Ulster man charged with endangering the welfare of a child

Jesse James Young, 31, of Ulster was recently charged with endangering the welfare of a child and harassment, police said.

The charges stem from a March 29 incident at Young's residence in which he got into an argument with his girlfriend, Sabrina Marie Patton, police said.

Patton told police that after the argument began, Young grabbed her by the back of her shirt and started to punch her numerous times in the head, according to a court document that the state police filed in Towanda District Court.

Patton stated that at that point, her five-year-old son stepped in between them, yelling for Young to stop hitting her, according to the police.

Young then grabbed the boy by the throat and pushed him away, according to the account that Patton gave to the police.

Young was arrested and arraigned by Wysox Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on March 30.

Young was then sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Young's preliminary hearing in Towanda District Court, which was originally scheduled for April 10, has been postponed to May 8.
