Jackie Rupert told police that she and Martz returned home from a city bar after which an argument ensued over missing money about 2 a.m., according to a criminal complaint. She alleges Martz struck her in the face multiple times with a closed fist. She sustained injuries to her right eye and upper lip but refused medical treatment.

Martz was not there when city police were first on scene. Police were again dispatched to the residence at 2:30 a.m. and took him into custody.

Martz is charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with simple assault and harassment. He was arraigned at 3:45 a.m. by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Resists arrest

COAL TOWNSHIP - David E. Neidig, 46, of 1139 W. Pine St., faces multiple charges following a pair of incidents early Wednesday.

According to a criminal complaint, township police were dispatched at 2:07 a.m. to the 900 block of Spruce Street for a suspicious person entering unlocked vehicles. Neidig was observed in the 1000 block when Patrolman Matthew Henrich arrived, standing next to a vehicle with its owner's manual at his feet. Police allege he was highly intoxicated and when asked to stand on a sidewalk, urinated behind a parked vehicle.

He was taken home and told not to leave. Police later learned that he had left his home and was found in the 1100 block of Pine Street. He was yelling and cursing when taken into custody and struggled with officers as they attempted to place him into a patrol vehicle, the complaint states.

While in a police department holding cell, Neidig is accused of twice urinating on the floor and also ripping a bell from the wall just outside the cell.

Neidig is charged by Henrich with institutional vandalism, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and resisting arrest. He was arraigned at 8:50 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and remanded to Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury, in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
