Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Connie Jane Andrews, 46, of 347 E. Saylor St., was cited by borough police Patrolman Jason Drumheller for harassment after an investigation showed that she allegedlymade harassing calls to a borough resident 10 to 15 times a day from January through March 8.

The citation was filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough Police Patrolman Jason Drumheller cited Jedidiah D. Labella, 18, of 143 S. Locust St., for disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and underage drinking, following an incident at 9:37 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Avenue and Locust Street.

Drumheller reported that police observed a fight in that area. As officers approached, Labella began cursing at police and began to flee. He was apprehended by police and admitted to police that he had been drinking, police said.

The citations were filed through District Magistrate Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel.

- Assault-Aggravated: At 1:38 a.m. March 9, police responded to the 400 block of W. Randolph Road for a reported assault that occurred in the 200 block of S. 15th Ave. During a fight at a club, victim was cut on the arm by unknown offender.

- Burglary/Breaking and Entering/Residential: At 1:22 p.m. March 4, police responded to the 3000 block of Western Street for a reported burglary. Known offender entered residence and stole game system, jewelry and cash. Warrants obtained.

- Burglary/Breaking and Entering/Residential: At 3:30 p.m. March 5, police responded to the 2600 block of Lynchburg Street for a reported burglary. Unknown offender entered residence by forcing rear door and stole TV.

Wysox man faces drug charge

Kyle Richard Lane, 27, of Wysox is facing a drug-possession charge following a traffic stop at the intersection of Hawes Street and the Merrill Parkway in North Towanda Township, police said.

State police at Towanda said they pulled over a vehicle that Lane was in at 10:38 p.m. on Feb. 22 because the vehicle displayed a registration plate for another vehicle.

A controlled substance determined to be bath salts and multiple items of drug paraphernalia were observed within the vehicle, police said.

Man faces drug charge in Towanda Twp.

David Anthony Soprano, 50, of Waverly, N.Y., is facing a drug-possession charge following a traffic stop that occurred U.S. Route 220 in Towanda Township.

State police at Towanda said they pulled over the vehicle that Soprano was in at 2:54 p.m. on Feb. 19 for a traffic violation.

A white powdery substance that tested positive for bath salts was observed along with multiple items of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Two charged with shoplifting in Wysox Twp.

Samantha Jean Partridge of Towanda and Miranda Marie Hamilton of Laceyville are accused of shoplifting at the Tops supermarket in Wysox Township, police said.

Partridge, 23, tried to steal $32.55 worth of items from the store, while the 22-year-old Hamilton tried to steal $10.89 worth of items from the store, police said.

Partridge and Hamilton were both issued citations for retail theft following this incident, which occurred at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, state police at Towanda said.

Rome male charged with criminal mischief

Codey Lee Brown, 20, of Rome Borough has been charged with criminal mischief after he caused damage to a door of a Rome Borough residence, state police at Towanda said.

The incident occurred on Feb. 28 at a residence on Crimson Maple Drive, where two women live, police said.

Accident occurs in Wysox Twp.

No injuries occurred in a recent two-vehicle accident at the intersection of state Route 187 and Hillside Drive in Wysox Township, police said.

The crash took place at 6:40 a.m. on March 9 as Mavis A. Humphrey of Rome was driving south on state Route 187 and Taylor M. Keefe of Little Meadows, Pa., was stopped at a stop sign on Hillside Drive, at its intersection with Route 187, police said.

The 19-year-old Keefe tried to make a right-hand turn from Hillside Drive onto the southbound lane of Route 187, but pulled out directly in front of Humphrey's vehicle, police said.

Humphrey was unable to stop in time and her vehicle struck Keefe's vehicle, police said.

Keefe was cited for duties at stop signs.

No charges or traffic citations were filed against Humphrey, police said.

Humphrey's vehicle had to be towed from the scene, state police at Towanda said.

Garage windows smashed

RINGTOWN - State police at Frackville reported a 7-year-old Ringtown boy smashed three window panes out of a garage on St. Paul's Church property along East Main Street between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Sunday.

Police said church officials have declined to pursue charges against the 7-year-old, whose parents have agreed to pay for the damages.

Driver unhurt

LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - James A. Hartman, 58, of Dornsife, escaped injury Saturday afternoon when his 1991 Ford Ranger truck lost traction on a slick section of Route 147, struck a steep embankment and flipped onto its driver's side.

Police said Hartman, who was wearing a seat belt, was traveling south when the 1:15 p.m. accident occurred.

Car hits tree

JACKSON TOWNSHIP - James C. Kahler, 33, of Trevorton, was cited by state police at Selinsgrove for driving too fast for road conditions after his 1992 Dodge Spirit crashed into a tree off New Berlin Highway on Saturday afternoon in this Snyder County township.

Police said Kahler was traveling north at 1 p.m. when he lost control of his car while negotiating a left curve. The auto then traveled into the oncoming lane, exited the road and struck a tree.

Kahler escaped injury.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - Sharon Ann Weikel, 47, of 709 W. Chestnut St., Apt. 1, was cited for public drunkenness by city police Patrolman Mark Costa after she was found lying on the ground in the area of Eighth and Water streets at 4:15 p.m. Saturday.

Computer equipment found in Franklin Twp.

Some computer equipment was found at 6:30 a.m. Sunday along Mountain Road in Franklin Township, police said.

Anyone with proof of ownership is asked to contact the state police at Towanda at (570) 265-2186.

Theft occurs in Monroe Twp.

Someone stole fuel oil in Monroe Township from a 32-year-old Towanda man, police said.

State police said this week that they are continuing to investigate the theft, which occurred sometime between 9 a.m. on Feb. 11 and 2 p.m. on Feb. 12.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Towanda at (570) 265-2186, or call 800-4-PA-TIPS.

"Name not required, just your information. Up to $2,000 cash reward if your information results in an arrest," the state police said in a press release that they issued about the theft.

Vehicle rolls over in Colley Twp.

Edward A. Bezdziecki, 59, of Hanover Township, Pa., was uninjured in a recent motor vehicle accident on state Route 487 in Colley Township, Sullivan County, police said.

The accident occurred at 2:10 p.m. Saturday, when Bezdziecki was driving south on Route 487, police said.

Bezdziecki lost control of his vehicle on the snow-covered roadway, and it traveled off the east side of the road, went into a drainage ditch and rolled onto its driver's side, police said.

Bezdziecki was not charged with any traffic violations, state police at Laporte said.

Waverly man arrested

A Waverly man was recently arrested by village police on a charge of endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person.

According to information from village police, Robert H. Mann, 39, was also charged with harassment, criminal contempt, assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.

Police said Mann was arrested following a domestic incident in which he reportedly pushed a mentally disabled relative at his residence. Mann also allegedly made several threatening phone calls to a protected party, police said.

As officers attempted to arrest Mann, he struck an officer in his face and attempted to flee police, according to police.

Mann was arraigned in Waverly village court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of bail, police said.

Unlicensed drivers charged

Waverly village police recently charged the following people with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following traffic stops, according to information from village police:

Vanessa I. Ward, 22, of Chemung, N.Y.; Paul T. Brown, 33, of Athens; Richard N. Rivera, 46, of Athens; Chelsea M. Cole, 28, of Waverly; Kyle W. Simpson, 22, of Waverly; and Hillmont A. Talada, 35, of Barton.

Sayre man incarcerated

A Sayre man was recently incarcerated by borough police on a charge of escape.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Travis M. Ruvolo, 21, was also charged with two counts each of simple assault and aggravated assault and one count each of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Police said Ruvolo attempted to engage in a physical altercation with a male and a female at about 1:55 a.m. March 17 in the parking lot of the Lehigh Tavern on North Lehigh Avenue. Police said Ruvolo ran away from officers after police attempted to take him into custody. Ruvolo grabbed an officer's stun gun, which resulted in the officer being stunned, police said.

Ruvolo was arraigned March 17 and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. Ruvolo's preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 26.

Hospital patient charged with assault

A Towanda man was recently arrested by Sayre borough police on a charge of aggravated assault.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Robert Eugene Buckley Jr., 30, was also charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct.

Police said Buckley attempted to choke a security officer March 16 at Robert Packer Hospital, causing the officer to have scratches and red marks on his neck.

Buckley was arraigned March 16 and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. Buckley's preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 26.

Criminal mischief

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police say an unknown person slashed four tires on a 2010 Toyota Corolla, owned by Colby Schweitzer, 27, of Coal Township, while it was parked in the 800 block of Mulberry Street between 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday. Corruption of minors

MOUNT CARMEL - Joshua R. Potter, 20, of 439 Vine St., Sunbury, faces two separate sets of charges, including corruption of minors, following theft incidents in the borough on Dec. 22.

Mount Carmel Borough Police Cpl. David Donkochik reported in court documents that police investigated footprints found around several parked vehicles, indicating someone tried to gain entry.

Police then received a call from Amber Ennis, who said someone stole money from her Jeep.

Officers followed the prints to a vacant house where they found Potter and a 16-year-old male with several piles of change, a fake pistol and drug paraphernalia. They also found a backpack allegedly belonging to Potter that contained two knives, several hand tools and a computer. Police found a bottle of pills prescribed to Jerry Matzura, whose vehicle is one around which police observed footprints, according to the complaint.

Police charged Potter with corruption of minors, prohibited offensive weapons, possessing instruments of a crime, theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, loitering and prowling at night and possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.

Potter also faces charges of theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, loitering and prowling at night and corruption of minors for allegedly entering a vehicle owned by Kimber Kauwell and removing approximately $15.

Potter was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $25,000 total bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.

Avoiding cops

ATLAS - Anthony W. McGinley, 30, of 953 W. Third St., Williamsport, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of flight to avoid apprehension and loitering and prowling at night, stemming from an investigation into a Sept. 22 incident in Atlas.

Mount Carmel Township Police Kelly Campbell reported in court documents that McGinley was a passenger in a vehicle used to run from the police. Police said McGinley led officers on a foot pursuit throughout Atlas to avoid being picked up on an outstanding bench warrant.

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and released on $5,000 signature bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.

Simple assault

KULPMONT - Albert J. Goodlunas III, 38, of 553 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment after allegedly striking Ronald Sabol several times in the 900 block of Chestnut Street at 5:36 p.m. March 12.

He was charged by Kulpmont Police Patrolman Patrick McAndrew. The complaint was filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel. A preliminary hearing is set for April 17.

Fraud

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police charged Barry T. Adams, 30, of 111 N. Market St., Mount Carmel, with access device fraud, identity theft, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after a Jan. 1 incident at his residence.

Patrolman Matthew Dillman reported in court documents that Adams allegedly stole several pieces of information from David Urbanowicz to apply for a credit card in Urbanowicz's name and charged approximately $400 to the card.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.

Dealer arrested

KULPMONT - Edward Miller, 28, of 863 W. Spruce St., Apt. 2, Coal Township, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility and three counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance following the investigation into a drug buy in Kulpmont on May 13, 2011.

According to Shamokin Police Cpl. Bryan Primerano in court documents, Miller sold a tablet of Ecstasy and a suboxone tablet for $40 to a confidential informant.

Miller was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones on Tuesday and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $75,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday before Jones.

Coins stolen

KULPMONT - Patrolman Shane Reamer charged Thomas J. Boylan, 18, of 827 Scott St., Kulpmont, with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after he allegedly removed an undetermined amount of coins from a change bottle owned by his mother at 8:35 p.m. Feb. 24.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel. A preliminary hearing is set for April 17.

Bad checks

MOUNT CARMEL - David Huber, 30, of 702 E. Fifth St., Mount Carmel, was charged with writing a bad check after allegedly issuing a check for $23,130.94 to Modern Hail Repair Inc. in October 2011 through a business he co-owns.

The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.

On March 10, officers responded to investigate a report of a suspicious person in the 1200 block of Mowry Street. A report of an unresponsive man sent officers to the 200 block of North Main Street. One arrest was made.

On March 11, officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a confused elderly man in the 300 block of South Main Street. A report of a verbal domestic dispute sent officers to the 500 block of South Main Street. Officers were dispatched to investigate a similar call in the 500 block of West Grace Street.

On March 12, officers were dispatched to investigate a reported juvenile problem in the 300 block of South Main Street. Officers later returned to the area to take possession of found property. Officers were also dispatched to assist Moosic police with a call in the 3700 block of Birney Avenue.

On March 13, officers were dispatched to investigate a report of an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle complaint in the 1200 block of Franklin Street. A motor vehicle accident sent officers to the intersection of Henderson and Fallon streets.

On March 14, officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a suspicious man in the 600 block of Moosic Road. Officers were dispatched to assist emergency medical services (EMS) with a call in the 100 block of James Street. Officers also assisted EMS with a call in the 100 block of Eisenhower Drive.

On March 15, officers were dispatched to investigate a motor vehicle accident in the 400 block of North Main Street.

On March 16, officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a suspicious man in the 500 block of George Street. An activated alarm sent officers to the 200 block of South Main Street. Officers also responded to investigate a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of South Main and Oak streets.

On March 11, officers were dispatched to investigate a domestic dispute in a home in the 100 block of Longview Drive. On March 12, officers were dispatched to investigate a retail theft at the Walmart on Main Street. Officers responded to investigate a property theft in the 200 block of Tamworth Drive. A similar call sent officers to Rockledge Terrace.

On March 13, officers were dispatched to investigate a domestic dispute in a home on Williams Street. A retail theft complaint sent officers to the Walmart on Main Street.

On March 14, officers were dispatched to investigate a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 200 block of Union Street.

On March 15, officers were dispatched to investigate a retail theft in the 1300 block of South Main Street. A similar call sent officers to the Walmart on Main Street.

On March 16, officers were dispatched to investigate a domestic dispute in a home in the 200 block of East Grove Street. A motor vehicle accident sent officers to the intersection of South Keyser and Sibley avenues. Officers also responded to investigate a domestic dispute in a home in the 100 block of Powell Street.

Saw stolen in Colley Township

A Dewalt reciprocating saw has been reported stolen from the Red Rock Job Corps Center in Colley Township, Sullivan County, police said. The saw was discovered missing earlier this month, police said.

Scattering of rubbish occurs in Wysox

Someone illegally deposited trash on a 53-year-old Wyalusing man's property on Grimes Road in Wysox Township, state police said this week.

The trash, which was deposited sometime between 7 a.m. on Feb. 12 and 7 a.m. on Feb. 13, consisted of construction materials, including a sink and a vinyl shower insert, police said.

No one injured in Towanda Twp. crash

Jean L. Ackley, 31, of Towanda was uninjured in a recent motor vehicle accident on Liberty Corners Road in Towanda Township, police said.

Ackley, who was traveling too fast for the road conditions, lost control of her vehicle as she entered a left-hand curve in the roadway, police said.

The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree head on, state police at Towanda said. The accident occurred at 8:17 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection with Woodside Road, police said.

Ackley was cited for driving at an unsafe speed, police said.

Sayre man faces drug charge

Timothy James Chilson, 28, of Sayre has been charged with conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, police said.

The charge stems from a Nov. 27 incident in which Chilson and two other individuals were involved in the sale of Percocet pills to a fourth individual, police said.

The incident occurred in the parking lot of One Progress Plaza off Elizabeth Street in Towanda, according to the state police at Towanda.

Chilson was arraigned by Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Feb. 26. Chilson was then released on non-monetary bail.

Chilson's preliminary hearing, which was originally scheduled for March 6 in Towanda District Court, has been postponed to March 27.

Towanda woman accused of selling drug

Candace Marie Chilson, 32, of Towanda has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, police said.

The charges stem from a Feb. 29 incident in which Chilson sold five Oxycodone pills to another individual at a residence on Second Street in Towanda, police said.

Chilson waived her preliminary hearing, which was scheduled for March 13 in Towanda District Court.

Therefore, Chilson's case has been transferred to the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, where she is scheduled to be arraigned on April 15.

Wyalusing woman scammed

Police are continuing to investigate a report of a scam which targeted a 42-year-old Wyalusing woman on March 3 in Terry Township.

According to police, the victim was contacted by an unknown person about fictitious employment. She was then sent a check and instructed to send the majority of the money via Western Union to the Philippines.

Theft in Albany Twp.

State police have received a complaint from a 44-year-old Dushore woman regarding stolen property on French Creek Road in Albany Township.

According to police, five metal gates designed to keep animals in their stalls were stolen between Feb. 26 and March 16.
