DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Michael T. Pierce, 48, of Barton, by Athens Township police, on Nov. 21, on Riverside Drive in Sayre. Pierce has also been charged with failure to drive on the right side of the roadway. A blood alcohol test later revealed that Pierce's blood alcohol content was .17 percent on the day of his arrest. Pierce has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw Jan. 22 for a preliminary hearing.

Rick R. Raupers, 46, of Waverly, by Sayre borough police, on Dec. 20, on West Lockhart Street in Sayre. Raupers has also been charged with driving with a suspended license, failure to drive on the right side of the roadway and driving with an open container of alcohol. Raupers refused to submit to a blood alcohol test to determine his blood alcohol content. Raupers was arraigned Dec. 20 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. Raupers is scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw Jan. 8 for a preliminary hearing.

Michelle Lee Mossmayer, 32, of Athens, by state police, on Oct. 12, on North Rome Road in Litchfield Township. Mossmayer was also charged with driving without a license, failure to stay in a lane, careless driving, failing to make immediate notice of an accident to police and failure to wear a seat belt. A blood alcohol test later revealed that Mossmayer's blood alcohol content was .09 percent on the day of her arrest. Mossmayer has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw Jan. 15 for a preliminary hearing.

Erik Kyle Dabek, 34, of Bound Brook, NJ, by state police, on Nov. 25, on Wyalusing Road in Terry Township. Dabek has also been charged with driving without insurance, failing to stay in his lane, and careless driving. A blood alcohol test later revealed that Dabek's blood alcohol content was .260 percent on the day of his arrest. Dabek has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on Jan. 15 for a preliminary hearing.

Items removed from vehicle

State police at Towanda seek an unknown actor or actors who removed items from a vehicle in Ridgebury Township.

According to state police information, the actor stole items Nov. 25 from a vehicle parked on Bear Lane. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.

Harassment charge filed

State police recently cited a woman with harassment following an incident in Ulster Township.

According to information from state police at Towanda, Joy Marie Simons-Bayles, 38, of Towanda threw an object at a male victim Dec. 11 at a Saco Road location. The victim had no visible injuries, police said.

Generator stolen

State police at Towanda are investigating the theft of a generator from a Ridgebury Township location.

According to information from state police, an unknown actor or actors broke into a garage at a Monkey Run Road residence on either Dec. 10 or Dec. 11 and stole a Honda 3000 generator. The actor also gained entry to the residence and cut out copper piping in the basement, police said.

Police investigate stolen boat

State police are investigating the theft of a fishing boat from a Sheshequin Township property.

According to information from state police at Towanda, an unknown actor or actors entered a property on the 400 block of Golden Gate Road sometime between Dec. 5 and Dec. 8 and removed a Starcraft 12-foot aluminum fishing boat by unknown means. Police said it is unknown whether a vehicle was used in the commission of the crime.

Man charged with disorderly conduct

A Chemung, N.Y. man was recently arrested by Sayre borough police on a charge of disorderly conduct.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Travis Stephen Fedock, 21, was also charged with public drunkenness.

Police said Fedock was stumbling and making a disturbance in the area of Cayuta Street Dec. 13. Police said Fedock was visibly intoxicated, ran from officers and yelled vulgarities at them.

Fedock was arraigned Dec. 14 by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. Fedock's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 18.

Police arrest fugitive

A Niagara Falls, N.Y. man was recently arrested by Athens Township police as a fugitive from New York state.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, William John Kraft, 31, had an extraditable warrant out for his arrest from the Niagara County Sheriff's Office for a burglary charge. Police said Athens Township police arrested Kraft after receiving information he was staying at a McDuffee Street residence.

Kraft was arraigned Dec. 13 and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.

Waverly man arrested on warrant

A Waverly man was recently arrested by village police on a warrant for a previous arrest.

According to information from village police, Jason E. Whitten, 26, was arrested on a warrant for a previous charge of driving while intoxicated following a Dec. 14 traffic stop on Tioga Street. Police also charged Whitten with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and possession of a hypodermic needle, police said.

Whitten was arraigned in Village of Waverly court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail to await further court action.

Criminal mischief charge

A Waverly man was recently arrested by village police on a charge of criminal mischief.

According to village police information, Lee R. Stearns, 43, forced entry into an apartment door on Broad Street, causing heavy damage to the door. Police said Stearns was alleged to have been intoxicated during the Dec. 14 incident.

The owner of the rental property requested to file charges to have restitution paid for the door damage, police said.

Stearns was issued a ticket to appear Dec. 20 in Village of Waverly court.

Fugitive from justice arrested

A Sayre woman was recently arrested by Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies on a fugitive from justice warrant.

According to information from the sheriff's office, Holly E. Simpson, 27, was arrested at the Tioga County Jail after being captured in Texas on a fugitive from justice warrant. Police said Simpson is charged with second-degree attempted burglary.

Simpson will appear in Tioga County Court at a later date, police said.

Man arrested for failing to appear

An Elmira, N.Y. man was recently arrested by Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies on a bench warrant.

According to information from the sheriff's office, Charles A. Spence, 29, was arrested for failure to appear in Town of Barton court to answer grand larceny and theft of services charges.

Spence was turned over to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office Dec. 14 after being released from the Steuben County, N.Y. Jail, police said.

Spence was arraigned in Town of Barton court and released on his own recognizance, police said. Spence is scheduled to appear Dec. 18 in town court.

Sayre man cited for harassment

A Sayre man was recently cited for harassment by Waverly village police.

According to information from village police, William J. Snyder, 29, is accused of intentionally striking a seven-year-old juvenile in the head with his hand Nov. 28 in front of the Waverly Village Hall on Ithaca Street, causing alarm to the child. The juvenile was not injured, police said.

The juvenile was part of a group of seven to 10 Boy Scouts awaiting a tour of the Waverly police department, police said. Snyder is a den leader with a local Boy Scout troop, police said.

Snyder was issued a ticket to appear Jan. 3 in Village of Waverly court.

Waverly man arrested

A Waverly man was recently arrested by village police on a warrant.

According to village police information, Steven J. Wheeler, 23, was located and arrested at a Ball Street residence on a warrant from Village of Waverly court. Wheeler was wanted in a Nov. 30 incident in which village police had found him in possession of a hypodermic needle, police said. Wheeler was charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, police said.

Wheeler was arraigned in village court and sent to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $500 bail, police said.

Waverly man charged with taking snowblower

A Waverly man was recently arrested by Sayre borough police on a charge of receiving stolen property.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Shone Okla Lattimer, 39, was also charged with theft of property lost, mislaid or delivered by mistake and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said Lattimer was observed Dec. 19 near the train tracks along South Lehigh Avenue with a snow blower that did not belong to him. Lattimer told police he found the snow blower near the train cars, police said. The snow blower was valued at approximately $400, police said. Police found a hypodermic needle on Lattimer's person, police said.

Lattimer was arraigned Dec. 19 and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. Lattimer's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 28.

Theft at Kmart

Kristal Charlene Hobday, 28, of Sayre and Carole Dianne Hobday, 53, of Athens have both been charged with one count of retail theft relating to a Dec. 11 incident at the Kmart in Wysox. According to police, the mother daughter duo stole a DVD and various Pittsburgh Steeler merchandise.

Both women have been remanded to the Bradford County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000. Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 18 before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton.

Crash in Terry Township

According to Wyalusing Borough Fire Chief Adam Dietz there was a two car motor vehicle accident that occurred in Terry Township on Route 187, approximately a quarter mile from Rainbow Bridge. The crash occurred when a Toyota crew cab pick-up hit a flatbed tractor trailer "more or less" head on, Dietz said. The female driver of the Toyota was confined in her vehicle and emergency responders had to remove the front windshield and cut part of the roof to remove her after the crash.

"She suffered minor injuries and was transported to Towanda Memorial Hospital," Dietz said. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

Citation pending

State police at Towanda said that a non-traffic citation for summary harassment is pending against Dillon L. Gordon, 19, of Troy through District Court 42-3-01.

He is accused of subjecting a 17-year-old Troy female to physical contact during a domestic dispute.

No injuries

State police at Towanda said no one was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 8:40 a.m. Dec. 10 on Elmira Street in Troy.

Drivers involved in the accident were Jennifer L. Watkins, 30, of Mansfield, and Karyn R. Harwick, 37, of Troy, police said.

According to police, Watkins' vehicle was following Harwick's vehicle west on the street, and Harwick stopped for a line of traffic ahead. Police said Watkins was unable to stop, a collision occurred, and Watkins was charged with "following too closely."

Cinder blocks stolen

State police at Towanda said the several cinder blocks were removed/stolen from the property of a 39-year-old Palmerton, Pa. man sometime between 12:01 a.m. Dec. 1 and 12:01 a.m. Dec. 9 on Eaton Lane in Wells Township.

The thief or thieves then fled with the stolen property.

Man faces hearing

John Jacob Brown, 25, of Pittsburgh, faces a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy at 3 p.m. Dec. 26 for an incident that occurred sometime between Aug. 20 and Sept. 6 at the Bradford County Correctional Facility in West Burlington Township in which Brown had in his possession a letter that had a drug, buprenorphine, on it, according to court papers.

Brown knew that the letter contained the drug, the papers note. Brown was charged with "contraband."

An affidavit notes that Brown's mail was flagged because the jail received information that someone was placing drugs on Brown's letters and mailing them to him.

DUI charges

The following person was recently charged with driving while under

the influence in Bradford County:

Joseph Robert Wiglesworth, 21, of Canton, by Canton Borough Police for an incident at 12:34 a.m. Nov. 24 on Lycoming Street in Canton.

According to an affidavit, police, after being alerted by a caller, saw a Jeep parked in a driveway with its lights on and the engine running. Police saw a man in the driver's seat who was slumped over the steering wheel and appeared to be passed out. The man stated he was Wiglesworth.

Wiglesworth faces a preliminary hearing at 1:15 p.m. Dec. 26 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

Burglary in Sugar Run

State police in Towanda are investigating a report of a burglary at 181 Mowery Ln. in Sugar Run between Dec. 8 and Dec. 16.

According to police, someone entered the residence by smashing a window on the porch, but did not take anything.

Michigan man charged with scattering rubbish

David Eugene Rohring, 39, of Michigan is accused of scattering rubbish after a Rome man found trash and other waste on his property on W. Parks Road in Rome. The incident was said to have taken place on Dec. 4 at 11 a.m..

According to police, evidence was located inside the trash that had Rohring's name on it.

State police said a non-traffic citation was filed with the Magisterial District Court in Wysox.

Stolen mailbox

State police in Towanda are investigating a report of a stolen mailbox that occurred on Woodland Lake Rd. in Pike Twp on Dec. 16. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police in Towanda at 570-265-2186.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN - A 17-year-old Shamokin female was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for retail theft for allegedly stealing cosmetics valued at $35.99 from Weis Markets at 6:33 p.m. Wednesday.

Teen cited

SHAMOKIN - A 14-year-old city boy was cited by Patrolman Shane Mowery for retail theft for allegedly removing headphones valued at $6 from the Dollar General downtown Dec. 5.

Abandoned vehicles

SHAMOKIN - City police have cited four people for violating an abandoned vehicle ordinance involving expired inspection stickers.

Cited by Cpl. Darwin Tobias in connection with Dec. 4 incidents were Matthew Hare, 29, of 341 S. Third St., Sunbury; John Pickin, 54, of Bloomsburg, and Regina Mary Howell, 58, of 137 E. Arch St., Shamokin. Police said the offenses took place in the 100 block of South Shamokin Street, Packer and Vine streets, and the 400 block of North Rock Street, respectively.

Cited by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes in connection with a Dec. 6 incident at Sixth Street and Klinger Avenue was Clinton Bannerman, 218 W. Walnut St., Shamokin.

Seeking information on serial bank robber "The Ray-Bandit"

MECHANICSVILLE - The FBI and our law enforcement partners are seeking information leading to the identification of a serial bank robbery suspect believed to be connected to at least 14 robberies in seven states.

On Dec. 5, the SunTrust Bank located in the Kroger Store at 6335 Mechanicsville Turnpike and the BB&T located at 9186 Chamberlayne Road, both in Mechanicsville were robbed. It is believed that in addition to these Virginia robberies, this subject may be responsible for the following robberies as well:

- July 30, Community State Bank in Kenosha County, Wisconsin

- Aug. 8, TCF in Munster, Indiana

- Aug. 8, Fifth Third Bank in Hammond, Indiana

- Aug. 20, Wells Fargo Bank in Moline, Illinois

- Aug. 23, First National Bank and Trust in Janesville, Wisconsin

- Aug. 30, US Bank in Edwardsville, Illinois

The "Ray-Bandit" is described as a white male, approximately 5'8" to 6'0" tall, 200-215 pounds, 20-30 years of age with red/strawberry blond hair. This individual has been known to change his hair color and wear disguises such as "Ray-Ban" style sunglasses, fake beards and false teeth. He usually wears some type of hat and layers of clothing with longer sleeves. The subject has been observed wearing something on his fingertips, described as either band-aids or rubber thimbles.

Joel Vanderpool, 30, Towanda, Pa., plead guilty to Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, and was ordered to pay a fine of $200 and court costs.

Tia M. Blake, 29, Gillett, Pa., plead guilty to Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, and was sentenced a term of incarceration in the Bradford County Correctional Facility equal to the number of days already served as of the date of her guilty plea; she was also ordered to pay court costs.

William C. Harris, 23, Troy, Pa., plead guilty to Criminal Mischief, a misdemeanor of the third degree, and was ordered to pay a fine of $1500, restitution in the amount of $973, and court costs.

Ralph Forbes, 35, Athens, Pa., entered a plea of guilty before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw to the offense of Disorderly Conduct, a misdemeanor of the third degree, and was ordered to pay a fine of $350 and court costs. Officer Nikki Hoffman of the Athens Borough Police Department arrested Forbes for the offense in September 2012.

Ryan Hunsinger, 19, Sayre, Pa., entered a plea of guilty before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw to the offense of Harassment, a summary violation, and was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for a term of 90 days with 63 days suspended, and he was also ordered to pay court costs.

Horace Locklear, 60, of Maxton, N.C. was charged with the summary offense of disorderly conduct for a incident which occurred on Nov. 17. Locklear is accused of causing a public disturbance at Captain Jack's Bar on Main Street, Towanda.

Liam Aissa, 22, of Towanda was charged with the summary offenses of criminal mischief and public drunkenness for a incident which occurred on Dec. 1. Aissa is accused of intentionally damaging property while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage at the law office of Griffin, Dawsey, DePaola, & Jones, Main Street, Towanda.

Erica Adams, 25, of Hillcrest, N.Y. was cited for harassment following a incident which occurred on Dec. 7. Adams is accused of repeatedly contacting another by phone, and sending text messages, causing alarm to the victim.

Kelly Ackley, 27, of Towanda has been charged with the summary offense of harassment following a incident which occurred on Dec. 10. Ackley is accused of striking another in the face. The incident occurred on Poplar Street, Towanda.

A juvenile male has been charged with retail theft for an incident which occurred at Ben Franklin Crafts, Main Street, Towanda. The incident occurred on Dec. 13.

Keith Kissell, 26, of Towanda has been charged with the summary offenses of criminal mischief and public drunkenness following an incident which occurred on Dec. 1. Kissell is accused of intentionally damaging property while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage at the law office of Griffin, Dawsey, DePaola, & Jones, Main Street, Towanda.

Burglary in Sugar Run

State police in Towanda are investigating a report of a burglary at 181 Mowery Ln. in Sugar Run between Dec. 8 and Dec. 16.

According to police, someone entered the residence by smashing a window on the porch, but did not take anything.

Michigan man charged with scattering rubbish

David Eugene Rohring, 39, of Michigan is accused of scattering rubbish after a Rome man found trash and other waste on his property on W. Parks Road in Rome. The incident was said to have taken place on Dec. 4 at 11 a.m..

According to police, evidence was located inside the trash that had Rohring's name on it.

State police said a non-traffic citation was filed with the Magisterial District Court in Wysox.

Stolen mailbox

State police in Towanda are investigating a report of a stolen mailbox that occurred on Woodland Lake Rd. in Pike Twp on Dec. 16. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police in Towanda at 570-265-2186.

Forgery charges

LEWIS TOWNSHIP - Cody Lee Chestnut, 21, of Sunbury, has been charged by state police at Milton with seven counts of forgery, theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property involving incidents that occurred between Nov. 8 and Dec. 6 at Nite Lite Sign Company Inc. on Schuyler Road, where he was employed.

Police reported Chestnut stole 12 checks from the sign company, wrote the checks out to himself and forged his aunt's name, an owner of the business, on the checks. Police said Chestnut was successful in cashing several checks, but was questioned by a teller at Turbotville National Bank, who contacted Chestnut's aunt.

Chestnut was arraigned on the charges and recommitted to Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Burglary at tree farm

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - State police at Milton are investigating a burglary Friday morning at Kohl's Stony Hill Tree Farm on Mexico Road in this Montour County township.

Police said four people forcibly gained access to the business and attempted to enter a safe, but were not successful. The thieves did steal two Dewalt power drills and batteries, three digital cameras, two jars of donation money for Children's Miracle Network, a two-foot tall stuffed fawn and surveillance equipment.

Police said the burglary occurred between 2:30 and 5 a.m.

Tavern burglarized

WEST CHILLISQUAQUE TOWNSHIP - State police at Milton reported someone entered a rear window at Mindy's Tavern along Route 405 Friday morning and stole money from a jukebox, a 32-inch television and various bottles of vodka, rum and other alcohol.

Police said damage and the value of the stolen items total approximately $1,000.

The burglary occurred between 12:30 and 8:30 a.m.

Cash stolen from church

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Selinsgrove are investigating the theft of cash from the Children's Sunday School Fund at First United Church of Christ in this Snyder County township.

Police said the thief gained entry to the church by breaking a window in the basement between 9 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday before stealing the money, breaking into a fire safe and removing church documents.

Cast iron stolen

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported thieves removed a cast-iron, claw-foot bathtub and four cast-iron heating radiators from the rear porch at a vacant house along Mulberry Road between Dec. 15 and Saturday.

Police said thieves also stole 10 more radiators, another claw-foot tub, a cast-iron kitchen sink with drain boards and a cast-iron bathroom sink with pedestal from an unlocked barn on the property.

The stolen items, which are owned by Kevin Apollo, 46, of Pottstown, are valued at $1,175.

ATV theft

RANSHAW - Robert Knowles, 46, of 504 Water St., Ranshaw, told Coal Township police someone removed his red, 2003 Yamaha Grizzly 660cc four-wheel all-terrain vehicle from his garage during the past week.

The ATV is valued at $3,500.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred in the 1600 block of Mohawk Street between 1:55 a.m. and noon Saturday.

Police said a gray 2000 Pontiac Grand Am was damaged in the accident.
