Wedding band found

ELYSBURG - A men's wedding band was found in the parking lot of the Ralpho Township gymnasium and was given to police. The owner may contact Ralpho Township Police at 672-9892 to describe and claim it.

4-car crash

HALIFAX TOWNSHIP - A Shamokin man and three other drivers were not injured in a four-vehicle accident on Peters Mountain Road in this Dauphin County township Thursday morning, according to state police at Lykens.

Trooper David Yearick said Joshua Lenker, 26, of Shamokin, driving a 2007 Toyota Tacoma; Sheri A. Shaffer, 46, of Lemoyne, driving a 2002 Acura RSX, and Laura J. Elder, 66, of Elizabethville, driving a 2010 Jeep Compass, were stopped in the southbound lane of Route 147/225 near Highland Tire and Sheetz at 7:46 a.m. Dec. 13.

Kyle T. Smithgall, 21, of Duncannon, failed to stop his 2002 Chevrolet S10 and collided with the rear of Lenker's vehicle, pushing it into Shaffer's vehicle, which pushed into Elder's vehicle, police said.

No injuries were reported and all drivers were wearing their seat belts, police said.

Smithgall's and Shaffer's vehicles were removed from the scene by S and S Towing and Kinder's Towing respectively, police said.

Charges are pending against Smithgall for suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.

DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Terrance Raymond Maguire, Jr., 40, of Towanda, by state police, on Nov. 25, on State Route 220 near Bishop's Restaurant. Maguire has also been charged with careless driving. A blood alcohol test later revealed that Maguire's blood alcohol content was .17 percent on the day of his arrest. Maguire has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Jan. 16 for a preliminary hearing.

Joy Marie Simons-Bayles, 38, of Towanda, by state police, on Nov. 19, on State Route 6 and Hawkins Road in North Towanda Township. Simons-Bayles has also been charged with careless driving. A blood alcohol test later revealed that Simons-Bayles' blood alcohol content was .134 percent on the day of her arrest. Simons-Bayles has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Jan. 9 for a preliminary hearing.

Kelsey Nicole Smith, 19, of Athens, by state police, on Nov. 25, on State Route 220 near Bishop's Restaurant. Smith has also been charged with careless driving. A blood alcohol test later revealed that Smith's blood alcohol content was .069 percent on the day of her arrest. Smith has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Jan. 9 for a preliminary hearing.

Three face charges in bar fight

Marty Jo Stroud, 38, of Towanda, Wendy Sue Garner, 31, of Towanda, and Toris Sylvester Garner, 36, of Towanda are all facing charges of simple assault. The charges relate to an incident that occurred at the Bucket of Blood Bar in Towanda Township at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Oct. 21. According to police, all three suspects allegedly struck the victim, Candace Hercenberg, in the face and torso areas. Hercenberg reportedly suffered three fractured ribs, a black eye, and numerous scratches from the assault. Toris Garner was also charged with disorderly conduct; Wendy Garner was charged with criminal mischief, and Stroud was charged with harassment, police said. All three defendants have been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Jan. 23 for a preliminary hearing.

Drug paraphernalia

Mark M. Capwell, 18, of Rome was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia relating to an incident that occurred on Nov. 14 in Sheshequin Township. Police said they found Capwell with a hypodermic needle in his pocket. Capwell has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Jan. 16 for a preliminary hearing.

Prowling at night

Daniel Wallace Wade Tinsley, 27, of New Albany has recently been cited with loitering and prowling at night. The charges relate to a Nov. 28 incident in Monroeton that occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. Police said Tinsley was spotted looking into the back of a truck that was parked at a private residence. Tinsley has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Jan. 9 for a preliminary hearing.

Harassment reported

State police at Towanda said that Charles Kelly Davis, 44, of Washington, Pa., and Michael Herring, 46, of Walnut, Miss. were involved in a physical altercation sometime between 8 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. Dec. 3 in Burlington Township.

Man not injured

State police at Towanda said John W. Duart, 42, of Horseheads, N.Y. was not injured in a crash at 6:45 a.m. Nov. 24 on Route 14 in South Creek Township.

Police said he was heading south, lost control on the slippery road, and his vehicle spun clockwise before rolling over. Police said his GMC Envoy came to rest facing north on all four tires.

Theft reported

State police at Towanda said a 21-year-old Canton Township man paid for a vehicle that he found online, and never received the vehicle.

Police said the incident took place at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 1 on Beech Flat Road in Canton Township.

No injuries reported

State police at Towanda said Adam H. Gonyaw, 25, of Westfield, Vt. was not injured in a crash on Hanks Road at 8:05 p.m. Nov. 29 in West Burlington Township.

Police said he was traveling west and his Chevrolet Malibu went off the road and onto the northern roadside, struck a tree, and came to rest facing west.

Police said he was charged for a violation of "roadways laned for traffic."

Man charged

State police at Towanda said that William C. Harris, no age given, of Lookout Road, Troy, was charged with theft from a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property, in District Court 42-3-01, after stealing a 31-year-old woman's purse from her vehicle while it was parked in her driveway at 4 p.m. Nov. 15 on Porter Road in Troy Township.

Person injured

State police at Towanda said that Melissa M. Arnold, 22, of Canton, had a minor injury in a two-vehicle accident at 5:05 p.m. Nov. 29 on Route 6 at the Bradford County Library in West Burlington Township.

Police said the other driver involved in the accident was Vernon W. Bristol, 49, of Canton, who wasn't injured.

According to police, Arnold was traveling east and Bristol was driving west when Arnold tried to make a left turn to the library. Police said their vehicles collided, and Arnold's Chevrolet Cavalier spun counterclockwise and came to rest facing west on Route 6.

Police said Bristol's Subaru Outback went off the northern roadside of Route 6 and into a ditch, rolled onto its passenger side facing west, and came to rest.

Police said Arnold was charged with a violation of "roadways laned for traffic."

Woman faces hearing on criminal mischief

Vanessa Ward, 22, of Chemung, N.Y. faces a preliminary hearing at 1:45 p.m. Dec. 26 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on a charge of criminal mischief for an incident that took place around 11 p.m. Aug. 18 on Blakeslee Road in Smithfield Township, according to court papers.

The papers note that Ward is accused of using a sharp object to scratch and remove paint from the driver's side of a red 2009 Pontiac G5 owned by Meghan Hurley, no age or address given, causing $813.44 in damage.

Wilcox said Ward was sent a summons.

Man charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief

Lee R. Stearns, 43, of Broad Street, Waverly was arrested for misdemeanor criminal mischief on Dec. 14 at 12:20 a.m.

According to information provided by Waverly police, Stearns, while in an alleged intoxicated condition, forced entry into an apartment door, causing heavy damage to the door, at a residence on Broad Street in Waverly.

The owner of the rental property requested to file charges to have restitution paid.

Stearns was issued an appearance ticket to answer the allegations in the Village of Waverly Justice Court on Dec. 20 at 4 p.m.

Man arrested on warrant

As the result of a traffic stop on Tioga Street in Waverly at 1:36 a.m. on Dec. 14, Waverly police arrested Jason E. Whitten, 26, of 5 Tioga St., Waverly on a warrant for a previous DWI arrest.

Whitten was also charged with misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree (alcohol related) and misdemeanor possession of a hypodermic needle.

Whitten was arraigned in Village of Waverly Justice Court and was sent to the Tioga County Jail, Owego, N.Y. to await further court action.

Bail amount was set at $5,000.

- Drug/Narcotic Violation: At 4:36 a.m. Nov. 19, police responded to the 300 block of Bull Run Drive for report of suspicious vehicles. One of the passengers was found in possession of narcotics and was arrested.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following persons were recently sentenced in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Timothy VanHousen, 26, Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from 12 months to 36 months, and fines totaling $1600, for the offenses of Simple Assault and Resisting Arrest, each a misdemeanor of the second degree, and Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, each a misdemeanor. VanHousen will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for six months. The sentences were imposed following earlier guilty pleas.

John R. Worthington, 27, Rome, Pa., was sentenced to probation for a term of 18 months, and a fine of $500, for the offense of Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution, a misdemeanor of the second degree. The sentence was imposed following an earlier guilty plea.

Tammy Jo Jones, 40, Ulster, Pa., was sentenced to County Intermediate Punishment for a term of 24 months with 30 days of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility followed by 90 days of house arrest under electronic monitoring and the remainder of the term on probation. Jones was also ordered to pay a fine of $1500 and she will lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for 18 months. The sentence followed Jones' earlier guilty plea to the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree.

Raymond S. Saxer, 34, Waverly, N.Y., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for a term of from four months to 18 months, and a fine of $500, for the offense of Obstruction of Administration of Law or Other Governmental Function, a misdemeanor of the second degree. The sentence followed an earlier guilty plea.

Devin J. Coyle, 20, Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for a term of from five days to six months, and a fine of $1000, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Coyle will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. The sentence followed an earlier guilty plea.

Ashley Spencer, 24, Elmira, N.Y., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional facility for a term of from three months to 18 months, and a fine of $500, for the offense of Default in Required Appearance, a misdemeanor of the second degree. The sentence followed the revocation of Spencer's original sentence of probation due to violation of probation conditions.

James Carr, 21, Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to probation for a term of 12 months, and a fine of $100, for the offense of Default in Required Appearance, a misdemeanor of the second degree. The sentence followed an earlier guilty plea.

Zachary Cairns, 25, Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for a term of from 100 days to 18 months, and a fine of $1500, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Cairns will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 18 months. The sentence followed an earlier guilty plea.

Dylan Brown, 19, Waverly, N.Y., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for a term of from 6 months to 18 months, and a fine of $500, for the offense of Burglary, a felony. Brown was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $2836.22. The sentence followed an earlier guilty plea.

David R. Jones, 26, Bolt, W.Va., was sentenced to probation for a term of 6 months, and a fine of $1000, for the offense of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, a felony of the third degree. Jones will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. The sentence followed an earlier guilty plea.

Paul Crispell, 29, Gillett, Pa., was sentenced imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility for a total term of from 13 months plus 10 days to 42 months, and fines totaling $2500, for the offenses of Acquisition of a Controlled Substance by Fraud and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, each a felony, and Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor. Crispell will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 24 months. The sentences followed earlier guilty pleas.

Heather C. Butville, 26, Rome, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from three months to 12 months, and a fine of $500, for the offense of Bad Checks, a misdemeanor of the third degree. The sentence followed an earlier guilty plea.

Jenell L. Swingle, 28, Athens, Pa., was sentenced to County Intermediate Punishment for a term of 24 months for the offense of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a felony. Swingle was also ordered to reimburse the Commonwealth the Commonwealt of Pennsylvania in the amount of $180 for money used to purchase a controlled substance in connection with her arrest. Additionally, Swingle will lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for six months. The sentence followed an earlier guilty plea.

Miguel C. Vicioso, 49, Elmira, N.Y., was sentenced to probation for a term of six months, and a fine of $250, for the offense of Obstruction of Administration of Law or Other Governmental Function, a misdemeanor of the second degree. The sentence followed an earlier guilty plea.

Erin Gorman, 31, New Albany, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility for a term of from 12 months to 36 months, and a fine of $2500, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Gorman will also lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege fo 18 months. The sentence followed an earlier guilty plea.

Jesus D. Ortega-Sanchez, Okla., entered a plea of guilty to Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree, an offense punishable by imprisonment for up to five years. Trooper Michael Trebendis of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Ortega-Sanchez for the offense in July 2012.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following persons were recently placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) Program in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda. Participants in the ARD Program must serve a specified term of probation with monitoring for drug or alcohol use and/or perform community service. In DUI-related cases, participants lose their Pennsylvania driving privilege for up to 90 days and they must attend a Victim Impact Panel.

Hit-and-run accident

An unidentified female driver struck a parked vehicle in the parking lot of Smokin' Joes in Wyalusing at 10:07 a.m. on Dec. 8. The driver fled the scene after the incident occurred, police said. According to police, the driver was operating a black Ford F150 with New York license plates when she hit an unattended 2000 Saturn parked next to her. Witnesses or anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the state police in Towanda at (570) 265-2186.

Man accidentally shot in Rome

The state police at Towanda are investigating an incident in which a 37-year-old male was accidentally shot by an adult female between August and October 2012. The incident occurred in Rome Township. The victim treated the injury himself and did not seek medical attention, police said. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Marijuana possession

Levi Foux, 31, of Sugar Run was found possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Nov. 20 by the state police. The discovery was made on Cotter Road, in Wilmot Township.

New Albany sex offender charged

David Kenneth Meyers, 50, of New Albany has recently been charged with failing to comply with sexual offender registration requirements. Meyers allegedly moved to New Albany from Delaware and did not register his change of address as required. Meyers was remanded to Bradford County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail, police said. A preliminary hearing was held on Nov. 28 at which Meyers waived the charge into the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas.

New York man charged for inappropriate text messages to minor

Garrett Maurouard, 19, of Olean, N.Y. has recently been charged with possessing obscene and other sexual materials, unlawful contact with a minor, and corruption of minors. According to police, Maurouard was charged after an investigation determined that he sent an explicit photograph of himself to a 14 year old female and attempted to obtain explicit photographs from her. Pennsylvania State Police are currently working to find and extradite Maurouard from New York to face his charges.

Rome woman injured in domestic dispute

State police are investigating a report of simple assault on a 43-year-old female. The incident occurred in Rome Township between Aug. 1 and Aug. 3. According to police, the male suspect caused the victim to fracture her collarbone during an altercation at their residence. The investigation into this incident is currently ongoing.

Gas cans found in Windham Twp.

Two red plastic gas cans were found on Cadis Road in Windham Township on Dec. 13. Anyone who is missing two gas cans in the area can contact state police in Towanda at (570) 265-2186.

Theft occurs in Colley Twp.

Someone took a black and gray iPad from a chair sometime between 2:30 and 3:20 p.m. on Dec. 1, in the recreation center at the Red Rock Job Jorps Center on state Route 487, in Colley Township in Sullivan County, according to a report from state police.

Possible DUI

Timothy L. Ulrich Jr., 25, of Danville, was placed into custody by state police for suspected DUI after an accident at 4 a.m. Monday on Bowden Road near the intersection of Logan Run Road, said Trooper Thomas Leib, state police at Stonington.

According to police, Ulrich was driving west when he lost control of the pickup, which left the road and struck a fence post before rolling onto its driver side. He suffered minor injuries and was able to exit the vehicle on his own power.

Charges are pending the result of blood testing. Ulrich was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, Leib said.

He was cited for driving on the wrong side of the road.

Assisting at the scene were Elysburg Ambulance, Elysburg Fire Department and Southside Fire Co.

Brothers fight

SHAMOKIN - Two brothers were cited by city police for fighting Wednesday night in the 100 block of North Rock Street.

Patrolman Darwin Tobias III said Craig C. Becker Jr., 26, and his 23-year-old brother, Nathan A. Becker, were shouting at each other before they began fighting in the middle of the street about 10:40 p.m.

Nathan A. Becker lives at 917 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, while his brother's last known address is 915 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, according to citations filed by Tobias.

Ice causes wreck

COAL TOWNSHIP - Township police say an icy patch on Route 901 caused a one-vehicle crash early Saturday morning.

Eric Quintero, 24, of Mount Carmel, was driving a 2004 Nissan 350 Z west about 6 a.m. when he hit ice, causing the vehicle to spin out of control and into a guide rail, Patrolman Chad Yoder said.

Barking dogs

SHAMOKIN - A South Fifth Street woman was cited by city police for allowing her dogs to bark after multiple complaints were made Saturday evening.

Kelly B. Moser, 29, of 334 S. Fifth St., was cited by Patrolman Darwin Tobias III following complaints made about 6:45 p.m.

Police say it was the second noise disturbance reported against Moser that day.

DUI checkpoints planned locally for New Year's Eve

On Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, the state police will be conducting sobriety checkpoints on Bradford County roadways that have experienced a high number of DUI arrests and collisions in the past, police said.

Wysox man charged with attempted rape

Dustin Curt Johnson, 28, of Wysox has been charged with attempted rape, intimidation of a victim, corruption of minors, and indecent assault, police said.

The charges are based on allegations made a girl who said that Johnson had sexual contact with her on several occasions in 2009 and 2010, police said.

The victim was under the age of 13 at the time of the incidents, which occurred in Bradford County, police said.

The victim also said that Johnson threatened her if she reported his actions, police said.

Johnson was arraigned on Dec. 3 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark. Johnson was then sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Two other charges that had been initially lodged against Johnson in connection with this case - attempted aggravated indecent assault and indecent exposure - were dropped by the District Attorney's office, according to the Wysox District Court.

At the close of a preliminary hearing on Dec. 11, Wysox Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton ordered that the remaining four charges be held for court.

Johnson is scheduled to be arraigned on the remaining four charges on Jan. 14 in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas.

No injuries in two-car accident

A 16 year old female from Laceyville has been charged with failing to yield the right-of-way relating to a two car crash in Wyalusing Borough on Dec. 5 at 3:41 p.m.

The crash occurred on Church Street at its intersection with Marsh Street when the 16-year-old failed to see a 1999 Jeep Cherokee operated by Loribeth Barden, 23, of Rome. The 16 year old then pulled out from a stop sign into the path of Barden and struck her vehicle, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Criminal mischief occurs in Wyalusing Twp.

An unidentified person allegedly drove on the lawn of Camptown Elementary School on the night of Dec. 8 into Dec. 9 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Police said there was damage caused to the grass.

Burglary occurs in Rome

A 34-year-old male from Rome reported a burglary that occurred as his residence sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 9.

The burglary occurred along Seven Hills Drive in Rome when someone entered the victim's residence and stole money, police said.

State police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police in Towanda at 570-265-2186.

Theft occurs in Rome

A complaint was filed with state police stating that between Nov. 28 and Dec. 7 various items were stolen from a property on North Orwell Hill Road in Rome.

The items stolen include a slide in wrecker body for a truck, a wood stove, steel steps, and approximately 100 feet of copper wire, police said.

A 47-year-old female reported to state police that a window on the side of her house was damaged by an unknown object on Dec. 7 between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m..

According to police, nothing was stolen from inside the residence and no other damage occurred.

Man arrested after Forksville crash

Douglas Downey, 42, of Port Carbon, Pa., was arrested for DUI following a recent accident on state Route 87 in Forksville Borough, Sullivan County, police said.

The accident occurred at 10:10 p.m. Monday, when Downey drove through a fence and a yard before getting his vehicle stuck in a ditch and wedged against a small wooden bridge, police said.

The accident occurred north of Sullivan County Rural Electric Cooperative, police said.

Counterfeit $10 bill used at Mildred store

An unidentified individual used a counterfeit $10 bill recently to purchase merchandise at the Dandy Mini Mart on state Route 487 in Mildred, Sullivan County, police said.

A similar incident occurred on Nov. 13 at the Dandy Mini Mart in North Towanda Township, state police said.

Anyone with information related to this crime is asked to contact the state police at Laporte at (570) 946-4610.

Vandalism occurs in Monroe Twp.

State police said they are trying to determine who damaged a 71-year-old man's mailbox on Mountain Road in Monroe Township.

The vandalism occurred at 6:45 p.m. on Nov. 9, police said.

Towanda man cited for harassment

Gary Lee Johnson of South Main Street, Towanda has been cited for the summary offense of harassment, police said.

The citation stems from an incident that occurred at 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 12 on South Main Street in Towanda Township, police said.

During this incident, the 21-year-old Johnson and a 21-year-old woman were arguing over an issue related to their child, police said.

During the argument, Johnson grabbed the woman by both arms as she tried to leave the residence, police said.

The woman suffered a minor injury, according to the state police at Towanda.

TREVORTON - Zerbe Township police reported a camera was found Sunday evening at the Trevorton Christmas-tree lighting ceremony at the Foundry. The owner can claim the camera by calling police and describing it at 797-4637.

Theft charges

COAL TOWNSHIP - Brandon S. Herb, 23, of Box 713, Coal Township RR 1, has been charged by Detective Jeff Brennan with theft-related offenses relating to the thefts of a motorcycle and car in September.

Herb is charged with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing a Honda CRF 250 motorcycle valued at $8,000 from Charles Backes, of 870 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, between 5:30 p.m. Sept. 11 and 10:40 a.m. Sept. 12.

He also is charged with theft and receiving stolen property relating to the theft of a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero owned by Jennifer Reed, of 941 W. Independence St., Coal Township. Police said the theft occurred between 6:30 and 9:45 p.m. Sept. 12.

Herb, who is currently incarcerated at SCI-Frackville, was arraigned on the charges Tuesday morning by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was ordered to appear for plea court Jan. 28 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

Simple assault

COAL TOWNSHIP - Robert Allen Wehner, 37, of 1557 Wabash St., Coal Township, has been charged by Patrolman Jason Adams with simple assault and harassment involving a Nov. 17 disturbance at his residence.

According to a criminal complaint, Wehner is accused of repeatedly pushing, punching, grabbing and kicking his live-in girlfriend, Brandy Johnson, causing her to suffer bruising and contusions on the left side of her face, arm, chest, knee and right arm.

Police said the assault occurred at 1 a.m.

Wehner, who is incarcerated at Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury on a probation detainer, was arraigned Tuesday morning by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, who set unsecured bail at $2,500.

False identification

SHAMOKIN - Charges of false identification to police and disorderly conduct have been filed by Patrolman Jarrod Scandle against Nicholas E. Ehrmann, 40, of 236 S. Coal St., Coal Township.

Ehrmann is accused of burning wood in a makeshift fire ring in a wooded area just south of the Patsy Steps at Rock and Spruce streets on Nov. 30 and then falsely identifying himself.

Liquor law violation

KULPMONT - Kulpmont Fire Company, 9 N. Eighth St., has been charged by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement with a gambling device violation relating to an Oct. 25 incident at the fire company.

According to state police, the fire company is accused of possessing or operating gambling devices or permitting gambling or lotteries, pool selling and/or bookmaking on its licensed premises.

Two-vehicle accident

ELYSBURG - Two Elysburg drivers were transported to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Routes 54 and 487 at 2:21 p.m. Monday, according to Ralpho Township Police.

A vehicle operated by Amanda Lee Andrulewicz, 35, was traveling northbound on Route 487 and struck a vehicle operated by Cheryl S. Wagner, 55, that was traveling westbound on Route 54, police said.

After the impact, Wagner's vehicle rotated 180 degrees, police said.

Assisting at the scene were Elysburg and Ralpho Fire Department, Elysburg Ambulance Company and AREA Services, police said.

The investigation continues.

Rocks cause crash

COOPER TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash on River Drive near County Line Road at 9:25 p.m. Monday in this Montour County township.

State police at Milton reported a 2001 Volkswagen Golf driven by Russell W. Heath, 20, of Danville, was traveling east on River Road when the vehicle struck boulders in the road that were placed there from an earlier rock slide. Heath struck the boulders with the Golf's undercarriage, causing disabling damage.

Heath and his passenger, Tyler R. Gerringer, 19, of Danville, were not injured in the crash and PennDOT was notified to clear the roadway. The Golf had to be towed from the scene.

Criminal mischief charges

Michael Scott Brown, 42, of Pennsylvania Avenue in Towanda was arrested for criminal mischief and resisting arrest relating to a Dec. 10 incident on Bridge Street in Towanda. Brown is accused of smashing the window of a residence at 112 Bridge St. Police said Brown fled the residence after someone inside the house threw an object at him. Brown has also been charged with disorderly conduct, loitering and prowling at night, and public drunkeness.

Brown had a preliminary hearing on Dec. 19 where all charges were waived for court. Brown's formal arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 17.

Drugs stolen from vehicle

Jason Ryan Ragan, 22, of Towanda has recently been charged with criminal mischief, criminal trespass and theft from a motor vehicle relating to a Dec. 7 incident at his mother's residence at 24 Moose Lane in Franklin Township.

Police said Ragan broke into and stole 40 Percocet pills from his mother's Dodge Durango that was parked at the residence.

The value of the pills stolen was $24.40 and the estimated vehicle damage was approximately $500, police said.

Ragan has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Jan. 30 for a preliminary hearing.

Woman charged with theft

Camille Geraldine Faso, 64, of Towanda has recently been charged with theft of lost property, theft by unlawful taking or disposition and receiving stolen property in relation to an incident that occurred on Dec. 6 at The Willow Tree Cafe. Faso allegedly took a wallet belonging to Doris Brown that had been misplaced in the bathroom of the cafe.

Faso has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Jan. 23 for a preliminary hearing.

DUI Charges

The following person has been charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Dezirae Hope Specht, 21, of Monroeton, by the state police, on September 19, on Doane Hill Road at Sleepy Hollow Lane in Burlington Township. Specht has also been charged with careless driving. A blood test revealed that Specht had been driving with 26 ng. of bath salts in her system on the day of her arrest.

Specht has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Jan. 23 for a preliminary hearing.

Burglary reported

State police at Towanda said that Jonathan Butler, 34, of Towanda, is accused of entering an unlocked garage of a 63-year-old Towanda man sometime between 8 p.m. Sept. 22 and 8 a.m. Sept. 23 on the Burlington Turnpike in Towanda Township, removing the man's ATV, and fleeing south on the Burlington Turnpike.

Woman assaulted

State police at Towanda said that Shane Timothy Clapper, 22, of Monroeton, is accused of entering the residence of a 26-year-old Towanda woman, through an unlocked window, at 6 a.m. Oct. 21 on the Burlington Turnpike in Burlington Township, assaulting the woman, and fleeing through the front door.

AVOCA POLICE: Officers responded to more than 25 calls between Dec. 12-16.

On Dec. 12, officers responded to investigate an activated alarm on Cherry Street. Officers also issues several traffic citations on Main Street.

On Dec. 13, officers were dispatched to a hit-and-run accident on Cherry Street. Officers also responded to a 911 hang-up call on New Street.

On Dec. 14, officers were dispatched to investigate a reported theft in the 400 block of Grove Street. Officers issued numerous traffic citations on Main Street.

On Dec. 15, officers responded to investigate a report of underage drinking in a home on Grove Street.

On Dec. 16, officers were dispatched to investigate a report of an erratic driver on William Street.

OLD FORGE POLICE: Officers responded to more than 30 calls between Dec. 9-15.

On Dec. 9, officers were dispatched a home in the 700 block of Moosic Road to assist emergency medical services. An activated alarm sent officers to the 400 block of Bridge Street. Officers also responded to investigate a criminal mischief complaint in the 200 block of Charles Street.

On Dec. 10, officers conducted a traffic stop on Lonesome Road that resulted in an arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence.

On Dec. 11, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Oak Street to investigate an illegal dumping complaint. A theft complaint sent officers to the 100 block of South Main Street.

On Dec. 12, officers were dispatched to investigate a hit-and-run accident in the 300 block of West Mary Street. A motor vehicle accident sent officers to the intersection of Drakes Lane and South Main Street.

On Dec. 13, officers were dispatched to investigate a reported domestic dispute in the 600 block of South Main Street. Officers assisted a disabled motorist in the 500 block of North Main Street.

A reported phone scam sent officers to a home in the 500 block of Main Street. Officers also responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 400 block of South Main Street.

On Dec. 14, officers were dispatched to investigate an activated alarm in the 600 block of South Main Street.

Reported drug activity sent officers to the 500 block of Main Street. Officers assisted the Taylor police with a call in the 1200 block of Loomis Avenue. A hit-and-run accident sent officers to Bubernak Avenue. Officers responded to a similar call in the 200 block of Vine Street.

Officers also responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 400 block of Oak Street. One arrest was made.

On Dec. 15, officers were dispatched to investigate a report of animal cruelty in the 1000 block of Wood Street. A trespassing complaint sent officers to a home in the 100 block of Ciuccio Drive.

TAYLOR POLICE: Officers responded to 80 calls between Dec. 11-16.

On Dec. 11, officers were dispatched to investigate a property theft complaint in the 400 block of West Taylor Street. Two retail thefts sent officers to Walmart on Main Street.

On Dec. 12, officers were dispatched to investigate motor vehicle accidents on Main Street and Keyser Avenue.

On Dec. 13, officers conducted a traffic stop on North Main Street. The driver was cited for driving under the influence.

On Dec. 14, officers responded to domestic disputes in homes on Oak Street and Loomis Avenue. Officers also responded to a civil dispute in the 1400 block of South Main Street.

On Dec. 15, officers were dispatched to investigate a criminal mischief complaint at the Taylor Community Library. A domestic dispute sent officers to a home on Williams Street.

Hearing waived

MOUNT CARMEL - Nicholas J. Karlaza, 21, of 21 Back Street, Mount Carmel, waived charges of driving under the influence of a drug or a combination of drugs, careless driving and driving on roadways laned for traffic during a Nov. 28 preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Karlaza was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police patrolman David Stamets Jr. following a Sept. 19 accident on the Mid-Valley Mountain.

He was ordered to appear in Northumberland County Court on Jan. 14, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or plead not guilty and seek a trial.

Harassment

VALLEY TOWNSHIP - Shirley Jean Corson, 39, of Sinking Spring, was cited for harassment by state police at Milton after she allegedly kept contacting a 26-year-old female from Danville by phone at her residence along Jerseytown Road, Valley Township, and at her workplace in Ralpho Township. Corson is also accused of e-mailing lewd messages about the victim's relationship with her employer.

The citation was field with Magisterial District Judge Marvin K. Shrawder, Danville.

Sobriety checkpoint

STONINGTON - State troopers from the Stonington barracks will conduct a sobriety checkpoint along a state or local highway in Northumberland County in January.

The sobriety checkpoint is part of a Commonwealth-wide DUI checkpoint strike force initiative. The checkpoint involves briefly checking vehicles for operators who are impaired by alcohol and/or controlled substances.
