DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Nicholas Robert Quinn, 24, of Owego, N.Y., by Sayre Borough police, on April 25, on North Lehigh Avenue in Sayre. Quinn has also been charged with having an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle without a license. Quinn agreed to participate in a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content. Quinn was arraigned April 25 and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. Quinn is scheduled to appear May 6 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Josiah David Lesser, 22, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough police, on April 5, on North Elmer Avenue in Sayre. Lesser has also been charged with careless driving and driving with a suspended license. A blood test revealed that Lesser's blood alcohol content was .16 percent on the day of his arrest. Lesser has been sent a summons to appear May 27 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Woman charged with reckless endangerment

An Athens woman was recently arrested by Athens Township police on a charge of recklessly endangering another person.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Ashley Rae Joiner, 26, was also charged with disorderly conduct.

Police said Joiner fired two rounds from a Smith and Wesson Governor revolver in the direction of surrounding houses during an April 23 incident at her Gateway Industrial Park Road residence.

Joiner was arraigned April 23 by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and released from the Bradford County Jail in lieu of non-monetary bail. Joiner's preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 29.

Tioga Co. sheriff's office cautions public about phone scam

The Tioga County, N.Y. Sheriff's Office recently learned of a telephone scam in which the caller identifies himself as a law enforcement official and attempts to obtain money from the answerer, according to a release from the sheriff's office.

In the scam, the caller claims to be a member of the Las Vegas Police Department and states that he just arrested a family member, police said. The caller will then request money to release the individual. The sheriff's office cautions anyone who receives such a call to not send any money, as this may be a scam, police said.

If called, police said a person should get detailed information as to how they want the money transferred and a contact phone number to advise when they have received the money. Anyone who receives a call is then instructed to call the Tioga County Sheriff's Office at (607) 687-1010 or his or her local law enforcement agency to determine the validity of the call, police said.

Athens man charged with aggravated assault

An Athens man was recently incarcerated by Athens Township police on a charge of aggravated assault.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Mark David Brundage, 29, was also charged with two counts each of recklessly endangering another person, harassment by physical contact and criminal mischief and one count each of attempted simple assault by menace, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Police said Brundage threatened a female victim with a knife and attempted to stab her following an altercation April 27 at his Horseshoe Lane residence. Police said Brundage also damaged the victim's vehicle and items inside the residence.

Brundage was arraigned April 27 and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. Brundage's preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 6.

One hurt in crash

DORNSIFE - Roger D. Bass Jr., 28, of Dornsife, was listed in serious condition Monday afternoon after a car accident at 10:40 p.m. Friday in Jackson Township.

State police at Stonington said Bass was traveling south and negotiating a left hand curve on Route 225 in a 2001 Ford Focus when the vehicle traveled off the west edge of the road and struck a road sign, a wooden fence post and two trees. The Focus slid 20 feet down an embankment, where it stopped.

MC driver fair

MOUNT CARMEL - The driver injured in a Sunday afternoon crash on Sixth Street is listed in fair condition, according to a Geisinger Medical Center spokesperson.

Paul Radzai, 57, of 317 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, was injured when the Mitsubishi Galant he was driving was struck in the passenger side by a tractor-trailer driven by David Davis, 25, of Baltimore, Md., who said the truck's brakes failed while he was descending the Merriam Mountain. Davis and a female passenger were not injured in the crash.

Borough Police Chief Todd Owens said Monday the accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed.

Disorderly conduct

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police Patrolman Chris Williams cited Frank M. Bogus, 53, of 1011 W. Spruce St., and Michael J. Bogus, 47, of 1003 W. Spruce St., Coal Township, for disorderly conduct after they allegedly threatened Kermit Britton at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Cliff Street.

Minor injury

MONROE TOWNSHIP - A Port Trevorton man suffered a minor injury in a two-vehicle crash at 12:05 p.m. Thursday on Lori Lane.

State police at Selinsgrove report a 2008 Lincoln MKX, driven by Marilyn Kauffman, 78, of Dornsife, and a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Michael A. Graybill, 47, of Port Trevorton, were stopped at a red light on Lori Lane. When the light turned green and traffic started moving, the MKX struck the rear of a utility trailer the Cavalier was towing.

Police cited Kauffman for following too closely.

Outdoor burning

COAL TOWNSHIP - Robert Forry, 22, of 421 N. Shamokin St., Apartment 2-6, Shamokin, will be cited by township police for outdoor burning after he started and maintained a fire on Stoney Point Sunday evening.

Police remind residents burning is not allowed in Coal Township.

Theft of services

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington report charges are not being filed at this time against three known 16-year-old juveniles who ordered and ate meals at The Den restaurant April 16 and left without paying.

Scattering rubbish

COAL TOWNSHIP - Luis C. Harrington, 30, of 1008 W. Lynn St., was charged with scattering rubbish by Coal Township Police Patrolman Chris Williams after an incident at 11:53 a.m. Sunday in the Third Patch section of Bear Valley Road.

According to police, Harrington placed pieces of wood and tree branches along the roadway.

Door struck

JACKSON TOWNSHIP - Colton J. Trego, 24, of Herndon, reported the driver's door of his 2004 Ford F-350 truck was damaged when it was struck at 10:46 p.m. on Route 225.

State police at Stonington said Trego was stopped in the southbound lane of Route 225 with his driver's door open while checking on an accident that had just occurred. Police said Trego was 20 feet away and down a 10-foot bank when his door was struck by another vehicle, which he could not identify.

Assault

KULPMONT - State police at Stonington continue to investigate an assault that occurred at 11:30 p.m. Saturday at 935 Scott St.

Police said a known male, 23, allegedly entered the home of Steven Poe, 27, and assaulted him and Amber Wondoloski, 27, of 1007 Chestnut St., before fleeing the scene.

Criminal mischief

SHAMOKIN - Eric D. Smith, 42, of 209 S. Franklin St., was cited for criminal mischief by City Police Patrolman First Class Scott Weaver after he allegedly wrote "no parking" and painted lines on a city street with spray paint on the 200 block of North Franklin Street at 7:05 p.m. April 20.

Harassment

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Two individuals, a 16-year-old male and a 43-year-old male, both from Sunbury, were cited for harassment after the two were involved in a physical altercation at 6:20 p.m. Monday on Miller Road.

Fight investigation

HERNDON - State police at Stonington said charges are pending after an altercation at a South Main Street residence.

Police said a known 31-year-old male from Herndon and a 34-year-old female from Herndon were involved in an altercation at 10:30 a.m. Monday, when the male allegedly struck the female in the head twice with a closed fist.

Identity theft

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Russell L. Chamberlain, 49, of Paxinos, informed state police at Stonington he was told April 14 his social security number had been compromised by the IRS after filing his federal tax income return. Police report the investigation continues.

Simple assault

TREVORTON - Stephan L. Snyder Jr., 44, of 739 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, was charged by Trooper James Yankovich of state police at Stonington with simple assault and harassment involving a disturbance Tuesday morning at his residence.

Police reported Snyder is accused of striking his wife, Michelle Marie Snyder, at 5:30 a.m., causing a substantial cut on the bridge of her nose that required two stitches. Police said the victim also suffered swollen eyes as a result of the assault.

Endangers tot

COAL TOWNSHIP - Brittany Brown, 23, of 24 S. Sherman St., Coal Township, has been charged by Patrolman Matthew Henrich with endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly overdosing on heroin.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Brown is accused of leaving her boyfriend's 3-year-old son at 24 S. Sherman St. between 6 and 8 a.m. April 2 while she went to a house in the 300 block of North Shamokin Street to meet a friend to buy drugs.

Police said Brown reportedly overdosed on heroin at her friend's residence and later admitted to EMS personnel that she left the child alone.

Sugar Run man charged with assault

Joseph James Buttito, 52, of Sugar Run has been charged by state police with simple assault and harassment relating to an April 14 incident.

Buttito is accused of being involved in a physical altercation with two juveniles and causing injuries.

He has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at 1 p.m. on May 27 for a preliminary hearing.

Woman steals money from ATM customer

Johnnie Sue Coats, 31, of Wyalusing has been charged by state police with access device fraud relating to a March 29 incident at PS Bank in Wyalusing.

According to police, Coats withdrew $300 from a victim's account after she arrived at the bank's ATM machine and noticed a transaction from a previous customer had not been cancelled. The victim said Coats was able to do this because his pin number was "obvious."

Coats attempted to withdraw more money from the account, but was unable due to an ATM limit of $500 per day, police said.

PS Bank employees used security camera footage to identify Coats as the perpetrator, police said.

Coats has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at 1 p.m. on May 20 for a preliminary hearing.

Underage drinking reported

State police at Towanda said several people will be charged for underage consumption of alcohol at a party at 8:30 p.m. April 26 on Wheelerville Road in Canton Township.

Police said those who will be charged include a 19-year-old Canton male, a 16-year-old Leroy male, three 18-year-old Canton males, an 18-year-old Gillett female, a 20-year-old Columbia Cross Roads male, a 17-year-old Canton female, and a 19-year-old Towanda male.

Man charged with indecent exposure

State police at Towanda said Jeffrey Jackson, 27, of Sayre, was charged with felony corruption of minors, indecent exposure, open lewdness, and institutional vandalism following an indecent exposure incident that took place between 11 a.m. and noon April 25 at the Bradford County Correctional Facility in West Burlington Township.

Police said he remains at the jail in lieu of $75,000 bail. In addition, charges of corruption of minors were filed against Carly Walker Bert, 22, of Sayre, for allowing her 2-year-old daughter to be present during the incident.

Corruption of minors

SHAMOKIN - Joseph Miscavage, 20, of 128 Tharp St., Coal Township, was charged with corruption of minors and conspiracy to commit theft April 25.

Shamokin City Police Patrolman Raymond Siko II said a juvenile told the officer Miscavage and another juvenile encouraged and threatened to harm him if he didn't try to steal tip jars from several businesses in the city.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Matthew Hashuga has charged Carrie E. Feudale, 23, of 1133 W. Wood St., Coal Township, with retail theft.

Police reported Feudale allegedly stole a home theater system valued at $208 from Walmart Supercenter on Route 61 March 2.

Drug charges

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Scott Weaver charged Taralese R. Mallory, 23, of 401 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, with possession of Ecstasy, possession with intent to deliver Ecstasy, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness relating to a March 16 disturbance in the first block of South Market Street.

Furnishes alcohol

SHAMOKIN - Kevin A. Clark, 22, of 626 W. Pine St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with two counts of selling or furnishing alcohol to minors, a lighting violation and restriction on alcoholic beverages.

Police reported Clark possessed an open alcoholic beverage in his vehicle and allowed James R. Snyder Jr., 18, of 8 W. Sunbury St., Shamokin and a 15-year-old Coal Township female to consume alcohol while he was driving a vehicle at 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Second Street near Turkey Hill Minit Market.

Snyder and the female were both cited for underage drinking by Siko.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN - Two men were charged with misdemeanor offenses following a fight at 3:30 p.m. April 21 in the 300 block of South Rock Street.

Shamokin Police Patrolman Raymond Siko II reported in court documents that Nathan Becker, 25, and Harry Baughman, 54, both of 331 S. Rock St., Shamokin, were involved in a physical altercation. Police said Becker was bleeding from the hand and Baughman was bleeding from the head and experienced swelling of the jaw and redness and abrasions on his abdomen. Each man told police the other attacked first. Police said Baughman kept screaming profanities at Becker while in the presence of police and continued to curse while being treated in the emergency room.

Police charged Becker with misdemeanor counts of simple assault and disorderly conduct and a summary offense of harassment. Baughman was charged with a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct and summary offenses of disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Matthew B. Raynor, 27, of 101 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence, careless driving and driving without a license following a traffic stop after Raynor almost hit a Coal Township Police vehicle at Race and Pearl streets.

Chemical testing of Raynor's blood showed a blood alcohol level was over the legal limit. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Public nuisance

SHAMOKIN - Katy Ann Dunaway, 31, of 1688 Fairview Road, McClure, was charged with a public nuisance violation by Shamokin City Police Cpl. Bryan Primerano for failing to take care and repair a property she owns at 102 S. Pearl St.

Police reported in court documents that Dunaway failed to respond to five summary citations filed against her.

The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Garbage violation

SHAMOKIN - Samantha Bell, 25, of 417 S. Coal St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Bryan Primerano for allowing garbage to be piled up in her front and back yards at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Towanda man charged with corruption of minors

Steven Tyler Potter, 19, of Towanda has been charged by state police with corruption of minors relating to an incident in June 2013 at a private residence in Asylum Township.

According to police, Potter, who was 18-years-old at the time, had sex with a 15-year-old female.

He has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at 1:15 p.m. on May 20 for a preliminary hearing.

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Alex Paul Campbell, 23, of Wyalusing has been charged by Laceyville police with possession of drug paraphernalia relating to an April 12 incident inside his residence on High Street in Wyalusing Borough.

According to police, Campbell possessed two pipes with burnt marijuana residue inside. Campbell has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at 1:30 p.m. on May 20 for a preliminary hearing.

Man charged with stealing over $8,000 from Ardoit Field Services

Frederick Edward Terrell, 42, of Ulster has been charged with 10 counts of theft by unlawful taking or disposition, 10 counts of receiving stolen property and 10 counts of access device fraud relating to multiple incidents between May 25 and July 8.

According to police, Terrell was laid off from Ardoit in April 2013, and beginning in May used three of the company's credit cards to make unauthorized purchases.

Police said Terrell used the cards fraudulently approximately 102 times totaling about $8,359.10 at locations in Bradford County and New York.

Police used surveillance footage from some of the stores to identify Terrell, an affidavit of probable cause states.

Terrell has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at 1:30 p.m. on May 27 for a preliminary hearing.

SHAMOKIN - The following hearings took place Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court June 23 in Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n William L. McCollum, 33, of 146 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, making an abrupt right turn without activating his turn signal, failure to drive in a single lane, failure to obey traffic control devices, careless driving and failure to wear a seat belt.

The charges were filed by Trooper James Yankovich of state police at Stonington in connection with a March 9 incident at Market and Lincoln streets in Shamokin.

n David Charles Carper, 25, of 1800 Hosta Road, Paxinos, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without proper registration, failure to possess a registration card, driving on the wrong side of the road, careless driving, failure to wear a seat belt and failure to drive in a single lane.

The charges filed by Trooper Justin Rosboschil of state police at Stonington relate to a March 8 vehicle stop at the intersection of Routes 61 and 901 in Coal Township.

n Andrew Kevin Derck, 26, of 1317 W. Arch St., Coal Township, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for six months.

A charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was withdrawn.

The charge was filed by Trooper Justin Rosboschil of state police at Stonington in connection with a March 23 five-mile police chase that started at the intersection of Hospital Road and Route 61 at Tharptown and culminated when the truck Derck was a passenger in became disabled near Juniper and Owl streets in the west end of the township.

n Kendall L. Kehler, 34, of 130 E. Dewart St., Apt. 2, Shamokin, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, one count of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, hit and run and careless driving relating to a Dec. 14 accident in the 100 block of East Lincoln Street.

The charges were filed by Shamokin Cpl. Jarrod Scandle.

n Kimberly A. Olearnick, 27, of 240 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, waived charges of criminal trespass, burglary and theft involving a Feb. 20 burglary at the home of Andrea Taylor, 1726 W. Chestnut St.

Police said Olearnick stole $30 in change from the residence.

The charges were filed by Coal Township Patrolman Joshua Wynn.

n Gerald Lee Bojanac, 26, of 405 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to theft and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year. Additional charges of access device fraud, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property were withdrawn.

A co-defendant in the case, Kenneth Elliott Jr., 24, of 1222 W. Willow St., Coal Township, waived to court charges of theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy and access device fraud.

Bojanac and Elliott were charged by Shamokin Patrolman William Zalinski with stealing a debit card from Jennifer Sands and withdrawing hundreds of dollars from an ATM without her knowledge Jan. 12.

Endangers child

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Brandon Lee Thew, 21, of 612 Bear Valley Ave., Shamokin; Jordan M. Scicchitano, 18, of 515 S. Oak St., Coal Township; Jordan Lee Pawelczyk, 21, of 912 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, and Wendi Lynn Baumerts, 18, of 1656 W. Spruce St., Coal Township, were charged by Patrolman David Stamets Jr. with endangering the welfare of a child involving a March 15 incident at the intersection of the Strong Connector and Brennan's Farm Road.

In addition to the endangering offense, Thew was charged with driving under the influence of a combination of drugs, driving under the influence of heroin, recklessly endangering another person, false reports, failure to wear a seat belt and driving under suspension.

Scicchitano also was charged with recklessly endangering another person, possession of drug paraphernalia and allowing Thew to operate a vehicle owned by him or under his control while being under the influence of a drug or combination of drugs.

Pawelczyk and Baumerts also were charged with making false reports.

Police said the offenses were committed with a 2 1/2-year-old child and 16-month-old child in the vehicle.

Aggravated indecent assault

KULPMONT - Charges of aggravated indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors and indecent assault were filed by Trooper Kevin Kearney of state police at Stonington against Jeremy Matthew Henninger, 30, of Wilburton.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Henninger sexually assaulted a 16-year-old female and smoked marijuana with her. Police said the incidents occurred while a 2-year-old and 7-month-old were sleeping in another room at a family member's residence in the 600 block of Chestnut Street in Kulpmont between 2 and 4 a.m. Sunday.

Bad checks

MOUNT CARMEL - Two bad check charges were filed by Patrolman Kevin Katch against Patrick D. Giarrizzo, 57, of 5117 Lower Road, Shamokin.

Police said Giarrizzo is accused of issuing bad checks for $648.69 and $909.82 to Varano's Warehouse March 7 and March 14.

Access device fraud

RUSH TOWNSHIP - Samuel P. Jones, 19, of 30 Reader Road, Danville, was charged by Trooper Todd Leiby of state police at Stonington with access device fraud and unauthorized use of a vehicle involving incidents between April 15 and April 19 at his residence.

Police reported Jones allegedly used an access device owned by his grandmother, Thelma R. Jones, of the same address, to obtain Tracfone minutes valued at $87.15 and also used his grandmother's car without her permission.

Endangers children

MARION HEIGHTS - David J. Swatski Jr., 32, of 126 S. Main St., Herndon, was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension.

Police said Swatski allowed two young children to be unattended at a home in the 500 block of North Street in Marion Heights April 23.

Burglary

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of burglary, criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property were filed by Patrolman Matthew Dillman against Kelsea Bergeron, 18, of 142 W. Second St., Mount Carmel, and Brandon D. Zarko, 20, of 315 W. Fifth St., Mount Carmel.

Police reported Bergeron and Zarko were caught burglarizing a five-story building at Second and Spruce streets while attempting to remove a band hat, trophy, door knob, spoon and pieces of a statue April 23.

Criminal trespass

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Matthew Filarski filed two counts of criminal trespass against John D. Gilbert, 46, of Mount Carmel, who was caught living in a condemned property at 422 N. Maple St. on April 8.

Burglary

THARPTOWN - Coal Township police are investigating a burglary that occurred between April 24 and Wednesday at the former Follmer Florist building at 1100 Tharp St.

Anyone with information about the burglary is urged to call police at 570-644-0333.

Retail theft

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported a known 45-year-old female entered Medicap Pharmacy and allegedly stole an item valued at less than $10 between 4 and 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The suspect then left the scene.

Police did not identify the suspect because no charges have been filed yet.

Theft from camper

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington said someone removed multiple items from a camper owned by David Bubernack, 63, of Shamokin, parked in a lot along Route 61 near Masser's Banquet Hall.

Police said the theft occurred between Nov. 1 and April 23.

Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call state police at 570-286-5601.

Retail theft

MONROE TOWNSHIP - Tiffany E. Clark, 21, of Selinsgrove, and Shaun P. Herman, 27, of Sunbury, were charged by Trooper Todd Mondell of state police at Selinsgrove with retail theft for allegedly removing merchandise valued at $25 from Walmart Department Store along Routes 11-15 at 1 a.m. Thursday.

School bus crash

DELAWARE TOWNSHIP - Three people suffered moderate injuries Tuesday morning at the intersection of Susquehanna Trail and Paradise Road involving a Jeep, a car and a school bus containing eight Warrior Run School District students.

State police at Milton reported Kathryn Marie Meyer, 21, of Turbotville, was driving a 2002 Jeep Liberty south on Susquehanna Trail at 7:16 a.m. when her vehicle struck the rear of a 2003 Honda Civic operated by Jere W. Fulmer, 63, of Watsontown, who was in the process of stopping for a 2014 International school bus operated by Sandra M. Albertson, 63, of Turbotville, who was traveling north on Susquehanna Trail and in the process of stopping to pick up a child at Paradise Road. Police said the bus driver had her yellow lights activated.

After being hit by Meyer's Jeep, Fulmer's car was forced into the opposing lane and struck the front left section of the school bus.

Meyer, Fulmer and her passenger, Wanda Fulmer, 54, of Watsontown, were injured and transported by ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Albertson and the students on the bus escaped injury.

The Jeep and car sustained moderate and extensive damage, respectively, and were towed by Heater's Garage. The school bus sustained minor front-end damage and was towed by Bressler's Garage.

State police were assisted at the scene by Warrior Run fire and ambulance personnel, paramedics from Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg and PennDOT employees.

Inmate charged

COAL TOWNSHIP - Larry Lewis Finland, 22, an inmate at SCI-Coal Township, has been charged by Trooper Samuel Edwards of state police at Stonington with multiple offenses involving two incidents at the prison.

Finland is charged with two counts each of aggravated harassment, harassment and disorderly conduct. He is accused of throwing a cup of urine at Correctional Officer Jared Laubach and nurse Patricia Kulenguskey Dec. 25, 2012, and spitting on Correctional Officer Gregory Carpenter on Feb. 13, 2013.

DUI Charges

The following people have been charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Brad Robert Middaugh, 28, of Towanda, by state police, on April 20, at the intersection of State Route 6 and State Route 1029 in Wysox Township.

He has also been charged with failing to stay in his lane, speeding, careless driving and possessing an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

On the day of his arrest, a blood test revealed Middaugh's blood alcohol content was .206 percent.

He has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at 1 p.m. on June 10 for a preliminary hearing.

Johnny Leroy Dority, 68, of Wysox, by state police, on March 28, on Lanning Creek Road near Hillside Road in Wysox Township.

Dority has also been charged with failing to wear his seat belt, possessing an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, failing to stay in his lane and careless driving.

On the day of his arrest, a blood test revealed his blood alcohol content was .132 percent.

He has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at 3:30 p.m. on May 20 for a preliminary hearing.

Henry William Bothwell, 58, of Stevensville, by state police, on April 26, on Leisure Lakes Road in Stevens Township.

Bothwell has also been charged with driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.

On the day of his arrest, a blood test revealed Bothwell's blood alcohol content was .295 percent.

State police said Bothwell was driving at 70 to 80 mph in a 40 mph zone.

He has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at 3:45 p.m. on May 20 for a preliminary hearing.

Dennis V. Randall, 31, of Sayre, by Athens Borough police, on April 20, on South Elmira Street in Athens. Randall has also been charged with failure to keep right. A blood test revealed that Randall's blood alcohol content was .10 percent on the day of his arrest. Randall has been sent a summons to appear May 27 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

William Michael Ingram, 39, of Canton, by Canton police following a traffic stop at 11:29 p.m. Jan. 17 on Troy Street in Canton.

Ingram was also charged with violations of "driving on roadways laned for traffic," "obedience to traffic-control devices," and "restriction on alcoholic beverages," according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

According to an affidavit, Pennsylvania Game Commission Conservation Officer Jeffery Oleniacz requested assistance with a traffic stop he was conducting on Troy Street in Canton. Canton police arrived on the scene and learned from Oleniacz that the suspect's vehicle traveled by him at what he said appeared to be a high rate of speed, and he said the vehicle crossed over into the southbound lane and then back into the northbound lane, when making a turn. He also noticed the vehicle's registration was expired as well. Canton Police Officer Joshua Heckman said the driver, identified as Ingram, had an odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from his breath and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, with his pupils dilated.

Wilcox said Ingram was sent a summons by certified mail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 14.

Renee Elizabeth Getz, 28, of Mill Hall, Pa. by Canton police following a traffic stop at 12:40 a.m. March 14 on Troy Street in Canton.

Getz was also charged with careless driving and a violation of "driving on roadways laned for traffic," according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

In an affidavit, Canton Police Officer Trey Kurtz said he saw a Honda drift into his lane of travel and make a sudden abrupt correction back to the northbound lane, and he immediately turned around and made a traffic stop and identified the driver as Getz. He said she appeared to be very nervous and had reddened eyes. Her blood alcohol content was .103 percent, he said.

Wilcox said she was sent a summons by certified mail. She faces a preliminary hearing at 1:15 p.m. May 14.

Athens man arrested on family court charge

An Athens man was recently arrested by Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies on a warrant issued out of Tioga County Family Court.

According to the sheriff's office, Steven J. Wheeler, 24, was arrested April 27 following a vehicle stop on Route 34 in Barton.

Wheeler was arraigned in Waverly Village Court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail or $2,000 bond, police said. Wheeler was scheduled to appear April 28 in family court.

Syrup container taken

A 60-year-old Troy man told state police at Towanda that a 275-gallon container that he uses to store maple syrup was taken from a wooded lot, where he collects sap, at approximately 7 a.m. April 21 on Route 514 in the Troy area.

The man said there is a metal cage around the plastic container. Anyone with further information is asked to contact state police.

PFA violation reported

State police at Towanda said that charges were filed in District Court 42-3-01 and the Bradford County Courthouse following a PFA violation/criminal mischief incident that took place at 1:58 a.m. April 27 on State Route 414 in LeRoy Township.

Police said Joshua Charles Nemeth, 30, of Towanda, had contact with a 35-year-old female victim, in violation of a PFA order. While he was at the victim's residence, an argument ensued and he broke a window in the residence.

Woman injured

State police at Towanda said Carol B. Eddy, 59, of Columbia Cross Roads, had an injury of unknown severity in a one-vehicle accident at 9:01 a.m. April 14 on Porter Road in Troy Township.

Police said her Dodge Nitro left the roadway and struck a tree, and she was transported by Western Alliance to Robert Packer Hospital for evaluation. Police said she was charged for a violation of "roadways laned for traffic."

Moderate injury reported

State police at Towanda said Sally Jane McClintic, 58, of Troy, was moderately injured in a one-vehicle crash at 3:53 p.m. April 24 on Judson Hill Road, approximately a half-mile south of Meadow Way, in Wells Township.

Police said she was traveling south and lost control of her 2009 Buick Lacrosse, which traveled through the north travel lane and struck a guardrail on the east shoulder of the roadway. According to police, the front-end of the vehicle struck a guardrail and the vehicle sustained disabling damage as a result. Police said McClintic was transported by Erway EMS to Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira, N.Y. for medical treatment. She said she was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, police said.

Police said she was charged with violations of "driving on right side of roadway" and "restraint systems" through District Court 42-3-01.

The Daggett Volunteer Fire Department and Burkholder's Towing also responded.

Sexual assault reported

State police at Towanda said they are investigating an incident in which a 10-year-old female juvenile reported that she was sexually assaulted by someone known to her sometime between Dec. 1 and April 10 in Springfield Township.

Burglary investigated

State police are investigating a burglary that occurred recently at a private residence in Wysox Township.

According to police, perpetrators entered a storage shed on the property of a 71-year-old woman, and removed a red Sears/Craftsman snowblower, and a silver metal table saw, before fleeing the scene. The incident, police reported, occurred between March 17 and April 1. Anyone with information about the incident is requested to contact the state police at (570) 265-2186.

No injuries

No injuries were reported when a two-vehicle crash occurred recently on U.S. Route 6 in Standing Stone Township.

According to state police, Gerald L. Martin Jr., 43, of Wyalusing, was driving a Kenworth 900 west on Route 6 around 2:15 p.m. on April 26, when his vehicle struck the rear of a Dodge Ram 1500 operated by Raymond Cobb, 74, of Hallstead, Pa., who had stopped to make a left turn onto River Road. The impact caused disabling damage to both vehicles and both were towed from the scene. Police said that Martin will be cited for operating his vehicle at an unsafe speed.

Two cited for harassment

Two people were cited for harassment recently, following an altercation in Monroe Township.

State police reported that Kathryn Ann Vanderpool, 33, of Towanda, and Erin Nicole Jerger, 23, of Towanda were cited for the above offense on April 28, after the two got into an argument and struck each other with closed fists.

Criminal mischief reported

State police are investigating an incident of criminal mischief that occurred recently at a business in Elkland Township, Sullivan County.

According to police, at least two people arrived at a work site located on Lake Road near Camp Brule being overseen by Brigadier Pipeline Inc. of Troy. Police said the perpetrators spray painted graffiti on the metal plates covering the roadway, then rolled tires down the hill and smashed the windshield of a Cat 320D excavator with a rock. The incident occurred between 6 p.m. on April 26 and 10:30 a.m. on April 27. Anyone with information regarding the incident is requested to contact the state police at (570) 946-4610.

Man charged with heroin possession

A Monroeton man was arrested by Towanda police recently on allegations of illegal drug activity.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Christopher G. Carlisle, 25, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; and unlawful activities.

Carlisle was arrested by police following a traffic stop near Harkness' Restaurant in Towanda Township on March 9. During the investigation, according to the report, police discovered a package of a white substance that was later identified as heroin, as well as drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Carlisle was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 bail. Carlisle's preliminary hearing before Judge Clark has been scheduled for May 7.

Woman charged with possession of drug paraphernalia

A Wellsburg, N.Y. woman was taken into custody by the Bradford County Sheriff's Department recently on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Denise A. Wilson, 47, was cited on April 24 for the above offense. On that date, according to reports, Wilson was picked up by sheriff's deputies in a warrant sweep being conducted in the area. Authorities determined there was a warrant out for Wilson's arrest, and when she was taken into custody, they found a hypodermic needle in her purse.

Wilson was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $55,000 bail.

Man faces drug possession charge

A Monroeton man has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark to answer a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

According to information filed in Clark's office, Paul Duane Ragan Jr., 25, has also been charged by Towanda police with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police reported arresting Ragan following a traffic stop on March 9 near Harkness' Restaurant in Towanda Township. During the investigation, police said, Ragan was found to be in possession of substances that later tested positive as marijuana and heroin respectively.

Ragan's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 28.

DUI

The following people were charged recently with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Tammy Jo Bailey, 45, of Monroeton. Bailey was charged by state police with the above offense by state police on April 19 following a traffic stop on U.S. Route 220 in Monroe Township.

Fred Ringler, 53, of Towanda. Ringler was charged by state police with the above offense by state police on April 25 following a traffic stop on U.S. Route 220 in Monroeton Borough.

Shane Michael Case, 31, of Troy. Case was also charged by state police on March 25 with driving on the wrong side of the road; crossing the center line of traffic; and careless driving, following a one-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 6 in Burlington Township. After being taken into custody for DUI, Case was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda, where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Case's blood alcohol content was .212 percent on the day of his arrest. Case has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on May 28.

William Chadwick Wade, 43, of Tillar Drew, Ariz. Wade was also charged by state police on March 31 with driving on the wrong side of the road; operating a vehicle at an unsafe speed; careless driving; and possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a moving vehicle. Wade was charged following a one-vehicle crash on state Route 3013 in Burlington Township. After being taken into custody for DUI, Wade was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Drew's blood alcohol content was .138 percent on the day of his arrest. Wade has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on June 4.

Danica Grace Saxbury, 21, of Towanda. Wade was also charged by Towanda police on April 4 with failure to signal properly when making a turn; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of a controlled substance (Diazepam) without a prescription. Saxbury was charged following a traffic stop. After being taken into custody for DUI, Saxbury was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda, where she agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Saxbury's blood was positive for Alpha - PVP; amphetamine; and methamphetamine. Saxbury has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on May 28.

Crash at 901-81 injures man

FOSTER TOWNSHIP - Harry T. Parfitt, 39, of Mount Carmel, suffered head and neck injuries Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on Route 901 near an on-ramp for Interstate 81 in this Schuylkill County township.

State police at Frackville reported Parfitt was transported by Minersville Ambulance to Schuylkill Medical Center East in Pottsville.

Police said Douglas Moyer, 71, of Hazleton, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet CK 1500 truck west at about 12:30 p.m. when he attempted to turn left to enter the southbound interstate on-ramp and traveled directly into the path of Parfitt's 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix. Police said Parfitt locked up his brakes, causing his car to skid forward and strike the rear right side of the truck.

Moyer's vehicle spun 180 degrees clockwise before coming to a halt along the on-ramp. Parfitt's auto came to rest at the southwest corner of the interchange.

Moyer escaped injury. Police said both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Moyer was cited by Trooper Edward Sanchez for making an improper left turn.

Both vehicles were towed.

Assisting at the scene were members of Good Will Hose Company, Minersville.

Quentin Landon, 37, Troy, entered a plea of guilty before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark to the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, and was sentenced to 30 days, and court costs.

Sergeant David Lantz of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Landon for the offense on April 4, 2014, following investigation of a Possession of Drug Paraphernalia that occurred in Towanda Borough.

Larry Harbst, 26, Towanda, Pa., entered a plea of guilty before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw to the offense of Harassment, a summary offense and was sentenced to a fine of $200, and court costs. Officer Travis Snyder of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Harbst for the offense on Nov. 15, 2013, following investigation of an assault that occurred in Sayre Borough.

Trooper Joshua Fisher of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Allis following investigation of an incident that occurred in Wysox Township.

Rebecca Rees, 38, of Towanda, Pa., was resentenced following revocation of sentences of probation to a term of imprisonment in Bradford County Correctional Facility of from six months to 23 months, 29 days, she was also ordered to pay restitution of $675 (buy money) and a fine of $500, she will also lose her driver's license for six months for the offense of Delivery of a controlled substance, a felony. Agents of the Pennsylvania State Police Vice and Narcotics Unit arrested Rees following investigation of an incident that occurred in Towanda Borough.

Gary Bennett III, 22, of Binghamton, N.Y., was resentenced following revocation of a sentence of probation to a term of imprisonment in Bradford County Correctional Facility and a fine of $300 for the offense of Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree and Disorderly Conduct, a misdemeanor of the third degree. Officer Eric Keir of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Bennett for the offense in Oct. 13, 2012.

Dylan Beers, 20, of Athens, Pa., was resentenced following revocation of a sentence of probation to a term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from nine months to 36 months, he was also ordered to pay restitution of $1260.50 and a fine of $1000, for the offenses of Receiving Stolen Property, a misdemeanor of the second degree, Receiving Stolen Property, a misdemeanor of the third degree and Flight to Avoid Apprehension, misdemeanor of the second degree. Trooper Youngblood and Flynn of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Beers following investigation of an incident that occurred in Towanda/Wysox Township.

Matthew Malorzo, 27, Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from 24 months to 72 months, he was also ordered to pay restitution of $16,879.52 and a fine of $2000 for the offense of Burglary at a Litchfield home and Criminal Trespass at another Litchfield home on Sept. 29, 2013. Trooper Jeffrey Sredenschek of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Malorzo following investigation of an incident that occurred in Litchfield Township. The sentence imposed on April 28, 2014, will be served after Malorzo completes the 18 month to 48 month sentence imposed for other crimes for a total of 32 months to 120 months.

Thomas Zaleski, 42, Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 90 days to six months and a fine of $1000; he will also lose his driver's license for 12 months, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Trooper Robert Edgerton of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Zaleski following investigation of an incident that occurred in Towanda Borough in Feb. 23, 2014.

Brandon Teeter, 28, Canton, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Teeter will be sentenced on June 30, 2014, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Trey Kurtz of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Teeter for the offense on Sept. 27, 2013.

Thomas Zaleski, 42, Towanda, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Zaleski will be sentenced on June 17, 2014, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Robert Edgerton of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Zaleski following investigation of an incident that occurred in Towanda Borough on Feb. 23, 2014.

Mark Barrett, 42, Towanda, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation Barrett will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Barrett must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days.

Roy Blanchard, 31, Towanda, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation Blanchard will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Blanchard must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel. Corporal Norman Strauss of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Blanchard for the offense on Jan. 1, 2014 in Monroe Township.

Christopher Brewster, 24, Wyalusing, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation Brewster will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Brewster must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Trooper Christopher Stecik of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Brewster for the offense on Dec. 11, 2013, in Albany Township.

Paul Craig, 34, Athens, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation Craig will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Craig must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Officer Andrew Stevens of the Athens Borough Police Department arrested Craig for the offense in Athens Borough.

Patience Durgin, 37, Athens, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation Durgin will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Durgin must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and she will lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days. Officer James Condusta of the Athens Borough Police Department filed the charges in Jan. 5, 2014 for the offense in Athens Borough.

Heather Froehlich, 35, Athens, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation Froehlich will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Froehlich must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and she will lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days. Officer Roger Clink of the Athens Township Police Department filed the charges on Jan. 10, 2014 for the offense in Athens Township.

Ronald Kipp, 28, Wyalusing, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation Kipp will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use.
