scene. Wilson, who lives on Jackson Branch Drive, was also cited for accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle.

WILKES-BARRE - City police are investigating two burglaries that occurred on Tuesday.

Kathy Fissell told police at 5:20 p.m. that someone entered her East South Street apartment and stole her wallet, several earrings and necklaces, cash and an iPod Touch.

The second burglary was reported at 10:51 p.m. by an unidentified man who said someone entered his home in the 400 block of South River Street and stole his wallet, which contained several credit cards, an 18-karat gold Marine Corps ring and several bottles of alcohol.

WILKES-BARRE - City police responded to the following incidents:

n Shots were reported fired at a home at 268 N. Pennsylvania Ave. on Wednesday. No arrests were made.

n A resident of 300 Parkview Circle reported that at 11 a.m. Saturday he went into the living room of his apartment and saw that $1,500 in cash had been removed from a chair.

n Lisa Majer told police Sunday that sometime between 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday, someone got into her friend's Ford Taurus through an unlocked door while it was parked in front of 79 Davis Place and stole her black purse containing cash, an iPad tablet, a Droid Razr cellphone, a nebulizer machine and inhaler and medications.

n A woman's vehicle was stolen from the area of 8 Howard St. on Sunday. Police did not give a description of the vehicle.

n Sometime overnight between Sunday and Monday, someone broke the rear window of a vehicle that was parked in a lot for 300 Park Ave.

n Maurice Perkins of Irving Street told police Monday that someone made a charge on his credit card Nov. 12.

n The manager of Pep Boys, 450 Wilkes-Barre Township Blvd., told police at 2:03 p.m. Tuesday that a man came into the store, took two car stereos - one Sony and one Kenwood - then ran out, got into a waiting silver or white Mercedes and drove off without paying for them.

n Glen Hulsizer reported to police at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday that United Parcel Service dropped off an infrared heater at his South Hancock Street home at 3:07 p.m. Jan. 18, but he never received it.

Man taken into custody

State police at Towanda said that David Charles Kinner, 37, of Gillett, was taken into custody for public intoxication at 8:45 a.m. Jan. 30 on Carey Road at Gulf Road in Orwell Township.

Trooper Hibson said that troopers responded to the report of a man sleeping in a vehicle at the location, and when they arrived, they encountered Kinner standing outside the vehicle. He was determined to be highly intoxicated.

Kinner was taken in front of Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton and fined $440.50. He was unable to pay the fine and was committed to Bradford County Correctional Facility.

Man charged in assault of 22-month-old

A 28-year-old Millerton man has been charged with aggravated assault and related offenses for causing serious bodily injury to a 22-month-old girl Dec. 19 in Wells Township, according to state police at Towanda.

Trooper Nathan L. Lewis said that Joseph M. White was taken into custody and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox.

White was placed in Bradford County Correctional Facility in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Juvenile charged

State police at Towanda said that a 17-year-old male juvenile was charged violating the conditions of a protection from abuse order after calling a 16-year-old female juvenile 11 times within a half hour between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Jan. 28 at a location on Route 14 in Troy Township.

Trooper Sadowski said the male juvenile's actions were a violation of the PFA.

Juvenile assaulted

State police at Towanda said charges of indecent assault were filed against a 13-year-old male juvenile who is accused of having indecent contact with a 9-year-old female between July and December in Alba.

Trooper Musick said the charges were filed through juvenile probation.

Man charged with harassment

State police at Towanda said that charges for summary harassment were filed against Jerome Chester Janoski, no age given, of Granville Summit, after an argument between Janoski and a 52-year-old Granville Summit woman became physical at 8:15 p.m. Jan. 19 on Allen Meadow Road in West Burlington Township.

Trooper David Kittle said Janoski grabbed her by the neck and squeezed.

The charges were filed at Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox's office.

Fugitive from justice charged

State police at Towanda said that Robert Wesley Dawson, Jr., no age given, of Waverly, N.Y., who is an inmate at the Bradford County Correctional Facility in West Burlington Township, was found to be wanted in the state of New York and was charged at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 25.

Trooper Michael J. Tribendis, Jr. said charges for arrest prior to requisition were filed and Dawson was arraigned at the jail by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox. Dawson is awaiting extradition to New York.

Juvenile charged for PFA violation

State police at Towanda said that a 17-year-old male juvenile was charged with indirect criminal contempt in the Bradford County Juvenile Court for an incident that took place Jan. 14 at the Dandy Mini-Mart in Troy.

Trooper Youngblood said that the juvenile violated a protection from abuse order at the Dandy Mini-Mart. The victim was a 16-year-old female juvenile.

Harassment charges

Katie Merritt, 21, of Towanda has recently been charged with harassment relating to a Jan. 25 incident in New Albany Township. Police said Merritt exchanged physical contact with a 17-year-old juvenile.

The juvenile was also charged with harassment, police said.

Wyalusing business burglarized

An unidentified suspect allegedly burglarized Downtown Auto in Wyalusing between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 23 and Jan. 24.

According to police, the business owner found the front bay door open when he arrived in the morning and noticed most of his Snap-On tools were missing.

PFA violation

Randy Robert Teel, 29, has been charged with a PFA violation relating to a Jan. 29 incident that occurred in Tuscarora Township. Police said Teel attempted to call the victim multiple times. The victim, a 26-year-old female, had an active protection from abuse order on Teel.

Wine stolen

Brett Keith Eberlin, 28, of New Albany has been charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition relating to a Jan. 18 incident in Terry Township.

According to police, Eberlin stole two containers of wine from a person he lived with. The wine was valued at approximately $35.

Eberlin has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on Mar. 5 for a preliminary hearing.

Waverly man resists arrest

A Waverly man was recently arrested by Sayre borough police on a charge of resisting arrest.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Paul Edward Nuhfer Jr., 25, was also charged with disorderly conduct.

Police said Nuhfer caused a disturbance Jan. 26 in the Lehigh Tavern on North Lehigh Avenue and had to be physically removed from the premises by officers. Nuhfer did not comply with officers' requests to leave the premises and approached police with clenched fists, police said. Nuhfer then wrestled an officer in the parking lot and attempted to kick him multiple times while the officer attempted to place him into custody, police said.

Nuhfer was arraigned Jan. 26 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $3,000 bail. Nuhfer's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 5.

Man charged with theft

Athens Borough police recently arrested a man on a charge of theft by unlawful taking.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Todd Austin Belles, 23, address unknown, was also charged with receiving stolen property, theft from a motor vehicle and possessing a firearm while prohibited to do so.

Police said Belles and a 17-year-old female juvenile removed a Remington 700 17-caliber rifle from a vehicle parked on Vanderbilt Street in Nov. 2012. Belles has been convicted of a prior felony and is not allowed to possess a firearm, police said.

Belles was arraigned Jan. 29 and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. Belles' preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 5.

Sayre man charged

A Sayre man was recently charged with possession of a controlled substance by borough police.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Michael Ross Smith, 22, was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said Smith was charged after officers and paramedics responded to a drug overdose Jan. 28 on Lincoln Street. Police found a grey powdery substance which later tested positive for heroin, a hypodermic needle, a spoon and wax paper baggies in the residence, according to police.

Smith's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 26.

Police investigating assault

State police at Towanda are investigating a simple assault incident in Litchfield Township.

According to information from state police, a male individual struck a 15-year-old female in the head with an object thrown to the ground during a Jan. 5 verbal argument at a South Macafee Road residence, police said.

Man charged with harassment

State police recently charged a Towanda man with two counts of harassment following an argument in Sheshequin Township.

According to information from state police at Towanda, Adam McClintic, 29, subjected an adult female and a 3-year-old male juvenile to physical contact during the Jan. 29 argument at a Woodside Terrace location. Police charged McClintic with two counts of harassment in district court, police said.

Man charged with corruption of minors

An Athens man was recently arrested by Athens Township police and charged with 30 counts of corruption of minors.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Ralph Hobbie, 72, was also charged with 30 counts of indecent assault of a person less than 16 years of age.

Police said Hobbie is accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with a male juvenile between 30 and 60 times over an approximately two-year period between fall 2010 and fall 2012. The juvenile was between 13 and 15 years old at the time, police said.

Theft

BRANDONVILLE - State police at Frackville are investigating a burglary at the residence of James Possessky, of 1306 Pole Road, involving the theft of a Kindle Fire electronic notebook, GE digital camera and several pieces of gold jewelry including various gold chains and two diamond rings.

Police said the burglary occurred between 5 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Michael C. Porter, 28, Troy, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor. Porter will be sentenced on Feb. 7, 2013, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. At sentencing, Porter faces a maximum sentence of up to 12 months plus fine(s), costs, restitution to victims, loss of Pennsylvania driving privilege for at least six months, and any other conditions deemed appropriate by the sentencing court. Trooper Brandon Allis of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Porter for the offense on February, following investigation of a situation that occurred in Towanda Township.

Michael C. Porter, 28, Troy, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to Driving under the Influence of Alcohol or Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor. Porter will be sentenced on Feb. 7, 2013, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Kyle Rudloff, 21, Sayre, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to six counts of Burglary, a felony of the second degree.

Rudloff will be sentenced on Feb. 11, 2013, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. At sentencing, Rudloff faces a maximum sentence of up to 60 years plus fine(s), costs, restitution to victims, and any other conditions deemed appropriate by the sentencing court. Officers of the Sayre and Athens Township arrested Rudloff for the offense on September and October 2012, following investigation of burglaries that occurred in Sayre Borough and Athens Township.

Lindsey Bashore, 19, Lockwood, N.Y., entered a plea of guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Bashore will be sentenced on Feb. 11, 2013, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. At sentencing, Bashore faces a maximum sentence of up to two years plus fine(s), costs, restitution to victims, and any other conditions deemed appropriate by the sentencing court. Saxon will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 18 months. Sergeant David Lantz of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Saxon for the offense in February 2012.

Jeffrey Jones, 56, East Smithfield, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 90 days to 18 months, and a fine of $1500, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Jones will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 18 months. Trooper David Sweeney of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Jones for the offense in April 2012.

Cody Collins, 20, Wysox, Pa., was sentenced to County Intermediate Punishment with 19 days imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility followed by probation for a term of 12 months. The sentence was imposed following an earlier guilty plea to the offense of Simple Assault. Trooper James Dughi of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Collins for the offense in May 2012.

Sheila Bump, 42, Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from three months to 12 months for the offense of Endangering the Welfare of Children, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Corporal Albert Ogden of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Cole for the offense in February 2012.

Staton, 32, Canton, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from six months to 18 months, and a fine of $500, for the offense of Criminal Trespass, a felony. Officer Steven Vanderpool of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Staton for the offense in June 2012.

Joshua Hearn, 44, Texas, was sentenced to a total term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from five days to 12 months, and fines totaling $1000, for the offenses of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor, and Resisting Arrest, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Hearn will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. Trooper Matthew Grebeck of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Hearn for the offense in April 2012.

Whitney Kipling, 25, Elmira, N.Y., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from three days to six months, a fine of $500, and probation for a term of 12 months, for the offenses of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Kipling will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. Officers Nathan Ross of the Sayre Borough Police Department and Timothy Cahill of the Athens Borough Police Department, respectively, arrested Kipling for the offenses in July 2011 and May 2012.

Eric Mathis, 36, Monroeton, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 90 days to 18 months, and a fine of $1500, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Mathis will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 18 months as mandated by Pennsylvania law for his conviction plus an additional 18 months for refusing to submit to a blood test at the time of his arrest. Trooper Joshua Fisher of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Mathis for the offense in December 2011.

Jeremy Spencer, 29, Columbia Crossroads, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 90 days to 18 months, and a fine of $1500, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Spencer will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 18 months. Officer Steven Vanderpool of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Spencer for the offense in April 2011.

Kelly Sue Westover, 31, Waverly, N.Y., was sentenced to probation for a term of 18 months, and a fine of $500, for the offense of Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance, a felony. Westover was also ordered to reimburse the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the amount of $350 for money used to buy a controlled substance at the time of her arrest. Additionally, Westover will also lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for six months. Agents of the Bradford County Drug Task Force arrested Westover for the offense in February 2010.

David Lattimer, 24, of Milan, Pa., whose original sentence of probation was revoked due to violation of probation conditions, was resentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from two months to 12 months, probation for a term of 12 months, and fines totaling $800, for the offenses of Criminal Trespass, a felony of the third degree and Receiving Stolen Property, a misdemeanor of the third degree. Officer Timothy Cahill of the Athens Borough Police Department arrested Lattimer for the offenses in June 2010.

Dustin Pedro, 19, Rome, Pa., was sentenced to probation for a term of one year, and a fine of $500, for the offense of Criminal Trespass, a felony of the third degree. Pedro was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $3123.40. Trooper Jeffrey Sredenschek of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Pedro for the offense in July 2011.

Brian Kingston, 36, Wyalusing, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from nine days to 18 months, and a fine of $1500, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Kingston will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for eighteen months. He will also lose his driver's license for 18 months. Trooper George Layou of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Kingston for the offense in January 2012.

William S. Glidden, 41, Waverly, N.Y., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 30 days to six months, and a fine of $1,000, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. However, commencement of the sentence was deferred for a period of 10 days so that Glidden may, at his discretion, withdraw his earlier guilty party on the grounds that the sentence constituted a rejection of the plea agreement reached by the Parties. Glidden will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months if the sentence goes into effect. Sergeant Daniel Reynolds of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Glidden for the offense in January 2011.

Chase Argot, 29, Wysox, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 90 days to 18 months, and a fine of $1500, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Argot will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 18 months as mandated by Pennsylvania law for his DUI conviction and for an additional 18 months because he refused to submit to a blood test at the time of his arrest. Officer Joshua Lake of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Argot for the offense in March 2012.

Nathan P. Ritter, 20, Tioga, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from three months to 18 months, and a fine of $500, for the offense of Statutory Sexual Assault, a felony of the second degree. Trooper David Pelachick of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Ritter for the offense in May 2012.

Mark Shaffer, 44, Ulster, Pa., was sentenced to probation for a term of one year, and a fine of $300, for the offense of Obstruction of Administration of Law or Other Governmental Function, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Trooper David Pelachick of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Shaffer for the offense in May 2012.

Michael Melito, 35, Airy, Md., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 15 days to six months, and a fine of $1000, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Melito will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. Corporal Norman Strauss, III, of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Melito for the offense in April 2011.

Dewayne A. McMeekan, 46, a resident of both Illinois and Texas, was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from six months to 30 months, and a fine of $800, for the offense of Flight to Avoid Apprehension and Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, each a misdemeanor of the second degree. McMeekan will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. Trooper Frank Naughton of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested McMeekan for the offense in April 2012.

Steven Taylor, 30, Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to a total term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from four years to eight years, and a fine of $500, for the offenses of Illegal Possession of a Firearm, a felony of the second degree, Corruption of Minors, a misdemeanor of the first degree, and Indecent Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree. The sentence for Illegal Possession of a Firearm was imposed following a criminal trial by jury; the remaining sentences were preceded by guilty pleas. Officer Thomas VanFleet of the Athens Township Police Department and Trooper David Pelachick of the Pennsylvania State Police, respectively, arrested Taylor for the offenses in February and May 2012.

Jordan Royer, 25, Timpson, Texas, was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 90 days to 18 months, and a fine of $1500, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Synthetic Marihuana, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Royer will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 18 months. Trooper David Pelachick of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Royer for the offense in February 2012.

Charli Northrup, 35, Canton, Pa., was sentenced to a total term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 95 days to 23 months, 29 days, probation for a term of 12 months, and fines totaling $1800, for two counts of the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, misdemeanors of the second and first degree, respectively, and one count of Endangering the Welfare of Children, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Northrup will also lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for a total of 30 months for the DUI offenses. Trooper Michael Wienckowski of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Northrup for the first DUI offense; Officers Floyd McDonald of the Troy Borough Police Department and Eric Heckman of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Northrup for the remaining offenses in March 2012.

Jeremy Frisbie, 29, Waverly, N.Y., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from three years to nine years, and fines totaling $1800, for two counts of Criminal Trespass, each a felony of the third degree, and single counts of Resisting Arrest and Simple Assault, each a misdemeanor of the second degree. Frisbie was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $343.10. Officer Bruce Hoffman of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Frisbie for the offenses in June 2012.

Cody Maupin, 31, Benbrook, Texas, was sentenced to State Intermediate Punishment for a term of 24 months, and fines totaling $3600, for the offenses of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, a felony of the third degree, Theft by Unlawful taking, a felony of the third degree, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Maupin was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $3980.72, and he will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 months plus an additional 18 months for failing to submit to a blood test at the time of his DUI arrest. Officer Bryan Bellows of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Maupin for the offense in March 2012.

Chad Fassett, 29, Wyalusing, Pa., was sentenced to State Intermediate Punishment for 24 months, and fines totaling $2100, for two counts of Theft by Unlawful Taking, each a misdemeanor of the second degree, and single counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, each a misdemeanor. Fassett was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $1175, and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. Troopers Michael Moser and Joseph Mitchell of the Pennsylvania State Police, respectively, arrested Fassett for the offenses in December 2011 and January 2012

Jacob W. White, 37, Binghamton, N.Y., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from five months to two years, and fines totaling $700, for the offenses of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, a misdemeanor of the second degree, and Reckless Driving, a summary violation. White will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. Officer Thomas VanFleet of the Athens Township Police Department arrested White for the offenses in May 2012.

Timothy Belcher, 27, of Lawton, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 13 days to 18 months, and a fine of $300, for the offense of Criminal Trespass, a felony of the third degree. Belcher was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $200. Trooper Nathan Lewis of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Belcher for the offense in March 2011.

Lisa Brassfield, 29, Rome, Pa., was resentenced following revocation her original sentence of probation due to violation of probation conditions, to a term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from six months to 12 months, and a fine of $500, for the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor. Agents of the Pennsylvania State Police Vice and Narcotics Unit arrested Brassfield for the offense in August 2010.

Robert Derhammer, 24, Tunkhannock, Pa., was resentenced following revocation of his original sentence of probation due to violation of probation conditions to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from one month to 18 months, and a fine of $500, for the offense of Retail Theft, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Trooper Craig Flynn of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Derhammer for the offense in July 2011.

Leroy Hickman, 33, Keota, Okla., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 29 days to 12 months, and a fine of $500, for the offense of Carrying a Firearm Without a License, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Trooper Joshua Fisher of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Hickman for the offense in May 2011.

James Royce Brown, 37, Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 192 days to 23 months, 29 days, and fines totaling $3000, for two counts of the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, each a misdemeanor of the first degree. Brown will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for a total period 36 months. Trooper Kevin Hibson of the Pennsylvania State Police and Officer Josh Lake of the Towanda Borough Police Department, respectively, arrested Brown for the offenses in March and May 2012.

Benjamin Kinsman, 24, Wysox, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from five days to six months, and a fine of $1000, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Kinsman will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. Trooper Bryan Fedor of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Kinsman for the offense in August 2010. The sentence followed the revocation of Kinsman's earlier placement in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) Program due to violation of program conditions.

Ryan Ballard, 23, Canton, Pa., was sentenced to probation for a term of one year, and a fine of $300, for the offense of Theft by Unlawful Taking, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Ballard was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $2,462.23. Trooper Anthony Stempien of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Ballard for the offense in March 2012.

Richard Wood, 19, Towanda, Pa., was resentenced following revocation of his original sentence of probation due to violation of probation conditions, to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from one month to nine months, and a fine of $500, for Corruption of Minors, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Trooper Thad Warnick of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Wood for the offense in Dec. 14, 2011, after an incident in Monroeton Borough.

Erica Nowell, 29, Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to a total term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from four months to 18 months, and fines totaling $1500, for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor, and Theft By Unlawful Taking, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Nowell was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $2725.00 and she will lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. Officer Bruce Huffman of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Nowell for the offenses in May 2012.

Tommy Turner, 49, Rome, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 45 days to six months, and a fine of $1000, for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Turner will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. Trooper Wayne Dunkling of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Turner for the offense in March 2012 after an incident that occurred in Towanda Township.

Robert McGrath, Athens, Pa., was sentenced to a total term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from one year plus 90 days to four years, and fines totaling $3000 Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree, and Driving While Operating Suspended, a summary offense. McGrath will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 months. Officer Roger Clink of the Athens Township Police Department arrested McGrath for the offenses in March 2012.

Craig Callear, 22, Athens, Pa., was sentenced to probation for a total term of 18 months, and fines totaling $950.00, for Criminal Trespass, a felony of the third degree; Theft By Unlawful Taking, a misdemeanor of the first degree; and Retail Theft, a summary violation. Trooper Nathan Lewis of the Pennsylvania State Police and Officer John Fedorchak of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Callear for the offenses in June and July 2012, respectively, following incidents that occurred in Ulster Township and Athens Township.

Robert Uitz, Jr., 19, Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from one month to 12 months, and a fine of $500, for Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Officer Sean Flynn of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Uitz for the offense in August 2012.

Jonathon Baker, 29, Columbus, Ohio, was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility equal to the number of days served in confinement as of the date of his sentence. The sentence was imposed following an earlier guilty plea to the offense of Impersonating a Public Servant. Trooper James Dughi of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Baker for the offense in December 2011, after an incident that occurred in Towanda Township.

Terry Copp, 52, Waverly, N.Y., was sentenced to probation for a term of 18 months, and a fine of $300, for Theft By Unlawful Taking. Copp was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $2700. Officer Jeremy Horton of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Copp in April 2012.

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Anthony Laurito, 33, of Culp Road, Sunbury, reported to state police at Stonington that sometime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Jan. 27, a bullet was fired through a window and into a bedroom of his house. No one was home at the time of the incident. Damage to the window is estimated at $500.

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP - Cindy May Swinehart, 27, of Herndon, was charged by state police at Selingrove after issuing a bad check to Affordable Fuels, Middleburg, on Dec. 21. The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge Lori R. Hackenburg, of Middleburg.

The following incidents were reported by the Petersburg Bureau of Police during the period of Jan. 24-27. Incidents are preliminary in nature and are subject to change after investigation.

- Attempted Armed Robbery with Apprehension: At 1:38 p.m. Jan. 24 in the 2300 block of County Drive. Summary: Victim was approached by a black male wearing a mask and armed with a handgun. Suspect attempted unsuccessfully to rob the victim, then fled on foot southbound on County Drive. Suspect Terrell Smith was apprehended nearby on Stedman Drive, and the gun and mask recovered. Suspect was transported to the Major Crimes Unit and subsequently charged.

- Burglary with Apprehensions: At 3:27 p.m. Jan. 24 in the 200 block of Woodland Road. Summary: Units responded to a call for a burglary in progress. Four juvenile suspects were apprehended fleeing from the scene. Suspects were transported to Juvenile Services and petitions obtained.

- Shooting into Occupied Dwelling: At 7:05 p.m. Jan. 24 in the 700 block of Hemlock Circle. Summary: Officers responded to an apartment on Hemlock Circle for a call of shots fired. It was determined that shots had been fired into a residence, and two victims were injured by flying debris. Major Crimes Unit responded, and investigation is continuing.

- Aggravated Assault/Arrests: At 2:20 a.m. Jan. 27 in the 500 block of S. Jefferson St. Summary: Female subject threatened male acquaintance with a knife and he was cut trying to take it from her. He left, then returned and kicked in her door and assaulted her. Both subjects charged in the incident.

- Trespass on School Property/Arrest: At 5:24 p.m. Jan. 27 in the 100 block of Pleasants lane. Summary: Police responding to an alarm caught a juvenile exiting the building. Nothing found missing and petitions will be sought.

- Vandalism/Damage/Destruction of Property: At 8 p.m. Jan. 24, police discovered that an unknown offender vandalized a police vehicle with spray paint in the 900 block of W. Poythress Street.

Towanda woman pleads guilty to drug charge

Nicole Mae Decker of Towanda pleaded guilty on Jan. 30 to possession of a controlled substance, according to Towanda District Court records.

State police said they were investigating the 24-year-old Decker as a suspect in a Jan. 15 trespassing incident in Franklin Township and found that she was in possession of drug paraphernalia.

At the time, Decker was in possession of a white powdered substance that a field test indicated was bath salts, police said.

Wysox man charged with unauthorized use of motor vehicle

Justin L. Brown of Wysox is accused of taking a 28-year-old woman's vehicle from the residence they lived at without her consent, police said.

Brown took the vehicle from the residence, which is located off River Road in Standing Stone Township, at approximately 10:03 p.m. on Jan. 25, police said.

As a result of this incident, the 29-year-old Brown has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, according to the state police at Towanda.

Simple assault

MONROE TOWNSHIP - State police at Selinsgrove continue to investigate an incident of simple assault involving a Mount Carmel man on Route 11 and 15 near Perkins Restaurant at 7:45 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the victim, Joseph Spagnolo, 35, of Mount Carmel, was riding in a car driven by a known person traveling north on Routes 11 and 15. A verbal argument arose between the two individuals, when the suspect pulled out a pocket knife, putting it to Spagnolo's throat and threatened him.
