Woman injured

BLYTHE TOWNSHIP - Nancy L. Harris, 66, of Ashland, suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday on Route 61 in this Schuylkill County township.

State police at Frackville reported Harris was driving a 2009 Ford Focus north in the driving lane of Route 61 at 5 p.m. when she made an abrupt lane change to avoid striking the rear of a 2004 Mack Vision operated by Derrick J. Harris, 42, of Allentown, who was traveling at a slower speed with its four-way flashers.

While Nancy Harris was attempting to pass the heavy commercial vehicle, she overcompensated, causing the passenger side of her car to strike the driver's side of the Mack Vision.

Police said the car then overturned and landed on its wheels across both lanes of the highway. The Mack Vision was able to pull off the road onto the east shoulder.

Nancy Harris was transported by St. Clair Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Derrick Harris escaped injury. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, police said.

MOUNT CARMEL - David M. Brown, 30, of 29 S. Chestnut St., faces drug related charges following a stop at the Silver Bowl stadium at 7:22 p.m. Friday.

As police checked on the warrant, Donkochik observed Brown place a hypodermic needle into his right boot as he was pretending to tie his boot laces. Brown was taken into custody and searched. Police allegedly found several bags of heroin in his boot, four full bags and three bags containing residue, a broken metal spoon and a large piece of cotton.

Politza charged Brown with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned Monday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled for today.

He told police that he was standing behind the entry door of the residence when Oshman kicked it in, causing the corner of the door to strike his head, and then shoved him around the living area of the residence.

Police noted in court documents that they had just cleared the scene minutes earlier as the two were involved in a verbal dispute over money.

Oshman was arraigned Monday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing before Jones is scheduled for today.
