Two injured in motorcycle crash in Wysox Twp.

Two residents of Stamford, Conn., were injured over the weekend when their motorcycle struck another vehicle on U.S. Route 6 in Wysox Township, police said.

The accident occurred at 9:12 a.m. Saturday, when Michael D. Samsen of Stamford was driving a motorcycle west on Route 6, directly behind a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was operated by Matthew L. Fenton of Sugar Run, police said.

Samsen believed that the Jeep was going to travel into the center turning lane to make a left-hand turn, police said. In fact, Fenton was trying to make a right-hand turn, and Samsen tried to pass the Jeep on its right side, police said.

The left front fender area of the motorcycle swiped the right front fender area of the Jeep, police said. Samsen was unable to control the motorcycle after the impact and it fell onto its left side, police said.

Samsen, 65, and his passenger, 57-year-old Donna Vella of Stamford, Conn., suffered moderate injuries, police said. Both Samsen and Vella were wearing helmets, police said.

Fenton, 34, and his three passengers were all uninjured, police said.

Samsen was cited for violating a section of the Pennsylvania motor vehicle code that is titled "Overtaking vehicle on the right," police said.

No charges or citations were filed against Fenton, police said.
