Vehicle overturns in Standing Stone Twp.

Cody D. Coberly, 18, of Wyalusing suffered a minor injury in a motor vehicle accident in Standing Stone Township, police said.

Coberly was driving north on Rummerfield Creek Road when, for an unknown reason, he lost control of his 2000 Toyota Tundra on a left-hand curve, police said.

The vehicle left the east side of the road, struck a guardrail, proceeded northeast, traveled off an embankment and overturned, police said.

The accident occurred at 6:40 a.m. on Oct. 30, state police said.

Coberly, who was wearing a seat belt, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed, state police at Towanda said.

Scattering rubbish occurs in Towanda

A 72-year-man reported recently that someone had discarded bundles of used roofing shingles on his property on Castle Hill Road in Towanda, police said.

The incident occurred at approximately 2 p.m. on Nov. 1, state police said.

Towanda teen uninjured in accident

Kira M. Thomas, 18, of Towanda was uninjured when she was involved in a recent motor vehicle accident in Wysox Township, police said.

The accident occurred at 9:25 p.m. on Nov. 6 when Thomas was driving a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire south on state Route 1035, police said.

For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway and traveled into the western berm, police said. Thomas lost control of the vehicle, which struck a ditch, police said.

The vehicle had to be towed from the scene, state police at Towanda said.

Computer stolen from Towanda restaurant

State police said they are investigating the theft of a laptop computer at the Burger King restaurant, 385 York Ave., Towanda.

The computer, which belongs to Burger King, was stolen on Nov. 6, state police at Towanda said.

Burglary occurs in Monroe Boro

A burglary recently occurred at a vacant home at 453 James Monroe Avenue in Monroe Borough, police said.

The residence is owned by Sally Lee Kinsman of Towanda, police said.

The burglar or burglar entered the residence through an unlocked window sometime between 5 p.m. on Nov. 4 and 7 p.m. on Nov. 6, police said.

The burglar or burglars stole two flat-screen TVs and exited the residence through a rear door, state police said.

Burglary occurs at Monroeton business

State police said they are trying to find out who burglarized Applebee's Roadside Market at the intersection of U.S. Route 220 and state Route 414 in Monroeton, police said.

Someone entered the rear of the pet shop using a crowbar to pry a door open, police said.

The burglar then took fish tank accessories, fish food, and fish from the business, police said.

The burglary occurred sometime between 6 p.m. Friday and noon on Saturday, police said.

DUI charges

The following person was recently charged with driving while under the influence in Sullivan County:

Anthony Paul Christensen, 52, of Dushore, by the state police, on Sunday, on state Route 487 in Cherry Township. Christensen's blood alcohol content was over the legal limit.

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Gregory Scott Brown, 28, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough police, on Oct. 24, at North Lehigh Avenue and Allison Street in Sayre. Brown has also been charged with failure to keep right. A blood test revealed the presence of Clonazepam in Brown's blood and a blood alcohol content of .06 percent on the day of Brown's arrest. Brown has been sent a summons to appear Dec. 3 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Jeffrey D. Welch, 29, of Waverly, by Sayre Borough police, on Nov. 3, on Spring Street in Sayre. Welch has also been charged with failure to stop at a stop sign and operating a motor vehicle with a malfunctioning light. A blood alcohol test revealed that Welch's blood alcohol content was .17 percent on the day of his arrest. Welch has been sent a summons to appear Dec. 10 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

David Joseph Conklin, 23, of Milan, by Athens Township police, on Oct. 22, at the Route 220 bypass in Athens Township. Conklin has also been charged with failure to keep right, careless driving, failure to drive within a single lane, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, obstructing administration of law enforcement and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. A blood alcohol test revealed that Conklin's blood alcohol content was .22 percent on the day of his arrest. Conklin has been sent a summons to appear Dec. 10 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Sayre man charged

A Sayre man was recently arraigned in district court on drug charges related to a May 2011 incident.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Sayre Borough police charged Steven Charles Mayo II, 28, with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said Mayo was charged following investigation into an incident that occurred May 17, 2011 at a Chemung Street residence. A search of the residence turned up a small amount of marijuana inside a metal storage container, police said.

Mayo was arraigned Nov. 12 and released from the Bradford County Jail on non-monetary bail. Mayo's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 19.

Man charged with assault

A Sayre man was recently arrested by borough police on a charge of simple assault.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Matthew Todd Williams, 33, was also charged with simple assault by menace, harassment and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said Williams engaged in a physical altercation with a female Nov. 11 at a North Lehigh Avenue residence, causing injury to her mouth, head, neck and right arm. A search of Williams turned up two pipes used to ingest controlled substances, police said.

Williams was arraigned Nov. 12 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. Williams' preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 19.

Driver cited in MVA

State police at Towanda recently investigated a one-car motor vehicle accident in Litchfield Township.

According to information from state police, on Nov. 1, an eastbound 1993 Ford Ranger operated by Edith M. Cassellbury, 46, of Sayre, lost control while negotiating a left curve on Cotton Hollow Road.

Police said the Ranger traveled onto the berm, struck a tree with its front passenger tire and rolled onto its passenger side at a location west of the road's intersection with Grimley Road.

Police said Cassellbury had minor injuries but was not transported to a local hospital. Police cited Cassellbury with failure to stay in lane.

State police were assisted at the scene by Furman and Jones Towing and the Litchfield Township Volunteer Fire Company.

Police investigate sword theft

State police at Towanda are investigating a theft from an Ulster Township property.

According to state police information, an unknown suspect removed a cutlass sword from a Milan Road property sometime between Aug. 1 and Nov. 3. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.

Man charged with assault

An Athens man was recently charged with simple assault and harassment by state police at Towanda.

According to information from state police, Joseph Dees, 24, was involved in an altercation with a male victim Nov. 6 at a residence on Sheshequin Road in Sheshequin Township.

While arguing, Dees struck the victim on the side of his face with a closed fist, police said. The victim then fell to the ground and was taken to Towanda Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said.

Man charged with sexual assault

Lynn Morris Bastion, 54, of 317 E. Main St., Canton, faces a preliminary hearing at 2:15 p.m. today before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on charges of sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault without consent, and indecent assault without consent of other for an incident that took place Oct. 22 at his residence, according to court papers.

According to an affidavit, Canton Police Officer Joshua Heckman received a call around 3:55 p.m. Oct. 22 from a 21-year-old man, who said he had been sexually assaulted earlier in the afternoon by a man named Lynn Bastion at Bastion's residence in the borough.

Wilcox said Bastion's unsecure bail was set at $35,000.

 

Residents face hearing on drug charges

Two Troy residents face preliminary hearings today before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on charges of "possession of a small amount of marijuana only for personal use," according to court papers.

They are Ryan James Shaw, 26, and Angela Kendal Gray, 18, both of 369 Elmira St., Apt. 5, Troy. The charges were filed following an incident that took place at 8:01 p.m. Nov. 5 at their residence, where police were called for a domestic disturbance, according to an affidavit. Following the discovery of a substance in a tissue that was identified as marijuana, Troy Police Officer Michael Northup told them he would be filing charges on both of them for possession of a small amount of marijuana. Wilcox said their unsecure bail was set at $1,500 for each person. Gray's hearing is at 2:45 p.m. and Shaw's hearing is at 2:30 p.m.

 

Woman faces hearing

Taylor Jean-Lynn Machmer, 19, of 2896 Lower Mountain Rd., Canton, faces a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 20 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on a charge of possession drug paraphernalia, according to court papers.

The papers note that she is charged with a violation of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act and used, or possessed with the intent to use, drug paraphernalia, namely three syringes and a multi-colored glass bowl.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Mark Sadowski said he was dispatched to her residence for a report of a disturbance, when the items were discovered.

Vandalism reported in Monroe Boro

A 20-year-old male reported that someone damaged three windows in his vehicle when it was parked in Monroe Borough, according to police.

The vandalism occurred sometime between 1:10 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on Sunday in the 700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, state police said. State police said they don't know what kind of object was used to damage the windows.

Vandalism occurs in Towanda Twp.

Somebody vandalized a vehicle recently when it was parked at 941 S. Main St. in Towanda Township, police said.

The vehicle belongs to 21-year-old Dorthy Hatch of Towanda, police said.

The vandalism occurred sometime between 5:45 p.m. Friday and 8:15 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Theft occurs in Wysox Township

State police said they are trying to determine who stole a 55-year-old man's tree stand in Wysox Township.

The tree stand was located in the woods behind State Aggregates, off Leisure Drive, police said.

The theft occurred sometime between Friday and Wednesday, state police said.

"Name not required, just your information. Anonymous tips may pay up to $2,000," the state police wrote in a press release about the theft.

Charges filed in 2011 burglary

Chad Allen Fassett, 30, of Wyalusing has been charged by state police with burglary, two counts of criminal trespass and theft by unlawful taking or disposition relating to a Dec. 29, 2011 incident on CC Allis Road in Herric Township.

According to police, Fassett stole $40 in change from a privately owned residence.

Police said Fassett confessed to the burglary the same day the crime was committed.

Fassett has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on Dec. 3 at 3:30 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.

Farmer allows manure to flow into creek

Lynn R. Hottle, 37, of Ulster has been charged by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission with contamination of water relating to a Sept. 13, 2012 incident in Rome Township.

According to police, Hottle allowed manure to flow into Parks Creek from his farm in Rome Township.

Hottle has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on Dec. 10 at 1:30 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.

Coin jug stolen

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Glenn Oberlin, 58, of Sunbury, reported to police someone entered his residence at 625 Island Blvd. and removed a plastic water job containing various U.S. coins sometime between 5 and 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Key found

COAL TOWNSHIP - A Ford vehicle key was found at about 4 p.m. Wednesday on Sterling Street and turned into the Coal Township Police Department.

The owner of the key can claim it by contacting police at 644-0333.

Curfew violation

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Jarrod Scandle cited a 15-year-old Shamokin area boy for a curfew violation after he was found in the 100 block of West Lincoln Street shortly after 1 a.m. Oct. 12.

False identification

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Darwin Tobias III has charged Khaalid Abudul Muhammad, 20, of 235 W. Willow St., Shamokin, with false identification to law enforcement authorities, disorderly conduct and underage drinking involving an incident at 2:10 a.m. Nov. 1 in the first block of East Independence Street.

Police said Muhammad provided a false date of birth to police and was consuming alcohol inside Tiffany's Lounge. He also is accused of shoving a girl into garbage cans and a parking meter and attempting to grab her keys, causing injury to her fingers.

Breaks window

SHAMOKIN - David Kashner, 41, of 1125 W. Montgomery St., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct for allegedly throwing a brick through a window at the residence of Alicia Coates, 454 S. Pearl St., Oct. 19.

Theft charges

SHAMOKIN - Kyle Yeager, 22, of 421 E. Dewart St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman William Zalinski with theft and receiving stolen property.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Yeager is accused of stealing $360 in cash from Turkey Hill Minit Market at 501 N. Second St. on Oct. 24 and Oct. 25 while he was employed at the business.

Camera card stolen

SHAMOKIN - James Alan Hile, 48, of 847 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with stealing a Fuji camera card valued at $50 belonging to Mark Gemberling.

Police said Hile stole the card from a photo-processing machine at CVS Pharmacy in downtown Shamokin on Oct. 23.

Steals cigarettes

SHAMOKIN - Joseph E. Carner, 29, of 125 Academy St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for retail theft for allegedly stealing a pack of cigarettes valued at $6.34 from Turkey Hill Minit Market, 501 N. Second St., at 12:49 a.m. Oct. 23.

Police Briefs

Man charged with sexual assault

Lynn Morris Bastion, 54, of 317 E. Main St., Canton, faces a preliminary hearing at 1:45 p.m. Dec. 4 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on charges of sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault without consent, and indecent assault without consent of other for an incident that took place Oct. 22 at his residence, according to court papers.

According to an affidavit, Canton Police Officer Joshua Heckman received a call around 3:55 p.m. Oct. 22 from a 21-year-old man, who said he had been sexually assaulted earlier in the afternoon by a man named Lynn Bastion at Bastion's residence in the borough.

Wilcox said Bastion's unsecure bail was set at $35,000.

Residents plead guilty on drug charges

Two Troy residents pleaded guilty and were fined $100 each before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on charges of "possession of a small amount of marijuana only for personal use," said a spokesperson for Wilcox's office.

According to court papers, they are Ryan James Shaw, 26, and Angela Kendal Gray, 18, both of 369 Elmira St., Apt. 5, Troy. The charges were filed following an incident that took place at 8:01 p.m. Nov. 5 at their residence, where police were called for a domestic disturbance, according to an affidavit. Following the discovery of a substance in a tissue that was identified as marijuana, Troy Police Officer Michael Northup told them he would be filing charges on both of them for possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Woman faces hearing

Taylor Jean-Lynn Machmer, 19, of 2896 Lower Mountain Rd., Canton, faces a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 20 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on a charge of possession drug paraphernalia, according to court papers.

The papers note that she is charged with a violation of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act and used, or possessed with the intent to use, drug paraphernalia, namely three syringes and a multi-colored glass bowl.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Mark Sadowski said he was dispatched to her residence for a report of a disturbance, when the items were discovered.

Burglary

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are investigating a break-in at seven storage units at "10 Acre Storage" just off Route 890.

Police said locks were cut from the storage units and three sets of 50 uncirculated U.S. quarters, two sets of U.S. proof coins from 1968 to 2000, a gold snake ring, a gold Masonic ring with a blue stone, a gold Masonic ring with a red stone, miscellaneous stamps and knives were removed.

The burglary was committed between Nov. 6 and Thursday.

Police said the victims of the burglary are Jennifer Eileen Smerlick, 44, of Sunbury; Harvey Lynn Henninger, 40, of Shamokin; Richard Penrose Bingaman, 64, of Dornsife; Brian Ray Updegrove, 39, of Northumberland, and Diann Louise Turner, 62, of Sunbury.

Hit and run

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Brian C. Herb, 41, of 25 S. Gold St., Shamokin, has been charged by Trooper Daniel Wilk of state police at Stonington with hit and run, driving under suspension, following a vehicle too closely, careless driving and failure to give information and render aid in connection with an Oct. 29 accident on Route 61 near Tulip Road.

LCB violations

WILLIAMSPORT - Two area licensed establishments were cited Nov. 7 by the Williamsport district office of the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement.

Locust Gap Fire Company, 266 Marshall St., was cited for failing to have a board-approved manager complete RAMP training within 180 days of the board's approval of the appointment. The violation occurred between Sept. 22 and Sept. 30.

Thomas-Brill Veterans Home Association, 2 Shikellamy Ave., Sunbury, was cited for failing to operate bingo in conformity with Title 10 of the bingo law and failing to operate small games of chance in conformity with the Small Games of Chance Act and Title 61 of the Pennsylvania code. The violation occurred Sept. 4.

The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses.

The district office in Williamsport is in charge of enforcing liquor laws and related provisions at more than 863 establishments in Bradford, Clinton, Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Potter, Snyder, Sullivan, Tioga and Union counties.

In October, 65 complaints were received by the office and 12 licensed establishments were inspected for age compliance. Five establishments were cited for selling alcohol to minors.

Sixteen violation letters and 19 warning letters were issued for violations of liquor laws and 18 citations were issued for underage drinking.

There were a total of six other significant violations including furnishing alcohol to minors, sales without a license and seizures.

CHESTERFIELD/COLONIAL HEIGHTS - The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program needs your help to identify and find the people responsible for shooting and killing a man three years ago.

On Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at about 11:40 p.m., officers were called for shots being fired in the area in the 3900 block of Bridget Court. While checking the area, officers found James Patrick Mosley in the parking lot of his townhouse. Mosley had been shot several times. Officers and rescue personnel attempted to resuscitate Mosley, but were unsuccessful. Witnesses described seeing a black male wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt in the area at the time of the shooting. A dark-colored vehicle was also seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed shortly after the shooting.

Tires stolen

State police at Towanda are investigating a theft incident at a Rome Township location.

According to state police information, an unknown actor or actors removed four snow tires and their rimes from a property in the 1700 block of Main Street sometime between Sept. 1 and Oct. 30. The items were not secured and it appears no damage was done to the property, police said.

Athens man arrested

An Athens man was recently arrested by Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies on a charge of unlawful possession of marijuana.

According to information from the sheriff's office, Tyler A. Belles, 22, was also charged with operating a vehicle with an inadequate license plate lamp and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

Police said Belles was charged following a vehicle stop on Route 17C in Barton near Shepard Road. Police said Belles was found to possess a glass pipe containing burnt marijuana.

Belles was issued tickets to appear Nov. 12 in Barton town court.

Retail theft charge

An Ulster woman was recently charged with retail theft by Athens Township police.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Railyn Decker, 18, was charged with two counts each of retail theft and criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft following two incidents at the Walmart store on Elmira Street.

Police said Decker and 17-year-old juvenile female were seen on surveillance cameras removing merchandise from the store twice - once in June and again in September. The two stole $385.56 worth of merchandise Sept. 15, police said.

Decker's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 10.

Monroeton woman charged

A Monroeton woman was recently charged with retail theft by Athens Township police.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Katie Marie Brown, 19, attempted to remove $204.22 in merchandise from the Walmart store on Elmira Street at about 8 p.m. Nov. 12.

Brown's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 10.

Waverly police make arrests

Waverly police recently arrested the following, according to information from the Waverly Police Department:

Catherine Tefertiller, 53, of Athens, for criminal trespass and endangering the welfare of a child. Police said Tefertiller is accused of entering a residence with a baseball bat during a disturbance.

Brock Stillman, 30, of Waverly, for harassment and endangering the welfare of a child, following a domestic disturbance.

Kevin C. Shipman, 24, of Waverly, for criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespass.

Shannon L. Kellham, 36, of Athens, on a warrant for criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic needle.

Jessica Coolbaugh, 25, of Athens, for criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic needle and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Police said Coolbaugh was found to be in possession of heroin during a traffic stop.

Police investigate Dushore MVA

State police at Laporte recently investigated a two-car motor vehicle accident on Route 220 in Dushore Borough.

According to information from state police, at about 4:25 p.m. Nov. 15, a 2007 Chrysler Malibu operated by 70-year-old Marilyn D. Porter of Trumansburg, N.Y. failed to stop for a red traffic signal at the intersection of Route 220 and German Street.

Porter's vehicle was struck in the front end from the eastbound lane of German Street by a 2003 Ford F-250, according to police. Both vehicles had heavy front-end and were inoperable following the impact, police said.

Neither Porter nor the operator of the Ford, 73-year-old William Charnitski of Dushore, were injured, police said. Both drivers wore seatbelts.

Police cited Porter with failure to stop at a traffic signal.

BCCF inmate charged

An inmate at the Bradford County Correctional Facility was recently charged with possessing weapons or implements for escape by state police.

According to information from state police at Towanda, Zachary John Lawson, 28, of Troy, was found to be utilizing two plastic hair combs to tamper with the locking device to his cell door Oct. 17.

Two injured in Windham Twp. accident

State police at Towanda recently investigated a two-car motor vehicle accident in Warren Township.

According to state police, at about 7 a.m. Oct. 29, a 2001 Chevrolet S10 operated by Dolores G. Wheaton, 78, of Rome, was traveling north on LeRaysville Road when it struck the rear end of a tractor in front of it.

Both Wheaton and the operator of the tractor, 75-year-old Fredrick Strobl of Warren Center, were transported by Greater Valley EMS to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, police said.

Police cited Wheaton for following too closely.

Police investigate Route 6 accident

State police recently investigated a one-car motor vehicle accident in Burlington Township.

According to information from state police, at about 11:05 a.m. Nov. 15, John R. Passeri, 49, of Troy fell asleep while operating a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee west on Route 6. Police said the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road west of its intersection with Knapp Hill Road, striking a guard rail end, then overturning and striking a tree.

Police said the Jeep had disabling damage to its roof, front end and right side. No airbags deployed, police said. Both Passeri and a passenger, Phillip M. Short, 60, of Troy, wore their seatbelts, according to police. Passeri was uninjured, while Short had minor injuries, police said.

Police cited Passeri for failure to stay in lane.

Memorial Hospital EMS and the North Towanda Fire Department assisted at the scene, police said.

Sayre bar cited for liquor law violations

A Sayre establishment was recently cited by the state Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement with several liquor law violations.

According to information from the Williamsport district office, the Lehigh Tavern, located at 109 N. Lehigh Ave., was cited Nov. 14 for failure to display evidence that the premises meets all sanitary requirements for a public eating place, failure to keep records on the premises, failure to maintain complete records covering the operation of the business for a two-year period, offering liquor or malt or brewed beverages as a prize and furnishing alcoholic beverages to visibly intoxicated persons.

The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose monetary fines, training or license suspension or revocation.

DUI

SUNBURY - Traci Ann Crone, 50, of Danville, faces a charge of driving under the influence stemming from a Nov. 8 traffic stop on Mile Post Road in Upper Augusta Township, state police at Stonington reported Sunday.

Crone was driving a 2010 Hyundai Elantra about 6:45 p.m. when a traffic stop was initiated by police.

Crash on I-80

MILTON - A 35-year-old Easton man escaped injury after the tractor-trailer he was driving Saturday on Interstate 80 drove off an embankment and overturned, state police at Milton reported Sunday.

Gregg Scott Hager fell asleep at the wheel, police said. The 1996 Kenworth T60 went off the south side of the roadway at mile marker 202.1, traveled down an embankment and flipped. About 363 feet of guide rail was damaged in the process. The vehicle was towed.

Jeep hits deer

WARRIOR RUN - A 30-year-old Trout Run man escaped injury Thursday after crashing into a deer on Interstate 180 in Delaware Township, state police at Milton reported Sunday.

Gregory E. Gies was driving a 2011 Jeep Wrangler west about 1/2 mile south of Eighth Street Drive when a deer crossed into his lane of travel. The Jeep collided with the animal with its left front.

Mailbox stolen

MILTON - John David Slother reported to state police at Milton that someone stole his mailbox between July 13 and Wednesday that was placed at his property on Clemens Road in Delaware Township, north of Milton. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-524-2662.

Theft

DANVILLE - Purses and money were stolen Saturday from three vehicles parked at a sports facility near the Interstate 80 on/off ramps in Valley Township, Montour County.

State police at Milton said the thieves entered four vehicles between 2:40 p.m. and 4:20 p.m., breaking windows on two to gain access. The other two were unlocked. The vehicles were parked at McCracken and Indian Run roads.

One of the victims' credit cards was used at a known location, police said. An investigation continues.

Police identified the victims as Kenneth and Heather Williams, of Danville, Amanda S. Jacobs, of Northumberland, and Aimee J. Diehl, of Millville.
