No injuries in one car crash

Wynn D. Witman, 25, of Nichols, N.Y. was involved in a one car accident at 3:50 p.m. on Feb. 19 on State Route 1049 in Pike Township. According to police, the crash occurred as Witman traveled north in his 2006 Honda Civic and lost control on a downhill section of road which was covered in snow. The vehicle then traveled across the south bound lane and into a berm on the west side of the road. The vehicle then struck a utility pole, shearing it in half, before coming to rest. Witman suffered no injuries and was not charged with any traffic citations. Witman was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.

Bullet hole found

A bullet hole has been noticed in the front window of a residence at 3815 Shaffers Notch Rd. in Terry Twp. The incident is believed to have taken place between Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at (570) 265-2186.

Vehicle theft

Police are investigating the theft of a blue 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2 wheel drive truck. The theft occurred in Litchfield Township on Dec. 17 between 5 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.. According to police, the vehicle was stolen from a 26-year-old male from Sayre, and later found crashed approximately two miles from where it was stolen. Theft at Dandy

Brandon Cicon, 18, has been charged with retail theft for a Feb. 10 incident at the Dandy Mini Mart in Wyalusing Township. According to police, after reviewing surveillance tapes, Cicon was seen placing a pair of PGE headphones inside of his jacket and exiting the store. The headphones were valued at $19.99.

Mailbox damaged

Police are investigating an incident of mailbox vandalism that occurred between Feb. 10 and Feb. 14 at the 8100 block of State Route 467 in Pike Township. According to police, nothing was taken from the property and there was no other damage that occurred. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at (570) 265-2186.

Identity theft

A 43-year-old male from Windham Township has been the victim of identity theft. According to police, on Feb. 12 an unknown person used the victim's personal information to open an account with an electric company from Texas.

One car crash

James A. Yates, 64, of Sugar Run was not injured after being involved in a single car accident on Sugar Hill Rd. in Wilmot Township. According to police, Yates was traveling west in his 1999 Chevrolet Lumina when he lost control on a right hand curve in the roadway. The road was covered with snow and ice, police said. After losing control, the vehicle struck small trees and shrubbery causing disabling damage to the front of the car. Yates was not charged with any traffic citations and he was wearing a seat belt at the time of his accident.

Jackson Twp. police investigate accidents

Jackson Township police are investigating the following accidents:

n Police responded to a two-vehicle crash Tuesday that sent one woman to the hospital. According to a press release, Joshua Blokzyl, 18, of Towanda was traveling south on Huntsville Road when his vehicle left the right side of the road, hit a tree, then continued into the oncoming lane where it collided with a Chevrolet Impala driven by Anita Petroski, 68, of Dallas. Petroski went to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for treatment. Police said speed contributed to the crash.

n Police said Tyler Cottle, 18, of Shickshinny hit a stone wall at 1918 Chase Road on Tuesday after his Audi slid off the snowy roadway. Officers said they found a flatbed tow truck collecting the car about 400 meters away and charged the driver with failure to notify police and the property owner of the accident and other traffic violations.

Plains Township police reported the following incidents:

n A Plymouth man was found bleeding while lying on the ground in front of the Woodlands Inn and Resort on Saturday morning. Police said the man, Joseph Taverna, was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center for treatment. Witnesses told police that a man had exited a blue sedan, punched Taverna and then fled in the vehicle.

n Police said a Wilkes-Barre man was assaulted by his ex-girlfriend Sunday morning at the Woodlands Inn and Resort. Joseph Grabiec of Diebel Avenue said he was punched in the face by Colleen Logan of Pennbrooke Lane, Dallas. Police plan to file harassment charges against Grabiec and Logan.

n A Scranton man will be cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after causing problems at the Woodlands Inn and Resort on Sunday morning. Police said Steven Baker passed out in the hotel hallway, was found lying in his own vomit and refused to go back to him room. He eventually returned to his room, however, police were again summoned to the hotel later in the morning and found Baker standing in the parking lot. Baker demanded police give him ride to Scranton. Hotel officials evicted Baker from his room and a friend arrived to take Baker home, police said.

n Someone broke into a shed and removed tools and other items from a home on Courtright Street sometime Wednesday night or Thursday morning, police said.

n Harassment citations will be filed against Gregory Kravitz and Jacqueline Olson, after police responded to a domestic disturbance at 27 Grace Drive at 4:37 a.m. Saturday.

n A disabled vehicle on Route 115 on Saturday afternoon led to the apprehension of a suspect wanted by the Luzerne County Sheriff's Department. Police said Sareen Windom of Wilkes-Barre failed to appear in court on a previous assault charge and was arrested.

n Residents at 5 Warner St. reported a Sony PlayStation 3 and some video games were taken from their home Saturday.

Wyalusing man faces multiple charges

Phillip Mark Warfle Jr., 23, of Wyalusing has recently been charged with hindering the apprehension of a fugitive and possession of a controlled substance relating to two incidents on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21 in Wyalusing Township.

According to the Bradford County Sheriff's Office, on Feb. 20 they received a tip that fugitive Timothy Belcher was staying at Warfle's residence. When police went to the location, Warfle denied that Belcher was inside of the house at which time an unidentified female told police he was inside. Police then entered the home and placed Belcher in custody.

The next day deputies went to the Dunkin Donuts in Wyalusing to place Warfle under arrest while he was working. According to police, four Vicodin pills were found in a pack of cigarettes Warfle had in his pocket. Warfle did not have a prescription for the pills.

Warfle was remanded to the Bradford County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 bail and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Feb. 26 before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton.

Men charged in sexual assault

Two Gillett men have been charged in a statutory sexual assault/rape involving a 15-year-old female victim that took place from August to October in South Creek Township, according to state police at Towanda.

Trooper Miranda R. Musick said that Jesse Kelvin Briggs, 23, of Gillett, was charged with statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors, while Mark Arlan Briggs, 45, of Gillett, was charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and corruption of minors for allegedly forcing the same victim have sexual contact with him.

Charges were filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy, and warrants were served, with both of the men posting bail.

Wilcox said the men face preliminary hearings March 6.

SHAMOKIN - Shamokin City Police is looking for information in reference to an assault that occurred at 7:25 p.m. Friday in front of the Ming Guan Restaurant, Independence Street.

Harassment

KULPMONT - Borough police patrolman Shane Reamer cited Katrina Marie Picarella, 25, of 661 Pine St., Kulpmont, for harassment following an incident at 1430 Chestnut St., at 7:25 p.m. Jan. 23. Police said Picarella was screaming and pounding on the door of a residence occupied by Katherine Fitzpatrick.

Curfew violation

SHAMOKIN - Two Shamokin females, a 15-year-old and a 13-year-old, were cited by Shamokin Police Patrolman Scott Weaver for violating Shamokin's curfew ordinance after being seen by police at 1:35 a.m. Sunday in the area of Shamokin and Chestnut streets.

Pedestrian hurt

MOUNT CARMEL - A borough woman sustained an injury when an Atlas woman allegedly ran over her foot while driving away from an argument in the 300 block of North Vine Street Monday afternoon.

Heather Frank, 28, of 331 N. Vine St., told police Jill Fisher, 34, of 477 W. Saylor St., Atlas, drove over her right foot after the two argued, according to the police.

The vehicle was stopped by Mount Carmel Township officer David Stamets in the 400 block of West Saylor Street, Atlas. Fisher was detained for suspicion of DUI and was transported to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital for chemical testing.

Charges against Fisher are pending.

Frank was treated and released from an area hospital.

Strong-arm robbery

NEWTOWN - State police at Schuylkill Haven continue to investigate a Feb. 19 robbery of an elderly woman along Swatara Road, just off of Route 209 in Reilly Township, Schuylkill County.

Police report Kathlene M. Devine, 70, of Gilberton, was getting a ride from Pottsville to Swatara Road, where the crime occurred in a white SUV of unknown make and model.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., while on Swatara Road, a male backseat passenger placed Devine in a headlock and opened the vehicle door. When the door was opened, Devine was pushed out, losing her purse, which had been taken by the male passenger, according to police. The SUV drove toward Route 209 and then toward Newtown. Police say $1,238 was inside the purse, which was white with red, white and blue patches on it.

The driver of the vehicle was a white female, possibly in her 40s and using the name "Katie." The backseat passenger, also in his 40s, was using the name "Chris."

Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 739-1330.

Driver to be charged

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported a 42-year-old Sunbury woman will be charged with operating a vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock system relating to an incident at 12:12 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Route 890 and Captain Bloom Road.

Police did not identify the suspect.

Gambling violations

SHAMOKIN - The Home Plate, 4 S. Second St., was cited Thursday by the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement with gambling/lotteries violations for possessing or operating gambling devices or paraphernalia or permitting gambling or lotteries, pool selling and/or bookmaking on its licensed premises July 17.

Hit and run

LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred between midnight and 9 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Middle Road and Hickory Road in this Northumberland County township.

Police reported a vehicle was traveling west along Middle Road through the intersection with Hickory Road when it crossed both lanes and exited the right side of Hickory Road before striking and uprooting a tree. The driver then fled the scene traveling west along Hickory Road.

Police said the hit-and-run vehicle may be a plum Buick that possibly sustained moderate damage to its passenger side.

Anyone with information about the driver or vehicle is urged to call state police at 286-5601.

Minor injuries

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Charles J. Cooper, 89, of Coal Township, and Magda I. Cosme, 51, of Catawissa, suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon along Route 487 near Doll Road.

According to state police at Stonington, Cosme had her 2001 Pontiac Sunfire stopped while waiting for a vehicle in front of her when Cooper's 2009 Chevrolet Impala struck the Sunfire from behind.

Cooper and Cosme were transported by Elysburg Ambulance to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

Cooper was cited for following a vehicle too closely.

Simple assault

GILBERTON - Paul Chicora, 30, of Gilberton, was charged by state police at Frackville with simple assault and harassment involving a disturbance at 4:15 a.m. Monday at 6 Long Row.

Police reported Chicora began verbally abusing a 21-year-old Gilberton woman before assaulting her. Police said Chicora pushed the victim to the ground, grabbed at her face, pulled her hair, burned her cheek with a lit cigarette and choked her.

Police reported Chicora then left the residence for several hours before returning and fighting with the victim again. During the second assault, police said Chicora pushed the victim through a wall, which left an impression of her body in the drywall.

The victim then called 911 for police, who found Chicora hiding in a basement.

The victim suffered several bruises on her face and neck and a burn on her face.

Chicora was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Oil voucher stolen

GIRARDVILLE - State police at Frackville reported someone stole an oil voucher for 100 gallons of heating oil from the front door at the residence of a 60-year-old Girardville woman at 126 W. Ogden St. between 5 and 7 p.m. Monday.

Storm grate stolen

EAST CAMERON TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are investigating the theft of a storm grate over the weekend from Creek Road, approximately three-tenths of a mile west of Route 125.

Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call state police at 286-5601.

Man charged with simple assault

Robert James Jones, 24, and Jason Raymond Rought, 33, both of Laceyville have recently been charged with simple assault and harassment relating to a Jan. 25 incident in Tuscarora Township. According to police, Jones and Rought punched and kicked an unidentified victim. The victim had several deep lacerations on the left side of his face, a large cut in his upper lip, a cut on his left cheek and multiple lacerations on his left forehead, police said. Both men have been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on March 26 for a preliminary hearing.

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

- James Alan Zafonte, 47, of Montour Falls, NY, by state police, on Feb. 20, on state Route 187 at North Rome Rd. in Rome. Zafonte has also been charged with careless driving. Zafonte has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on April 2 for a preliminary hearing.

- Mary Blokzyl, 43, of Towanda, by state police, on Feb. 8, at the Wendy's on Golden Mile Road in Wysox. A blood test later revealed that Blokzyl had MDPV in her system at the time of arrest. MDPV is an active ingredient in bath salts. Blokzyl has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on March 26 for a preliminary hearing.

- Jon V. Perry, 22, of Waverly, by Sayre borough police, on Jan. 24, on North Lehigh Avenue in Sayre. A blood alcohol test revealed that Perry had a blood alcohol content of .19 percent on the day of his arrest. Perry has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on March 19 for a preliminary hearing.

- Tonya Louise Mize, 26, of Athens, by Athens Township police, on Feb. 16, on Riverside Drive in Athens Township. Mize has also been charged with failing to drive on the right side of the roadway and careless driving. A blood alcohol test later revealed that Mize's blood alcohol content was .15 percent on the day of her arrest. Mize has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw March 19 for a preliminary hearing.

Waverly man charged with possession

A Waverly man was recently arrested by village police on a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

According to information from village police, David A. Soprano, 50, was also charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon.

Police said Soprano was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and several weapons, including a billy club, several knives and a BB gun with its safety markings removed, during a traffic stop in the village.

Further investigation revealed that Soprano had been out selling methamphetamine and bath salts at the time of the stop, police said. A search warrant executed on Soprano's residence turned up additional narcotics and a gun, police said.

Soprano was arraigned in Waverly village court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail, police said. Police expected further charges to be filed against Soprano following the investigation.

Waverly police make arrests

The following people were recently arrested by Waverly village police:

- James D. Rogers, 21, of Waverly, on a bench warrant for harassment.

- Chris W. Robertson, 22, of Barton, for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Robertson was arrested following a traffic stop, police said.

- Allen Crawn, 23, of Barton, for petit larceny. Police said Crawn is accused of stealing a mini bike.

- Dakota A. Yerkes, 18, of Elmira, N.Y., for driving while intoxicated, driving with .08 percent or higher blood alcohol content and underage possession of alcohol. Yerkes was arrested following a traffic stop, police said.

Man arrested for harassment

A Waverly man was recently arrested by Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies on a charge of aggravated harassment.

According to information from the sheriff's office, Robert C. Corby Sr., 30, was arrested Feb. 21 after allegedly continuously sending aggravating and annoying text messages to a female victim.

Corby was arraigned in Barton town court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $500 bail or $1,000 bond. Corby is scheduled to reappear in court March 5.

Woman charged with assault

A Burlington woman was recently arrested by Athens Township police on a charge of simple assault.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Tracey L. Weldy, 36, was also charged with harassment.

Police said that at about 12:35 a.m. Feb. 23, Weldy struck and scratched a male victim operating a vehicle at the intersection of routes 199 and 220.

Weldo was arraigned Feb. 23 and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail. Weldy's preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 5.

Man charged following Walmart incident

A Nichols, N.Y. man was recently arrested by Athens Township police on a charge of retail theft.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Daniel J. Butler, 26, was also charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

Police said Butler consumed snacks and destroyed merchandise worth about $224 at about 1:52 a.m. Feb. 23 at the Walmart on Elmira Street. Butler also urinated on the shelves, police said. Butler had a strong odor of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and passed out in the chip aisle, police said.

Butler was arraigned Feb. 23 and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail, which he later posted, according to information from district court. Butler's preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 12.

Man faces hearing on fraud charge

Russell Allen Mathews, 21, of Green Mountain Road, Gillett, is accused of stealing a check and using the account information to pay for calls to sex hotlines from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31 at a residence on Green Mountain Road in Ridgebury Township, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

In an affidavit, Pennsylvania State Police Trooper David Pelachick said that his investigation began when the victim, Patricia Ann Mathews, 54, of Gillett, stated that her son, Russell Allen Mathews, had stolen one of her checks from her checkbook and used her account information for the calls.

She had noticed three debits totaling more than $1,000 and reported the fraudulent activity to the bank.

Russell Allen Mathews, who was charged with access device fraud, admitted to the theft. Each call was about one or two hours in length.

Wilcox said Russell Allen Mathews' bail was set at $20,000, which wasn't posted. He was placed in Bradford County Correctional Facility.

He faces a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. March 6 before Wilcox.

Man charged with terroristic threats

Shane Nicholas Stout, 18, of Columbia Cross Roads has been charged with terroristic threats for threatening to shoot someone at his residence on Big Pond Road in Springfield Township, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

In an affidavit, Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Frank Naughton said that the victim, Taylor Gordon, no age or address given, went to Stout's house around 3:50 p.m. Feb. 7 to pick up some of her belongings that she had left there. Stout is her ex-boyfriend. She was with her brother, Dillon Gordon, no age or address given, and her brother's friend, Nate Horton, no age or address given, according to the affidavit.

While getting her belongings, she and Stout got into an argument over property. Eventually, she said, Stout "got real upset" and told them to leave "or he would shoot them." Stout went back into the house and came out with a gun and fired it up into the air over her head, according to the affidavit.

Stout admitted to shooting the gun into the air, Naughton said.

In addition, Stout has been charged with recklessly endangering another person.

Stout faces a preliminary hearing at 1:15 p.m. March 27 before Wilcox. He was sent a summons.

Man faces hearing on terroristic threats

Travis Levi Ott, 36, of Alba, has been charged with terroristic threats and harassment for threatening someone with a knife around 11:50 a.m. Feb. 10 on Route 14 in Alba, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Brandon Allis said in an affidavit that he was dispatched to Alba for a report of someone armed with a knife who was making threats.

Tango Marbaker, no age or address given, told police that she and Ott, her brother, got into an argument "over his drug addiction and his refusal to report to a rehab center," and Ott then grabbed a knife and pointed it toward her, stating, "anybody tries to come near me and they'll be dead." She said that she immediately left the room and called 911.

Ott faces a preliminary hearing before Wilcox at 1 p.m. April 3.

Woman faces hearing on theft

Jennette Lorraine Van Ness, 21, of Fairhope, Ala. faces a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. March 6 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox on charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition, theft by deception, and bad checks for an incident that took place Sept. 15-16, 2011 at First Citizens National Bank in Wells Township, according to court papers.

In an affidavit, Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Thad Warnick said that Van Ness opened a checking account and deposited a business check for $2,750 into the account on Sept. 15, and returned to the bank on Sept. 16 and withdrew $1,300 in cash and then $1,400. On Sept. 20, the bank was advised through their main branch that the check was not authorized.

Wilcox said that Van Ness' bail was set at $65,000, and she was placed in Bradford County Correctional Facility.

City police responded to the following incidents:

n Officers were called to 268 N. Pennsylvania Ave. at 5:40 p.m. Monday to a report of a domestic dispute. Toni Root and Root's son, Oreste Ruotolo, got into an argument and Ruotolo slapped Root in the face several times, police said. Root was not injured. Ruotolo fled the scene and will be cited for harassment, police said.

n Ray Motyka reported at 7:50 p.m. Monday that someone had thrown a piece of concrete and shattered his upstairs bedroom window. No arrests were made.

n Police on Wednesday sought a warrant charging Alono E. McClinton, 31, of Nanticoke with burglary and harassment.

n Michael Cephus, 38, of Wilkes-Barre was charged Wednesday with manufacturing, delivering or possessing a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance, use or possession of drug paraphernalia and providing false identification to police. Bail was set at $25,000.

The Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement on Wednesday cited American Legion Post 609 at 320 Lee Park Ave. in Hanover Township for a liquor law violation. State police say the operation was involved in gambling activity on Jan. 29. The case will be brought before an administrative law judge.

Jackson Township police are investigating a burglary that took place Tuesday between 1:30 and 5:30 p.m. A Dell laptop computer, an external hard drive stand and cash were taken.

State police at Wyoming responded to a home on state Route 29 in Lake Township about 9 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a burglary. A 35-year-old man reported two intruders had broken into the home and stolen a 55-inch LG flat-screen TV and a Nintendo Wii game with a combined value of about $1,800.

MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court in Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n Hali Lynn Matzura, 25, of 1111 N. Third St., Harrisburg, waived three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Matzura is accused of possessing one tablet each of alprazolam and Ativan, three Suboxone strips and a cap to a hypodermic needle allegedly found during a traffic stop Nov. 24 on the Merriam Highway. Charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman David Stamets Jr.

n David B. Barker, 28, of 229 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, waived one count each of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of a controlled substance and a high-beam violation. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

The charges stem from a Nov. 11 incident on Route 54 near the former Boylan's Garage. Police say Barker had a blood-alcohol content of .120 percent and also had marijuana in his system. Charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman David Stamets Jr.

n Matthew L. Patterson, 37, of 14 E. Mill St., Elysburg, waived two counts of driving under the influence and one count of careless driving. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

The charges stem from a Sept. 17 traffic stop on Route 54 near Dave's Flowers in Elysburg. Charges were filed by Ralpho Township Patrolman Stephen Spade.

n Ronald Miller, 67, of 1143 Poplar St., Kulpmont, waived two counts of driving under the influence and one count each of careless driving and accidents involving damage to unattended property. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

He is accused of having a blood alcohol level of 0.223 percent on Dec. 22, the night he allegedly drove into the rear of his neighbor's parked vehicle five times. Charges were filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Michael Pitcavage.

n Charges of theft by deception, receiving stolen property and bad checks were withdrawn against Cassandra Lei Hendricks, 29, of 395 Queen St., Northumberland. She was accused of issuing two bad checks in November to Stanley Romanoski for 200 gallons of heating oil. Full restitution was paid.

n Joshua Glenn Daubert, 19, of 651 Scott St., Kulpmont, waived one count each of drug possession of drug paraphernalia possession. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Police were dispatched to his residence Feb. 1 after his mother called 911 to report that he took a drug and was very confused and could barely move. A search warrant was obtained and 21 grams of marijuana and various paraphernalia, including pipes and rolling papers, were recovered, police say. Charges were filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Joshua Pastucka.

n Two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of harassment were held to court against Rebecca Jo Vanbrocklin, 27, of 1426 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, who failed to appear for a preliminary hearing.

The charges stem from a noise complaint at her home Dec. 30 and were filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Cade Holden.

n David Xavier Hernandez, 18, of 244 W. Cherry St., Mount Carmel, waived one count of corruption of minors. His bail was reduced at the hearing from monetary to $20,000 unsecured, and he was released.

The charge was filed following a disturbance with his parents at their home Dec. 27. He is accused of having a relationship with a 14-year-old girl which, police say, was confirmed by both Hernandez and the girl's mother. However, police say Hernandez did not say if the relationship was sexual. Mount Carmel Patrolman Justin Stelma filed the charge.

Loitering/Prowling investigation

State police are continuing to investigate a report of loitering and prowling at night on Lawrence St. in New Albany Township that occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 8. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at (570) 265-2186.

Antonio James Hawley, 21, was recently charged with simple assault relating to a Feb. 8 incident in New Albany. According to police, Hawley pushed a 24-year-old female and struck a 33 year-old-male in the face after being told he had to move out of their apartment. Hawley fled the scene but was later arrested after police obtained a warrant.

Ulster man faces charges after accidents

Barry Lee Ford, 49, of Ulster is accused of causing a hit-and-run crash recently in a construction zone in Ulster Township and then getting into another accident the same day in which his vehicle struck a barn in Athens Township, police said.

The accidents took place on the afternoon of Feb. 25, while Ford was under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Ford is accused of rear-ending a vehicle that had stopped in the construction zone, which was located on U.S. Route 220, just north of Bridge Street, police said.

Ford's vehicle then struck the barn, which is located near the intersection of Wolcott Hollow Road and Route 220, police said.

Ford was charged with DUI, fleeing the scene of the accidents, and careless driving, state police at Towanda said.

Ford was arraigned by Wysox Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on Feb. 25.

Ford was then sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Ford must appear before Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.

Wysox man charged with assault

Jody M. Allen of Wysox is accused of forcing his way into Jennifer Devine's residence in Towanda at 5:45 a.m. on Feb. 24, police said.

Devine reported to the authorities that Allen then choked her and hit her several times in her side, according to the Towanda police.

Allen also allegedly threatened Devine with further bodily harm during the incident, which occurred at 5:45 a.m. on Feb. 24 along Means Street, police said.

Devine told police that Allen's actions were in violation of a protection-from-abuse order, according to the Towanda police.

Allen, 37, has been charged with burglary, criminal trespass, simple assault, terroristic threats, stalking, harassment, loitering and prowling at night, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness, police said.

Allen was arrested and then arraigned on Feb. 25 by Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark. Allen was then sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Allen must appear before Judge Clark on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.

DUI charges

The following person was recently charged with driving under the influence in Bradford County:

Todd Alan Parsons, 51, of Towanda, by the Towanda Police, on Feb. 2, on Third Street in Towanda Borough. Parsons was also cited for driving with a suspended license. A test revealed that Parsons' blood alcohol content was .225 percent on the day of his arrest.

Theft reported

State police at Towanda said they are investigating the theft of cash, checks and Pennsylvania vehicle inspection stickers that were stolen between Jan. 4-7 from Eighmey Chevrolet-Buick dealership in Troy Township.

Trooper Youngblood said anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.

Man resists arrest

State police at Towanda said that Jon-Luc Ethan Packard, 21, of Burlington Township, created a disturbance and resisted arrest at 12:40 p.m. Feb. 12 on Route 6 in Burlington Township.

Trooper Brandon Allis said the victim was a 62-year-old Burlington Township man.

Rubbish scattered

State police at Towanda said that Julius King III, 40, of Towanda, and Mandi King, 31, of Towanda, deposited trash on the shoulder of the roadway on Shepherd Road near Haines Road sometime between Feb. 23-24 in Burlington Township.

Range stolen

TREVORTON - A Trevorton man told Zerbe Township Police that an electric glass-top range was stolen from his front porch overnight Friday.

The range, for which no model was given, was reported stolen from the porch of Robert Allan Jr., 51, of 129 W. Shamokin St. Its value is estimated between $800 and $1,000.

3-car crash

HUMMELS WHARF - No one was injured in a crash Tuesday at an intersection near Papa John's on the Susquehanna Trail (Routes 11/15) in Monroe Township, Snyder County.

Trooper Kyle Whitford, of the state police at Selinsgrove, reported Bryan S. Heffner, 20, of Shamokin Dam, was driving a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta GLI east on Park Road about 4:45 p.m. when he failed to stop at a red light and traveled onto Susquehanna Trail and into the path of a northbound 2008 Subaru Outback driven by Kay M. Bachman, 58, of Middleburg.

The impact sent Bachman's vehicle into the southbound lanes where it collided with a 2004 Toyota Camry driven by Andrey Shevchenko, 45, of Sunbury.

Whitford said all three drivers were wearing seat belts, and a 7-year-old girl who was a passenger in Bachman's vehicle was properly restrained in a child safety seat.

All three vehicles sustained damages, he said, with the Volkswagen and Subaru towed.

Heffner was charged with failing to stop at a red traffic signal.

Fake $100 bills

FRACKVILLE - Two women passed six fake $100 bills in three stores inside Schuylkill Mall on Monday, according to state police at Frackville.

Trooper Edward Sanchez described the two suspects as black females dressed in black clothing with cornrowed hair. The women, he said, looked to be between 35 and 45 years old.

Mall security followed the duo after the initial bill was discovered to be fake. However, they were unable to apprehend the women or obtain vehicle information.

The bills were passed in Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works and f.y.e. Sanchez said all the bills had the same serial number and passed the detection marker test.

Woman charged with retail theft

State police at Towanda said that Shannon Marie Strobridge, 46, no address given, was charged with retail theft after she admitted to stealing items from Tops supermarket at 6:30 a.m. Feb. 23 in Troy Borough.

Items stolen

State police at Towanda said someone stole property from the Guthrie Clinic construction site sometime between 12:01 a.m. Jan. 16 and 2 p.m. Jan. 18 on Route 6 in Troy Township.

Trooper George W. Layaou said the victims were Lee Company of Franklin, Tenn. and Atlas Drywall of Memphis, Tenn. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact state police at Towanda at (570) 265-2186.

Indecent assault

State police at Towanda said they are investigating a report of an indecent assault incident Jan. 3 at the Bradford County Correctional Facility in West Burlington Township in which it's alleged that an inmate touched a fellow inmate.

PFA violation

State police at Towanda said a 17-year-old Canton male is accused of violating conditions of PFA orders filed on him by a 16-year-old Troy female.

Trooper Fisher said the incident took place at 3 p.m. Dec. 22 in Troy Township.

Aggravated assault

State police at Towanda said they are investigating an aggravated assault incident that took place Dec. 26 in Canton Township in which a three-month old suffered a broken arm.

DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Donald Stephen Blain, 59, of Athens, by Athens Township police, on Feb. 17, on Front Street in Athens Township. Blain was also charged with failure to keep right and careless driving. A blood alcohol test later revealed that Blain's blood alcohol content was .14 percent on the day of his arrest. Blain has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw April 2 for a preliminary hearing.

Police investigate hit-and-run

An Ulster man was recently arrested by state police on a charge of driving while intoxicated following a hit-and-run crash in Ulster Township.

According to information from state police, Barry Lee Ford, 49, was also charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident involving damage to an attended vehicle or property, careless driving and failure to give information and render aid.

Police said Ford was involved in a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident at about 3:30 p.m. Feb. 25 on Route 220 north of Bridge Street. The victim took down the registration number of the red Jeep Cherokee operated by Ford, which was traced back to him, police said. The victim reported no injuries, police said.

Following the hit-and-run, the Jeep struck a barn in Athens Township and fled the scene, police said. Police later located the vehicle in a trailer park off Wolcott Hollow Road, where Ford was found staggering on a front porch, police said.

Ford told police he had recently operated the Jeep, police said. Officers observed the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Ford's breath and saw he appeared intoxicated, police said. Police transported Ford to Towanda Memorial Hospital for a blood test, police said.

Ford was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $25,000 straight bail, police said. Ford's preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 13.

Tractor trailer overturns in Cherry Twp.

A tractor trailer loaded with logs rolled over at 3 p.m. Thursday in an accident on state Route 487 in Cherry Township, Sullivan County, police said.

Patrick Blow, 62, of Wyalusing was driving the truck north on Route 487 when he lost control of the vehicle on a left-hand curve in the roadway, police said.

The truck traveled off the east side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, and continued traveling north along the guardrail, police said.

Once the vehicle reached the end of the guardrail, it rolled over onto its passenger side, police said.

Blow, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury, police said.

The truck was severely damaged, police said.

Several traffic citations were filed against Blow for traffic violations, according to the state police at Laporte.

The accident occurred just north of Farrells Road, police said.
